  • Yes this was a little disturbing, I am not sure if this is your way of advertising or what...

Lol! It is not me. I owned that domain for two years but never found anyting to do with it so I let it expire.

I now check back and see what happened to it. I just wanted to remind people that you want to take care of your brand and your online names.

I am from Norway, and not Toronto. I make my income from my Google knowledge and not my body :-)

    Huh...what a mess.
If you want your name to be clean, then protect it.
How you said: don't let you domain expire.
Someone will use it for nasty things and stain your name.

Am I right to say that if we did not personally renew our domain names, the registrar that we bought the name from will cancel it from us. Don't they prompt us in advance?

GoDaddy gets a bit of stick now and again from some folks on this forum, but one of the benefits of registering domains with them is that it's almost impossible to forget to renew them.

They start sending reminders about three months before expiry! Plus you can have them set on auto-renew, where your credit card is automatically charged on the due date.

I prefer to renew mine manually as I've always been able to find a discount coupon that will give 20% or 30% off.

I use GoDaddy for my .coms and 123reg for my .co.uk domains. It's just cheaper that way. I don't get anywhere near the amount of reminders from 123reg, so I have to be a bit more switched on with them.

But if you do forget for some reason they'll charge you an $80 redemption fee.
Namecheap won't charge you a penny.
