feedback please.... from Church to web?

Hey everyone.... Eric Parnell here.

I am brand new here and looking for some feedback.
I currently do video and graphics full time for my church...
the pay is ok but I can really use some more work/$$$$

I am looking to make an extra $1,000+ a month.
Right now there's more month at the end of the money if you know what I mean I'm in a tight spot financially right now... I won't bore you with the details... all I do know...
is it's time to do something different and I know I can start turning things around by starting a web business.

I have a ton of experience with video production and can make killer graphics.
I've just never tried to market online.

What do you think?

Do you think there is much of a market for website videos...?
I could edit peoples current videos... add music... make better transitions, do all the tech stuff pretty easily.
I could make boring vids into awesome exciting vids... or even do short "infomercials" of peoples websites and then they can submit to all the video directories????

Or do headers or custom logo work?

With so many potential products/services to offer.... how do I choose a place to start?

Putting a portfolio and my first site together right now.

Thanks for any tips!

Eric

Hi Eric, welcome to the warriorforum.

Yes Eric, there is a market for those services to marketers who don't have those skills, or who do have the skills but not the time.

Right here on the warriorforum is a good place to market your skills.

Do so by putting up some examples and post the link in your signature.

Read the forum rules about spamming, an only do your link post in your signature.

This is a good place to start.

Do a search on video and graphics to see what has been written.

Hey guys, thanks for your tips. So the main thing I need to work on is getting more samples of my work online, which I am currently working on and should have within the next week.

You both mentioned getting work right here on the forum. After I get more samples posted then what would be my next steps for getting work on here?

Would I simply start a post telling of my services or mainly comment on applicable threads? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I used to work for Superpages.com, and I can tell you that video ads are hot now. All of the major internet yellow pages, including Yellowpages.com, Superpages.com, and Yellowbook.com are starting to offer video advertising to their advertisers.

VideoAds, as the poster above said. Also, have you considered advertising yourself as a wedding video service in your town? (would be good if you got some samples on a website for this, but you could always schlep your laptop to appointments and show prospects what you can do)

Also consider offering your services to companies who offer in-house training. Their PowerPoint presentations are usually pretty boring, and you could offer to spice 'em up a bit. If you found a writing partner, you could pitch the whole package - take their raw content and create a full-fledged presentation for them.

A spin-off of this is if companies are doing in-person in-house training, you can video the training, and the company can offer thier employees a self-paced version of their training.

If I come up with any more ideas, I'll post again...

You are in a great position to profit! Loads of people need help with the technical aspects of being online. You got good advice above. Be patient and persistent; get your samples circulating, and you'll soon have work--maybe more than you can handle! Good luck!

I like the sound of that! The video ads sound like they could be a great source of clients also. I wonder if those would all have to be shot on location or if the ads would be generic enough that they would be something I could create on my own. Anybody?
