Business Models - Questions and Answers

We all should know the basics of IM and those basics lead to creating a business model for ourselves. That business model leads to our success.

I am a newbie in the stage where I need to understand business models. I have read many posts and they have it all listed what needs to be done but never explain this part in depth. Keyword research is always explained in depth. That is the beginning and a very important part of all this. But without a good business model you will never have success.

Please correct me if I am wrong on this but when I hear business model in this industry I think of how the traffic is brought. PPC, SEO, article marketing, forums, yahoo answers, craigslist, whatever. We use one (ppc) or many of these that creates a business model(s) for ourselves.

I want input on how to create some and what people are doing. This will not only help me but those that are also struggling as well. I guess what I am looking for is systems. This part of the equation seems always to be left out in our education. I guess it is because we learn the basics and a business model is left to us to figure one out.

Lets change this and start talking more about this great need that currently there is not there.

Thank you and your input will greatly be appreciated by many.

Business model simply means how do you generate revenue. There are several business model in online marketing. Namely, eCommerce (you sell products), affiliate marketing (you promote others products), advertising (you build authority sites and get advertisers, like adsense), membership sites (recurring income from members).

You can build your entire business on one business model (not recommended) or you can integrate and have a few. For example an eCommerce site with ads.

SEO, PPC, article marketing are just methods to drive traffic, without a good business model, you will still die even with lots of traffic coming to your site.

As a beginner, i suggest you start off with affiliate marketing, once you know how to sell other people's products, you can then consider selling your own products.....Good luck!

I will build on what fated82 started.

There are basic business models such as affiliate marketing or membership sites, but those are to big.

You need to stay more focused than that.

A simple business model could be to pick a niche content area (again many skills in picking the 'right' niche) and then build a content site around that niche. From there create something of value about that content area (report, lesson, etc) and offer that in exchange for email address. Now you have a list of people interested in a niche topic. Send them good quality information and quality offers. Do not go overboard on the offers. Keep adding to the content site and keep gathering email addresses. As you build your list you will increase your income when more people accept your offers.

A second simple business model is very similar - build a niche content site and rather than collect email addresses, simply have offers built right into the site. As people visit you site (from high google rankings) some will click on your offers and purchase. Usually the revenue in this model is lower, but not as much long term work - sort of build it, set it and forget it. Let it earn $1/day. Then go build another site.

PLR business model is common if you can write or learn to write. Research a topic, create articles, reports, ebooks and sell the content in a WSO. As you build up a customer list, go back to them with more PLR content. This is common as there are many many niche areas that people are looking for content, and new trends and fads come around every day that you can write about.

Search around, almost every other post will be describing a business model of some kind. You will learn much more as you read.

Here are a couple posts that describe some different business models:

To add on the above posts.

Once you have your business plan. Make sure everything you is only to grow your business based on your business plan.

When you buy a training course, make sure it is tasks like
    - increase traffic
    - increase email list
    - improve conversion
    - monetize your list

    What to avoid
    - how to make $4000 a day with no work
    - how to do affiliate marketer (when your business plan is only niche market site or eccomerce) - you get the point.

Just focus on the business plan, as above, and grow.

    Cheers,
    Mukul
