Google Deletes my Blog ?? An Example of Why You Need to be Prepared and Take a Plan of Action !!

I have been blogging for almost 3 years now. I have been with Google's free Blogger all that time with my own self hosted Domain. But in March of this year I decided that I would move some of my Sites over to Wordpress where I have more control. But I kept my two money sites at Blogger because they were doing so good so I figured why change a good thing, right.

But during this time I was always prepared in migrating these two blogs over to WP in case Google slammed the hammer down on me.

Well, last week look what I got from Google:
"This blog has been locked due to possible Blogger Terms of Service violations. You may not publish new posts until your blog is reviewed and unlocked.
This blog will be deleted within 20 days unless you request a review. "

Luckily, I have been backing up ALL my Posts on these two Blogger Blogs. And I simply imported all these Posts to a new WP Blog. And I went to GODaddy and pointed my Blog Domains to Hostgator where I now have my own hosting account .

So no sleepless nights for me.

And I want to stress to anyone using Blogger (for serious monetary purposes) to at the minimum have your own Domain name. And on top of this be prepared to switch to WP in case Google puts the axe down on you.

You newbies out there who are content with just using free Blogger do yourself a huge favor and TAKE ACTION and transfer over to Wordpress and get your own hosting. Paying $10/month is nothing compared to the heartache you will have if your Blog is deleted. At the least be prepared to migrate over to WP in case Google does to you what they did to me !! You will NOT regret it .

Yeah you cannot underestimate the importance of regular backups and having a Plan B - especially if you are not in 100% control of the site.

Good work in seeing the risk and preparing yourself for what eventually happened.

Spreading risk is something very few affiliates do properly. Think beyond just backups and think about spreading risk over several sites, niches, platforms, and even split between affiliate and merchant sites.

They didn't delete your blog unless you weren't proactive in addressing the situation. Don't panic, just request a review. If your content is legit and you don't have any funny business going on with it you'll be reinstated after a manual review.

I do agree it's better long term to have your own domain(s) and, due to more aggressive automated spam enforcement on Blogger that creates a lot of false positives, I no longer recommend it as a way to bootstrap a niche marketing site business. I did leave most of my Blogger sites up after moving to a new domain, using them to pass authority to the new site.

Yep, what bgmacaw said. I've had many Blogger blogs go under review like that. Probably 30 over the last few years. In all but one case, they were reinstated after I requested it. The one that wasn't was my own stupidity and well deserved. I like your caution and your reminder to back things up, but don't give up on your money Blogger blogs so fast! Ask for a review unless you know you're doing something that breaks their TOS.

Yeah, I exported all my Posts from Blogger to my new WP weeks ago and got everything set up at my new WP blog. I have been away from my computer for 6 days because of Moving.
When I log on yesterday Google had deleted that old Blogger Blog on my Dashboard. I am glad I went ahead and exported all that and changed DNS.

But here is some bad news. Out of those 180 Posts I exported all of them but only changed the Permalinks on the most recent 100 at WP!!

How will these effect the productivity and earnings of my blog. I seem to get most of my traffic from the main domain anyway. But I am sick about losing those oldest pages permalinks which have gained PR in the last 2.5 years.

What do you think. Should I contact Google Blogger and see if they will give me access to those last 80 pages so I can change permalinks on the corresponding posts at WP ??
