What Your Biggest Traffic Tip?

I want to take a moment and start this thread so we can all learn. Traffic is something we all strive to get but dont always know how to get.

Please share your favorite traffic tips and/or techniques below so we can all learn.

My biggest traffic tip (so far) is getting viral traffic from Facebook. I wrote a post about it here if you're interested.

    I usually lurk on forums, social bookmarking sites, etc. to identify what the community likes or wants, and I try to create web applications to fill that void. I build Web Apps because it's the easiest way for me to separate myself from the competition.

    It's very, very easy to over analyze communities, so my number one rule is to get in and get out. The longer you stick around the more annoyed you get with different aspects of the community. I usually lurk or participate for ten, twenty, or thirty minutes tops in any particular community before leaving for the day, week, month, etc.

    Hello kytro 360. Trendy websites come and go, and new ones are opening all the time. But for me, right now, if you're talking about FREE marketing methods I'm having the most success with Facebook And Craigslist.

    Social networking is very good, but classified ads are too.

        I do not disagree with you BUT SEO works if you have a 'website' and as we all know that SEO doesnt work for sq. pages or sales pages

    I would have to say that my biggest tip(s) would be article marketing and adding more of my own unique content to my blog. The more unique it is, the better it is for you. Do a little bit each day. That's what I do.

    In my short time experience driving traffic to a website, the best technique I have found so far is SEO on page:
    a) Main keyword on domain name.
    b) Main keyword on meta tags(title, description, keyword)
    Then some SEO off page: Consistently do article marketing and blog posts, for each keword you want to rank, preferently using them as anchor text.

    seo is the best traffic available, though you need patience before you can see results. If you can't wait then I suggest getting into PPC such as facebook adverts of adwords.

    Youtube is one of my favourite traffic sources . i get over 1000 clicks a week from youtube . Most people approach youtube with creating their own video , that is good but not always effective . The only exception where you can create a video and get traffic is when there is already a buzz about a subject and then you create a video about.

    However , I would recommend mastering what you are already learning to drive traffic and then learning new traffic getting techniques

    All of the above, but most of all DON'T STOP, DON'T GIVE UP!
    I use blogs, articles (mostly EZA), SEO and forums. Each can be effective in their own right, but seem to help one another when trying to achieve the all important critical mass of consistent traffic.

    But, like I indicated in the first line, the most imporant traffic generation method is persistence. No matter what technique(s) you choose, you have to keep at it until you succeed. Some methods take a little longer than others, but they can all result in decent traffic numbers, and as we all know, traffic is what drives your engine.

    Of course, once you are getting traffic, you should also work on improving conversion, so you don't need as much traffic to be successful.

    Article marketing, link building, link wheels, blog commenting, forum signatures all help in you SEO efforts, but while you wait for Google to rank your page you should be building up an authority in your niche in forums, and various web 2.0 sites to create direct traffic.

    How about this method. go find articles in directories with tons of views and comment on them
    Make a T shirt and advertise your site

    Advertise on bulletin boards bumper stickers etc.
    Get some magnets made up and give em away
    For starters

    SEO- is at the top of the list ( takes a while to rank for tougher keywords)
    Youtube- easy traffic if have good videos.
    Stumbleupon-Good for getting quick traffic
    twitter- easy to automate
    facebook-takes a while, but if you regularly update with new content and reach out to build your friends list, then it's ok
    PPC- awesome for testing offers.
    Article Marketing-Sustain long term traffic, very good for very green niches because the articles will be there forever or until the article directory close down.
    I would not say any way is better than another, you'll just have to do them all or outsource the work.

    Well it really depends upon the kind of niche. some times search engine and some times Social marketing .. but I think now a days social marketing is the biggest thing to drive traffic

    Yes the niche that you choose can play an important part in how you will find your method of driving traffic. And I totally agree that social marketing has become rather big and since its a numbers game, that is a good place to start in driving traffic.

    On the other hand, everyone is good at doing something to drive traffic to there site especially if you have been into that technique long enough to learn the ends and outs when using it.

      I don't know much but getting Traffic from Facebook fan pages, Twitter and Youtube is quite profitable. I've been on Youtube from last year and I've grown up a lot and I get 800-900 Traffic per 3 days.

    I do on page SEO myself using mainly SEOPressor Wordpress Plugin.
    As I am not a native Englis Speaker I ty to outsource many TRaffic strategies.

    All traffic generation techniques require ONE important thing and that is
    PATIENCE

    Whether it be video, articles, forums, blogs, whatever. if you do them the RIGHT way, Traffic would definately come but it takes time and effort while now days, there is a mind set that, 'working from home business are easy'
    and i really think that this mindset needs to be changed dramatically.

    My biggest traffic generator is SEO...For example we doubled the traffic to one of our clients to 60,000 unique visitors a month..This does not include Yahoo and the other search engines..Looking at the backend they gain lots of conversions from it as well since the keywords are very targeted...You can have a look here www.marketingignite.com so you can see more details...
    I just wanted to show that if you do SEO the right way and truly understand how it works, you can gain lots of targeted traffic to your site...There are of course other methods that are also very effective but from looking at the stats from my clients, SEO brings in the most, then usually PPC traffic...
