Which is a better way to make money?

Need a little advice on where to focus my time in order to start an online business.

I am a fairly good writer and have professional writing experience. I also know quite a bit about finance, real estate and commercial real estate. I'm debating whether to focus my time and energy on creating a web site with articles that bring in adsense revenue (and maybe even market some ebooks) or to simply sell high quality PLR articles to other webmasters.

Eventually, I would like to both, but I currently work full time (in the finance industry) and therefore am limited to writing in the evenings and weekends. So I'm trying to figure out which one I should start with.....I'm leaning toward PLR, but I'm not sure how much demand there is and how saturated that business is. My hope is that I can differentiate myself on quality given my exp in both writing and finance/RE. Any suggestions?

If your familiar with SEO i would approach businesses in your local area and charge them to get to the top of the search engines for related keywords in your area of expertise.

    Finance, real estate etc...

You could even offer to write for them and place your articles on there blogs, or websites.

    The best of both Worlds.

I am not sure how well along you are in Internet marketing though but that is what I would do. Try local companies if your limited on time it's a lot more money.

From what I understand most beginners hire out their skills here on the forums earning some money on the way to learning how to start their own empires. I'm sure you'll be able to offer your writing services for article generation and specially if its in a niche like real estate

In fact I might have some use for your knowledge of real estate as I'm setting up a property website

I will certainly keep that in mind. How much do people typically charge for that.

I know the basics on SEO. My thought with PLR is that the buyer would of course rewrite and would insert their own keywords. Not that I wouldn't try to focus on SEO and keyword usage myself. But it's not my expertise. At least not yet. If I hire myself out directly the website owner would probably want the article to already be optimized.

How much to charge is really simple if you calculate your business hourly rate. Basically look at your annual overhead, annual salary, resource cost, etc. Divide it all from annual down to weekly, daily and hourly. Then simply look at what that is and think about how well you can sell it to someone or what the market will pay. What someone will pay and what you have to earn in order to stay in business have a bit of a divide between them. You have to stick by what you know you need to make first and maintain that value and believe it, then go find people who are willing to hire you. If you go find people who are just willing to pay you what they want to pay you, that is fine but it can drag you down over time. AKA, "Race to the bottom dollar".

In other words, you can find people to do this kind of stuff from $5 to $75 (globally), but the quality is the only real question. If you can do the quality work, I would say you can bid yourself anywhere from $25-$75 an hour depending on what quality you are offering. Keep in mind 80% of that is how well you speak English and can communicate the work; US English speakers hardly come up to par, so this is valuable.

How fast do you want to start making money? PLR articles could net you some income as soon as you write and promote them. An adsense website could take 1 or 2 months before you start to see anything substantial.

I'd sell seo to businesses in your niche -- there are so many keywords to rank sites for. Another area is the idea of consulting about real estate websites and real estate properties out there as stated above -- you could be an asset for people creating real estate websites and directories

If you have an interest in finance/investing and you like to write, one of the best things you could do on the side is to create a blog on that topic and write intelligently about it.

There are so many investing blogs I've come across that are nothing more than thinly veiled salesletters that are constantly pushing the latest trading system and/or forex automation robot in your face. I don't think it'd be terribly hard to distinguish yourself from them by writing intelligently and thoughtfully about investing and current financial news, and of course recommending products every now and then in a helpful manner.

    Brea,
    Couldn't you still do both?

You could write high quality articles for your own site, and then sell them as PLR packs as well. Maybe you could rewrite them by hand a bit, and you would save yourself from having to research them again...but the content being sold would still be unique PLR.

One person who is doing well in the PLR real estate space is Real Estate Investor Lindsay Rae.

Allan Gardyne from AssociatedPrograms actually recommends his services...

You may want to take a peak at how he has this setup...maybe it will give you some new ideas or ways to find a niche within the real estate PLR market that isn't being reached.

You can find his site here: PLR Membership Real Estate Articles Monthly - Private Label Rights!

His current business model is a membership style PLR site.

    Hope this helps,
