Use hostgator, unlimited domains, baby package, very cheap about $10 a month from what i remember.

Sub domains are like

subdomain.maindomain.com

Subdomains:
subdomain.site.com
subdomain2.site.com

All hosts I know allow you to create subdomains.

I cannot agree more. The Internet is full of crappy sites. I don't know that we need more and my guess is that you will spend a great deal of time working on sites that won't produce for you.

My own experience is that I have numerous websites, but only one earns any money for me. That one site produces what many people would consider a good full-time income. It just happens that this one site received most of my attention, is generally seen as a high quality site, and as a result attracts a quality audience.

I agree with the others...

1. Hostgator is a great company. I've been using them for years.
2. Focus on one site.

I would add to this that the main goal of this site should be for you to build a mailing list. That is the one thing that most people overlook when they get started. They put it off and focus only on making those first few quick affiliate sales. Before they know it, two years have gone by and they still don't have a mailing list.

You simply cannot go wrong with Hostgator. They have excellent customer service, and if you're a newbie just starting out it's really a great help to be able to get technical assistance from them whenever you need it.

I agree with the others about building one site first. Don't use subdomains for now, as you sound like you're really new at this and you just need to concentrate on building one good site first, and then drive traffic to it. Believe me, you'll have more on your hands than you think you can handle for at least the first few weeks just setting up one site properly!

IMO, focusing on one site is great once you have worked out which site to focus on. When I started IM, I built 10 sites on several different topics, making the same amount of effort for each of them. One took off and now produces the majority of my income - the rest either act as feeders for that one, or have fallen by the wayside. If I had started with just one site, and it had been one of the others which never took off, I might still be struggling to get traction.

The other downside of the "one site focus" strategy is that all your eggs are in one basket. If that site gets hacked, or delisted by G, or (a number of other disasters), you are in big trouble.

Oh, and the site in my SIG is not my main income site - it's much, much older than that and is mostly just for fun now.

I would definitely say start with one and get as in depth as you can with that one and while your doing it make a list of a step by step process and what you go through every day so that the next site you set up will be that much easier and so on...

I wish I had made a list with my first site. Then trying to remember all the little things you have to do would have come much quicker with the second and 3rd.

Going to disagree with many people here. Unless you're going to be using subdomains (not recommended), don't stick to one site.

Get a few .coms for different subjects your interested in, put work into all of them, and see how they start doing. Normally, one of these sites will start taking off and you'll start getting revenue and this is the site you'll want to stick with.

Worst case scenario? None of them take off and you're back to here.
Best case scenario? They all take off and you get filthy rich.

I have to agree with those suggesting to explore with a few sites. That's what I did and now I've "circled the wagons" so-to-speak and am focusing on a couple sites I enjoy and that earn the most money.

It took me a while to figure out which types of sites my writing style and voice is best suited.

I also figure the other sites I started that are now on the back-burner may attract my attention in the future. I certainly am not letting the domains lapse. Who knows - I may develop them in the future.

I too just started from scratch. I had huge aspirations when starting out. I got my first site up and going, but before building any back links or trying to drive traffic to it I had another idea for a site so I bought the domain. After buying that domain I came up with what I thought was another great idea. So I wrote an ebook, got the site built and am already contacting webmasters directly asking if they would be interested to place one of my banners on their site for 50% commission once my book is approved by ClickBank (another 2 days, I hope).

So what I have going on right now is one site that I am learning how to drive traffic to. Another site that will sell my own product and I will be working that one a lot more in the coming days and a domain sitting with nothing on it, because I don't have the time to work on it and probably won't until December.

Build one site on a subject you are passionate about and promote it. I think you'll find it take a significant amount of time and effort and/or money to get a good site going. If you think its time consuming to get the site up.... wait until you have to build quality back links and promote it. Stick with one and you'll learn everything you need to know. Once successful, replicate the process.

As suggested above, the hostgator baby plan is great for what you want to do.

I wouldn't focus on just one site... but you also need to balance it so that you don't spread yourself too thin.

Personally, I think it is more important to get a system going that you use for keyword research, content generation and backlinks so you can apply that to each site. Then run each through the system and see which are your high earners and focus more on those.

You also want to use seperate domains (not just subomains or folders off the main domains) that way you will be able to sell off the ones that don't earn as much as you want.
