Which converts better, video or no video on a squeeze page?

Of course, I guess, there's a good chance if you look like Shrek, you might not do too well with video... but I've found I am getting better results with video - and I'm not Jonathan Budd. And yet a lot of marketers say they get better results without. So, what are the deciding factors for you guys?

Just have to test it out. For about 6 months, I was seeing better results using video squeeze page, but the past month and a half my text only squeeze pages are converting higher.

This is in the IM niche though and it's a different beast. My microniche sites are all doing better still with video squeezes.

I get better results with text landing pages. Make them
small, above the fold and don't forget social proof.

My signature landing page is my best converting page yet.

There are too many variables involved to make a definitive statement one way or the other. A lot depends on the target market you're approaching, and video can be a very polarizing element. Some people absolutely love it, and others detest it.

The implementation of video on your website also matters. The most disliked type of video in my opinion is the autoplay one with no controls other than to stop/pause it. The type of video you place on your site also has a strong bearing on the conversions you experience.

With that said, I think it's clear enough that we shouldn't jump to conclusions one way or the other. When in doubt, split test and tweak your squeeze pages until you find the one that gives YOU the best conversions!

  • If you go for video, I'd recommend you to make the video short (under 3 minutes). According to my split tests, it's easy to lose your visitors' attention if you drag the video too long unless you're a video wizard, so keep it short and straight to the point.

Video squeeze pages do much better for my business.

As a former video producer, it pains me to say this, but the less quality videos actually do better for me. It seems that customers want more honesty and personalization than they do flashy professionally made infomercial type stuff. A simple talking head video shot from a webcam works very well for some niches.

Sitepal.com is a great, simple way to do it.

You can write the text in notepad, choose an "actor," import your script and you've got a talking head video without a webcam.

And they work. They've never failed me in my tests.

      Cheers,
