Not sure if this has been put up here yet, but it won't hurt to mention it again if it has.

This is hands down the best examination of website ad placement that I have read.
Whether you are experienced or not, you WILL learn something.
Must read for anyone with ads (including adsense, banners, any ads at all) on their website.

Simply improving your conversion rate will allow you to increase sales without more traffic...

But you have to have some kind of measuring system in place, so that you can compare apples to apples when you are ready to make a change...

Copy A gets 2% conversion... If Copy B can get 6% conversion instead, then you will have tripled sales on the same traffic level...

And honestly, it is often cheaper and easier to increase conversion rates than it is to drive new traffic...

The idea is RETENTION SALES. Show your current customers a new product that is helping you. Promote, promote, promote to your current customer base. You don't have to overdo it. If you have built a rapport with your customers and earned their trust, then you will increase your income because they will consider you an expert on the subject.

Increasing either the price or your conversions will for sure increase your income but there is another method that will even out do either of these.

And most people aren't taking advantage of it!

In essence, what I was suggesting is doing some Split A-B testing, with two versions of your sales copy....

After testing against a certain amount of traffic, you can derive a sales conversion rate for both pages...

For example... Sales Copy A sells 2 products for every 100 visitors (2% Conversion Rate)... And Sales Copy B sells 6 products for every 100 visitors (6% Conversion Rate)...

After your testing is done, you dump Sales Copy A, then start testing Sales Copy B against Sales Copy C... The one with the highest conversion rate you keep, the other you dump...

By improving your sales copy through a process of tracking and measuring conversion rates, you can improve your sales with the same amount of traffic... And in the case of my example, you triple your sales / conversions on the same amount of traffic...

Retention Sales or Repeat Sales is another element to consider... This is selling more products and services to your existing customers...

If someone buys your primary offer, then offer them an up-sell, down-sell or cross-sell after purchase...

It has been shown time and again that it is much cheaper to sell more stuff to existing customers, than it is to go chasing new customers...

This is a Cryptic Answer...

You have said that you can make more money with the same amount of traffic by either:

A. Increasing Product Price;
B. Increasing Your Conversion Rate;
C. Repeat Sales; and
D. ????????????

So, what is your suggested alternative that most people are not taking advantage of??

Here is a quick way to help out even more.

1) Make sure you getting traffic that is targeted.

2) Have better copy (advertising words / sales messages)

That will increase your income, and you will see effects almost instantly. Tis all about testing, testing and more testing. All good marketers are constant testing their stuff to increase conversions. I am a testing nut....so make sure you are doing this from day to day.

  Yes, this is how to improve revenue for an information page, but you don't necessarily want to sell links or advertising on pages where you are attempting to sell your own products....
