Can someone tell me why this blog gets no traffic?

Hi all I have a blog it's been up for over a year. the domain name is a low competition keyword. I've got some back links to it. but I have no traffic. Can someone help me out. What am I doing wrong? here is the site: Best Golf Balls For Sale

      Passing football? Well I do blog commenting..,.but I heard that if the keyword doesn't have much competition you dont have to do excessive backlinking. so whats going on?

    1. Perhaps the domain doesn't get searched very often in Google
    2. Perhaps you don't have an effective backlinking strategy.

    "golf balls for sale" only gets 2900 GMS and "best golf balls for sale" gets an immeasurable search volume.

    Additionally, your site doesn't have much unique content. There's a lot of reposted EZA content, which isn't going to give your site as much of a boost as fresh, unique content.

    Just by taking a quick glance at your blog it looks like you only have a handful of posts. I could only find 5 or 6 blog posts that you have up. 6 posts will generate you absolutely no traffic from google. You might get lucky and get 1 or 2 visitors every now and then from that amount of posts but you are going to need to invest a lot more time writing posts for your website.

    How many backlinks to your website do you have? You also need a lot of backlinks for your website to get ranked higher in search engines.

    You should also submit your blog to social media websites, make sure you ping your blog often as well. Also keep updating your blog. Google likes blogs that are constantly being updated with fresh and unique content.

    Looks like you rank in position 44 for "golf balls for sale". You've got a position #1 in Bing for "best golf balls for sale".

    As far as the estimated search volumes for those terms...

    golf balls for sale - 6,600 (broad) & 2,900 (exact)
    best golf balls for sale - not much...

    About a buck and a half per click being spent according to the google tool.

    As far as competition goes that you are going up against...
    Age - most sites are 10+ years old in the top 10
    PR - the top 5 sites are PR 3-5
    A lot are in the DMZ directory
    About half have a yahoo directory link
    A few sites have low backlinks, but are around 10+ years old still...

    You could try:
    -article submissions
    -video
    -forum promo
    -plus other linking methods
    -get some fresh content on your site and start publishing it more regularly

      so are you guys saying the search volume low? is 2900 low? I thought I was supposed to be looking for over a 1,000 in search volume and that was good. the fact that I added the word best to the exact keyword...did that mess things up?

    I wouldn't say that but 2900 per month for searches is low. That's less than 100 per day even allowing for all 100 persons to click through to your site and if the content isn't there to keep them they won't return. Aim to write at least 1 post per week and ensure that the posts have well on page optimised and work on a backlink strategy. Remember it takes time.

      ooooh ok so next time if I build another site what number of searches should I aim for per month? and I thought I was suppose to put the exact term in google and look for less than 50,000 competing pages is that still correct?

        There's nothing wrong with the search number 2900. The problem is that you put best in front of it it so Google sees the entire thing as the keyword phrase and with the best, the search numbers are non-existent.

        Honestly, given the competition and the best, I'd ditch that one and start over but that's me. You could add a lot more content and keep working on it but it doesn't seem worth the time for it to me.

        If you must add something to the phrase in order to get a domain, it's usually recommended to add it AFTER the keyword. Or you can try getting the keyword with one hyphen in there, preferably where it makes the most sense.

      The EZA reposts don't hurt per se, but you don't get as much 'stickyness' on your site like you would with unique content.

      When I'm looking for the BEST anything, I mean the best NOW, not the best in 2009. Your have no recent posts...

      2900 searches a day is fine if your competition level is only about 30K sites in the results. Your keywords have way too many competing sites fo you to make any advancement without some fresh, new material.

      Also, GlobalGolf is PR5, TWG is PR4, Etc Etc. Meaning, you have a LOT of work to do before you can compete with these sites. They have been around a lot longer and have more weight.

      Try doing some deeper keyword research. Don't think "Want to sell Golf Balls", think "Want to sell the BENEFIT of the best golf balls", and start new keyword research along that line. I'm thinking keywords related to whatever you call bad golf swings, poor golf form etc.

      (i don't play, i don't know the buzzwords)

    2. Because the design looks amateurish and turns off people from revisiting site or buying anything from it.
    3. Because there is not enough content/pictures.

    Also, get rid of the ads in the footer.

      Also add About, Contact, Terms of Use, Privacy, and Disclaimer pages. I don't see them, unless I'm mistaken. I've read somewhere that Google would like to see these pages, but it will also help to give your site some more trust in the eyes of some of your visitors.

    wonder how old is this site, it seems like a new one..your site is lacking of backlinks, content is fine but adding images would help for it to be more attractive, check the keyword your using for the site...

      Don't give up - but rethink your strategy for this site.

      "Golf balls for sale" - where? Not on the front page of your site.

      If a potential visitor has entered "golf balls for sale" into google, you have the perfect visitor - a potential buyer. They want to buy - they don't want to read an essay asking if they are buying the right type of golf balls.

      Get your Amazon shop on the front page. If you feel you need to add text for Google, put it below the shop.

      When you actually have something for sale, above the fold, immediately visible to visitors then start working on getting visitors.

      Look at the sites on the front page of Google for that keyword. Find out how many links they have and where those links are. Follow them. Add your link too.

      Write loads of articles and submit them to article directories. Find online directory sites (local and national) where you can add a listing for your site.

      Backlinking is hard work - the first key to a no1 spot is analysing the competition, finding out how they are getting to no1 and then trying to beat them at their own game. That should at least get you on p1 of Google.
