Does anyone have podcast tips?

INTERNET MARKETING

I really like the idea of re-purposing my content. I just got a cheap camcorder and made videos of myself reading (hated it, but backlinks is backlinks).

Now, I'm thinking I can rip the audio from the video and make a podcast of it. Maybe, put it on a Blogger/Wordpress.org blog (with links to my original site) and do some linkbuilding for that?

Any suggestions?

When you say rip do you just mean put the video through software and have it copy the audio?

You can take a look at this tutorial regarding extracting audio from video

I've never used the software they mention though - I believe its free.

There is a place here Podcast Cookbook that offers a lot of tips to do with podcasting - only found them myself last week, but the information seems to cover how to put podcasts onto blogs and things like that

Traffic Geyser can do this for you, along with many video editing programmes. If you remove the video track then render the audio files as an mp3.

I use Sony Vegas which allows you to do this easily.

I would recommend adding an intro and conclusion to the podcast to polish it up, but re-purposing of this type is a good idea as long as you have a voice that is listenable and keep it within 20 minutes in length.

  I run Linux, and there are tools for taking the audio out of video; no problem.
  
  Really, I'm just looking for backlinks. It's a small niche and I'm going to be done with the site in another day or two, and start on the next (next four actually).

if you have a WP blog, Odiogo used to make a plugin that read the content right off your site, which was totally easy. Not sure if they still do that, but if your videos are basically the same thing, then this is easier than ripping the audio out of the video.
