4.8 Million Uniques with No Monitization? Crazy!!

So, I was on Facebook and a friend had just posted to go and do the following:
  1. Go to Google (actually go to the site)
  2. Type "find Chuck Norris"
  3. Click "I'm Feeling Lucky"
I was bored and slightly curious as most Chick Norris stuff is pretty funny, if you don't already know there is a huge running obsession with Chuck Norris jokes.

So, I checked it out and it's a funny little trick that will get passed most non IM or techie types. The thing is, there isn't any monitization that can be easily found on the site. There is a link to the creators site and has some info on him, but not much else.

The owners site claims since 2008 that he has had 4.8 million unique visitors. That's pretty impressive, but it also blows my mind he hasn't monitized the site from what I can tell.

What would you do to monitize the site? Does it give you any ideas of other ways to do something similar? It just kind of made me start thinking what an Internet Marketer would do with a site like that.

    I would find some Chuck Norris products on Amazon to promote. You could probably also find some Clickbank products that relate to Chuck Norris, fitness or even karate to promote as well - perhaps there is a hollywood map to his home or something, lol.

    4.8 million visitors is quite a bit to not monetize on. I easily could have made 20,000-40,000 sales on that many targeted visitors. You could easily be talking a half to a million dollars in affiliate earnings, depending on what you promote.

    I do see sites like that and think it's a waste of traffic, but not everything on the internet is going to be monetized. Sometimes those sites get to where they are by not being monetized (a lot easier to build backlinks if you aren't monetizing your site and just offering content).

    One related product that comes to mind is the Total Gym, which Chuck has promoted heavily with Christie Brinkley over the past few years. I'm sure that there's a ton of Chuck Norris movies and memorabilia on Amazon too, so it's a crying shame this person who constructed the site is letting those 4.8 million unique visitors go to waste!

    You've stumbled on a business opportunity I stumbled across about 6 months ago. That's there are loads of sites particularly forums that are run by enthusastic people and have high hit rates but have no or little monarization. I've recently taken a 20% share in a website forum business that pulls in over 1 million uniques each year and has done for 6 years now but only has poorly placed adsense on it. They were making $1-$2k a month but I'e removed adsense and implimented a lead generation compaign for them. We offer forum subscribers a unique discount as an incentive to give their details and we make a nice bit of money for each lead. I expect to get them monthly income to in excess of $50k a month within the year!

      Yeah, I am sure there are a ton of sites like this that are not being monitized like they should or could be. I bet if we knew all the money being left on the table by most of these people it would be enough to drive us internet marketers nuts.

      Right now, it's humorous.

      The moment he starts trying to monetize it, it becomes a business.

      And then he'll possibly be slapped with a lawsuit for trademark infringement, privacy rights and/or unjust enrichment for the use of Chuck Norris' name/brand without permission.

    Jeez I never realized Google didn't make this page but I do believe reading before that it has something to do with Google and is probably why it is not monetized.
