When Is Your Site A Brand?

I was talking about this yesterday with some people and just curious.

When do you consider website a brand.

I get 2500 to 3000 searches for 3 versions of my sites name
Example
SITE NAME
SITENAME
www.SITENAME.com

Would that be considered a brand name or when would it be a brand name?

a brand is something that people are familiar with and trust. I dont think it matters how many unique searches you get.

Branding is something that you have to work on, it is not something that just happens.... unless you are really lucky. Whenever I start a project, I think about branding from the very beginning. I make sure that I am using the name again and again. I make sure that all of my advertising coincides with the name, etc, etc. Branding is an art, a technique, something you have to work at. It is not a result of how much traffic you get.

There are some good free sites out there that give some good advice for branding online. Let me google that for you

You are a brand when people are seeking you out by name. It doesn't count if the name you have chosen for your site is a name that is already out there like 'wooden floors'.

When thousands of people are seeking not just wooden floors but THE Wooden Floors by you specifically - then you are a brand.
