Coaching Program - Should I Offer 50% Commissions?

I'm going to have a $497 coaching program for a low-cost ebook. The deal is so great that I can't offer refunds; I will be working with students until they achieve their goals. Affiliate commissions will be paid instantly - if I do end up offering commissions on it. The affiliate network I'm using for it has 50% commissions as the lowest option unless you go with 0%. That means for every other sale that an affiliate brings in for it, I'm working my butt off for no pay, since they get 100% of every other sale. In the long run, this could be a good thing that would motivate my affiliates to promote more for me. It's just that I don't like the idea of going to so much trouble in the meantime. I'm faced with the dilemma of either screwing over my affiliates by not offering commissions on the coaching program, or giving them a great benefit and being screwed over myself...

And why is 0% and 50% the only commission options for you?

The affiliate network doesn't have a 25% option.

Either think of other ways to upsell your coaching students to earn the money back, since they get on your list once they become your students.

    Or find another affiliate network.

50% of $497 is little money for such a big commitment.
Will this coaching program be one-to-one or one-to many?

It will be conducted via email, one-on-one.

You said that you would be working with your students until they reach their goals. I would be very clear about what exactly this means up front. You should have a strict set of milestones that each of your students much reach in order for your training to continue. If you don't do this, then you will be stuck with some students that will do absolutely nothing except soak in all of your ongoing lessons.

If they do nothing and you promised to keep working with them until they reach their goals, then you will find yourself working for pennies an hour in the long run. Be specific with your promises and force your students to reach milestones!

I know that this had nothing to do with your affiliate commissions question, but I just thought I would throw it out at you.

Brian, that's a great point. I'll have homework assignments for them to complete. I won't be sending a scheduled pre-made coaching program to them. It's an interactive one, so they have to contribute as well.
