Hot Niche - Sex Addiction

So called sex addiction is a great niche for both adsense and affiliate marketing. Our oversexualized society creates armies of people who are sexually confused, many of whom get completely out of control , and dont seek help until they are 100% ready to get help.

All this creates suffering, for both "addicts" and their families. So you can target any aspect of it - sex addiction, porn addiction, love addiction, masturb. Addiction etc.

I've been in this niche for over 3 years. I actually run a not for profit site very part time, that gets by on some affiliate sales. Byt if you look at it I compete with my own monitization sources by giving out info for free. Still I get somewhere from $100 to $400 per month in affiliate commission almost on autopilot.

That being said if you monetize your site properly I belive this niche has some top $$$ and is only expected to grow exponentially over time. I trully feel that it is a ticking time bomb. So if you get on board early you can be a part of solution while at the same time getting paid for it.

I am not sure what you mean, but what I meant by not for profit is that I purposly offer help to people who do not have money and who is not looking to pay for a product. I am curently developing a for profit version of this site for more afluent population.

There's no such thing as "sex addiction", I might be wrong but I'm not aware till date of a trustful medical source that demonstrates that sex is unhealthy or even worse it could be an addiction at some point. ;-)

Pathetic niche, I wouldn't bother just because of my principles.

Probably abstinence should be a HOT niche instead. How about that?
Good way of putting it. I have trouble with the glamourizing of this idea, as well. It's not a "hot niche"...

Since this is IM forum I believe that discussion of reality of "sex addiction" is irelavant.

I think what is relavent is that it is an easy to dominate niche with a large number of people desperately looking for a solution to their problem. It is not so important if you don't believe their problem to be real, as long as they believe it to be real.

Ignoring the personal morality issues - if this is such a great niche to monitize, why are you earning 100-400 a month?

It is not so important if you don't believe their problem to be real, as long as they believe it to be real.
To me, that is a problem. If you understand and believe in the problems you can offer solutions that might truly help. If you are catering to a niche in the hope of profiting from the niche - without belief and empathy for those suffering from the problem - many will see through a ploy.

I agree this could be a profitable niche for someone who is comfortable and knowledgeable - I don't agree it's a good niche for people to "try" as a money maker.

Good point, but like I said it is not profitable for me because making $ was not my main objective when I started this site. I only got interested in IM a litle over a year ago. Plus I've made evry possible IM mistake when creating this site.

You are right though, somebody who doesn't belive in/ doesn't understand the problem might have a hard time earning money in this niche.

As far as I can tell the Sex Addiction trend started when David Duchovny got treatment about it.

It is ( in my humble opinion) up there with ADD and ADHD on the list of illnesses that have developed as a result of the way our society evolves and how we perceive it evolves rather than from a pathology (but I´m not a doctor so feel free to correct me if you ar ein a position to do so).

The way I see it, to be diagnosed with sex addiction there should be a clear standard of what level of "consumption" would be standard and from which point it becomes an addiction.

Good luck agreeing how much is ok and how much is too much on that one.

That said, of course some people will probably out of control out there but I think this niche would be best served by people that is qualified to do so rather than average Joe just trying to make a quick buck out of it.

Of course this is just my opinion so feel free to disregard it at your earliest convenience

it is crazy niche ... and is a real world problem. the amount of traffic on porn website is crazy .

And ofcourse there would be people who can't watching porn and have an unhealthy addiction. I guess if you could really solve their problem and got paid for it that would be great .

If you are just trying to make a quick buck without actually helping that is not ok

Thank you for your opinion... When I was making this post I had a thought going through my head. Don't do this man, all of the warriors will completely dominate the niche and I will lose my top ratings in google SER.

But it looks from the response that I am getting on here that my "secret" niche is safe

Do some research and you'll find out that you are very wrong. Sex is a healthy activity among individuals who do it in a healthy manner.

There is such a thing as sex addiction and you're attitude towards it is very ignorant. It's pretty common though with regards to addiction to run into uneducated people who can't see things from the other side. Sex addiction, just like drug addiction and alcoholism is a very real illness and one that has been well documented to be classified as a disease.

Sex addiction is very real and creates a lot of problems for the people who suffer from it. Just like drugs, sex causes pleasant feelings. Some people learn to associate being happy with having sex, and therefore seek out sex with as many partners as much as possible. This can lead them into a very desperate life and one that rivals that of a heroin addict or full blown alcoholic. Very damaging and in many cases causes irreparable harm to someone.

Maybe you should do some more research before saying that a trustful medical source would demonstrate sex addiction. It's out there and it's very real.

I'm not trying to come off like a dick, but educating people about addiction is something that I'm very serious about. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there and it isn't very real.

I have dealt with drug addiction from an early age and I've shared rooms with many people addicted to other pleasant feelings including sex, gambling, and shopping - all of which are very real and very damaging.

I remember my first tour through Pompeii when the tour director stopped outside the ruins of a small area that had one giant phallus symbol on the wall. Seems advertising worked back then too Guess what they were selling 2000 years ago.

There's even a lot of circumstantial evidence that sex has been around a very long time before then too...

There's always a small percentage of folks in every society who have a mental illness to deal with - so sex addiction is real - and is a treatable condition in the mental health area. But lets face it, like food, without it we're doomed - both individually and as a species. And of course to the people who want to help - its in their best interest to 'diagnose' as many people to have the 'illness' as possible.

However, lets face it - porn/sex drives innovation. Maybe not as much as warfare - but its right up there. What made photography so widespread in the 19th century - grandpa taking pictures of the grand kids or stuck up Victorians snapping porn?

Edison's motion pictures driven by Hollywood - or by stag films?

VCRs propagated by a new generation of grandpas or by being able to watch porn in the privacy of your own home?

And lets not forget our industry. You think the Syndicate drove the need for streaming video? Clickbank drove the need for credit card processing? Programmers drove the need for membership site software - yea right.

In our society SEX is controversial and to use a cliche - it SELLs.

        --Jack

Bill - sorry, can't resist - but after reading your earlier thread on getting money for starting IM and this one I thought of several ways to get startup capital now - I won't say all of the ideas - but for men one of them could be sperm donation - take care of that addiction AND get paid!

This is a pretty interesting niche.. there must not be too much competition either and a lot of people are starting to believe in this sex "addiction" (i personally do NOT) but it's become a hot topic ever since mr. woods LOL -- Where would you go about finding Sex Addiction Offers though?

My top affiliat program is candeocan.com, they charge an ongoing $47 monthly fee, and give you 25% of that.

Books for partners (wifes) of sex addicts also sell really well, and there is a lot of uncaptured traffic in that area.

And this is just scratching the surface, I am sure you can find a lot
      more.

And that's where the problem lies in such niches. You have to have a certain amount of "what's in it for me" to really profit.

Colin is right - though the niche may be aimed at helping those with addictions, the money may be in feeding the addictions.

There really are people who realize they are suffering from an unwanted sex/porn/etc. addiction problem. Quite a few years ago, I participated in a site where people could come to us anonymously (it was word of mouth, no advertising, no selling anything) for assistance to overcome this and other problems. Sometimes it was the spouses of the addicts who came by for some assistance because of the effect it had on their marriage and family life that was destroying them. This was years before it became public that Ducovny, et al had their problems in the spotlight.

If anyone is serious about running with this idea, they should seriously think about how to use CPV and PPV traffic for this.

If you can input target URLs with nudity on them, you could then promote the "stop masturbating" offer to people visiting those sites.

Although I know you can't send traffic to a site with nudity, there isn't any on the Stop Pornography Addiction to Porn | Masturbation Addiction Help site referenced earlier... so the campaign would pass that test.

The only question is whether or not the CPV company would allow you to target URLs that do have nudity on them.
