Basic Affiliate Marketing Questions

1) When signing up for a program, do I have to list every website that I want to put their products on or just one?

2) If I put a link to lets say book "x" at Amazon and someone clicks on it but decides to buy something else at Amazon do I still get the commission? Do all programs work the same in this respect?

3) What is the easiest web builder for a newbie that will give quality looking results? Does Webpress do websites or just blogs?

Thanks. I do know how to search but cannot always find answers. I will try to keep my questions to minimum. Don't want to drive everyone nuts.

    1. Programs that require you to have a websie usually just need to see that you have one, so listing one is fine.

    2. Yes, you will get commissions if they purchase another product after reaching amazon through your affiliate link. At least for that visit anyway.

    3. Wordpress create blogs but can be set up in such a way that it looks more like a static site than a blog.

Can anyone else give me some feedback on question 3? Which website building software is best for a newbie?

Definitely go with WordPress. There's no reason you have to use it for a "blog", i.e., a journal of separate posts. You can simply use the pages to create a small site, and build it out later.

The reason people rave about WordPress so much is because it's easy to use (even easier than using Microsoft Word), and the design is independent of the content so it can be adjusted later. Free themes are easy to find to make your site look good enough. And you don't have to pay a designer until you want to and have the cash flow.

The website builders that come with other systems, like in some webhosting companies like GoDaddy, GDI, VistaPrint, Intuit, etc., may make websites but their templates are either too clunky to really work with, or they produce a lot of weird code that your next "webmaster" will be really aggravated about having to fix later.

    Good luck!

p.s. Make sure you get a hosting account with a site that has cPanel so you can install your blog in just a couple of clicks.

  • WordPress ROCKS! Like others here have said, you don't have to use as a blog, per say. You can search here on the Forum for WSO Start-ups or Turnkey sites that are pretty much all WordPress sites, then upload them to Blue Host. The pre-installed pug-ins alone with help your SEO efforts right of the bat!
