Creating forum profiles for the sole purpose of getting a backlink defeats the object of why backlinks help with rankings. "Classic spam" means "A lot of so-called black--hatted marketers probably do this" ... to the irritation of forum owners (why would they want loads of people joining who have no intention of providing anything to the community), google, and "legitimate" marketers or "white hat" marketers.

A good backlink comes from someone who has independently and impartially come across your website and posted a review or mention of your site on their blog or site, or decided to include you in their resources page.

Other legitimate ways of obtaining backlinks include: writing articles; submitting press releases; creating Web 2.0 properties; blogging; commenting on blogs although all these methods can be abused in a "classic spam"-like way.

I don't consider myself to be black hat, but I don't call myself white hat hat. I lie in the middle somewhere. I think I'll create the grey hatters.

I don't strictly spam and exploit weak blogs and sites with the sole intention of backlinking; I do contribute on occassion. Plus I do honest work very often. So to call black hatters a non contributing group is a bit insulting to myself.

Put simply if you aren't using "black hat" software such as article bot or scrape box you are missing out on alot. and honestly wasting a ton of your time.

I am guilty of spamming the web with the sole purpose of obtaining backlinks, but I don't consider it spamming unless I hit the same blog or site multiple times over and over.

Doesn't matter how you consider it.

If you're using someone else's resources for your own benefit without providing some kind of value in kind, you're spamming, whether you hit the site once or a hundred times a day.

If the resource owner considers it spamming, then it is.

If you think that's what you have to do, go for it. Just man up and admit that's what you're doing instead of this "I only hit a site once, so it's not spam" bullcrap.

I am just trying to make my money, sir. I don't intend to piss people off in the process, but if that is what i have to do so be it.

I am not sorry for "spamming" sites because I contribute back to the web in multiple ways. Whether the blogs I spam comments to benefit or not. I really don't care.

Consider the other "money-making systems" that could say the same thing. Some legal, some not.

To the extent that you're making money by knowingly doing things that harm others, you are a parasite. Where you're adding value, you're not. You get to choose which you want to be, but don't think anyone is obliged to respect the damaging parts of your activities. Or to buy the "I'm just trying to make money" comment as any form of justification.

Spammers, pickpockets and identity thieves, among others, say the exact same thing.

The only individual I am trying to please with my parasitic like ways here is Google so I can rank well. As long as google is happy with me I am happy with my actions.

I share my methods on here with all the other warriors, so you shouldn' get so mad.
