Are there any good traffic exchanges out there?

I have been in online marketing for several years. No business degree, so I have made tons of mistakes & spent lots more money on advertising than I ever thought I would. All with little results. But I did learn a lot from my failures.

My question is: Are there any good traffic exchanges out there? I have done the G & Y ad thing, and made them both happy for a while. So now I am going with the more economical method - traffic exchanges.

Yes, I am actually surfing hundreds of sites daily just to get my site's splash seen. And, surprisingly, this change in marketing method has resulted in a much greater number of signups. However, I would like to see at least 20 new members a day.

Some of the TE's that I surf show my splash up to a whopping 20 times daily! Very dissapointing returns on my surfing efforts of 200-300 per day on each TE!

Also, could someone explain the concept of "links back" to me? How are they created & how are they picked up?

Thank you for your help!

TEs are good if you know how to use them. Most don't. Since you are using a splash page, then you do.

    Two questions:-

Are you using manual or auto TEs? Manual are much better, IMHO.

Are you only using one splash page though? If so, perhaps the page is not effective.

If you have not done so, try changing one part of your page and submit it again. Use the original page and the revised one. Utilize one of the many TE tracking systems available to track and monitor your results. See which of your pages performs the better.

Next try altering something else on your page and compare it with a previous page. Always alter and track only one change at a time. That way you can identify the change that has contributed to the inprovement in results.

There are a number of TE ranking sites available, have a look at them and if you are not a member of some of the top twenty manual exchanges, then join some of them.

Visit one of the dedicated TE Exchange forums, such as the Net Marketing Forum where you can get advice from the 'horses mouth'.

Net Marketing Forum (not an aff link).

Finally, ignore anyone who says that TEs don't work, unless they can provide proof that they have actually tried them and attempted to use them effectively.

    Just my thoughts,

    Jeff.

      Thanks, Jeff!

I have considered tracking my various splash pages, but have not acted on it yet. I needed the reminder!

I am no expert and all, but I tried them for around a few months when I became a member of OBA/TEP. I wasted quite a bit of money purchasing credits to promote my splash pages and banners and text links in the TEs. I personally had no luck with them and can only talk from my experience. Personally I don't really believe in the value of them as the people on there are often just surfing for credits so they can obviously spend them on promoting their own offers. You have people trying to sell/market to people who in turn are just trying to do the same thing as well. To me, at the end of the day the real beneficiary is the TE owner themselves. I have nothing against that, but I am glad for myself that I understand what I feel they offer and have a more "realistic" idea of how they work in practice.
