How can they get away with this?

INTERNET MARKETING

Whenever I launch products ... NEVER would I lie to the customers about the actual count of customers ...

We launched Affiliate Radar ... offered a price of $67 to the first 200 customers ... within minutes of the launch, this number was reached AND the 201st customer had to pay 77 ... 401st customer had to pay 87 and 601st customer had to pay 97 and ever since then, the price is $97.

Totally transparent ....

I just bought this tool eCover Suite Elite ... and the buy now page said (*Only Available to next 3 people - valued at $399)

Not that it was the reason for me to buy, but just out of curiosity I went back to that page after I made my purchase and it still said (*Only Available to next 3 people - valued at $399)

Didn't go down.

How could they just get away with this? isn't it false advertising, lying, cheating ???

Maybe since we try to be totally honest, something like this hits me a little too much but more offers like these would lower the trust that legitimate promotions have built with their honest promotions and deals ...

In reading their page, the part that is "only available to the next three people" is the "lifetime upgrades". So, actually, depending on how you interpret their statement, it could be truthful (though clearly misleading).

I'v always hated that "only 24 spots left!" stuff too, and never believed it, well, maybe with a few people I knew who were authentic I did, but I understood that it's all part of marketing. I researched sales hot buttons for an article I wrote, so i look for those in sales pages. Part of the system, I guess.

Actually, some people do not have automatic mechanisms to update the sales letter... They probably do it every few hours or maybe everyday.

I don't know, but I happen to do that manually in my WSO's so just guessing.

I think it's a big stretch to expect them to change their sales page after every purchase. Unless you have proof they sold more copies than they said they would, it's unfair to call it "false advertising".

I just checked the site, and it now says "available to 2 people"...

Either this thread made them fix it ... or maybe they were genuine.

Usually these updates are made automatically ... (I always do it automatically in real time) ... but maybe they do it manually ...

Irrespective ... something worked.

As Lakshay said, they may do it manually. I too did this manually when I ran my WSO and I was not always there to update it immediately.

Fudged numbers are common in the advertising world, I usually just take most numbers with a grain of salt.
