Giving Back: How I Did My Split Test With Different Squeeze Page Using Google Adwords

Hi Warriors,

I have been learning alot from this forum since I joined and I thought that it's time to give back what I learned to any warriors who are interested to make real money online.

We all have heard that the money is in the list. i didn't buy in to it and thought that all I need to do was build mini-sites and get money from adsense. I realize there is a flaw in this system soon after i started building a couple of mini sites.

First, I came to realize that you have only one chance to sell your prospects. If they aren't interested in your offer or your content, that's it, its gone.

Second, Google change algorithm pretty often. Your mini sites could be on first page this month and it could be gone the next. The wheel will keep spinning and you will end up creating more and more mini sites to replace those that are lost in Google blackhole.

Once I realize this, I thought about the importance of building a list so that I could sell to them again and again and again.

The Challenge of Building Your List

The biggest challenge in building your own list is knowing where to start. Obviously, you want to build a big list...FAST. But without knowing where to start, you don't know how to get there.

For me, I wanted a systematic way of building a list, I went through some standard traffic generation techniques including article marketing, Yahoo Answers etc. But none can be faster than Google Adwords.

How I Use Google Adwords

Most people think that you need a huge budget to run Google Adwords campaign. But it's not true. Currently, I am spending $0.1 per click for an IM niche which can be quite competitive.

You see, your Google ads are run based on your keywords. The thing is, most people will choose 10-20 keywords and bid on them. My take is to expand the keywords from 20 to 2000 per ad group. You can do that using their Google Keyword Tool.

Once I identified certain keywords, I will run a search and dump all 700 related keywords into my ad group.

I then set all prices at $0.10 per click. But that's not all, I create 4 Ad group and each of them had about 2000 keywords.

This gives you a higher chance of getting your ads shown without spending too much money on Adwords.

Create split testing squeeze page to maximize opt-in

I ran the campaign for a week or two and realize that though I have clicks, I don't have much conversion, especially with a certain ad group. Therefore, I create a new squeeze page just for this ad group and within a day or two, I saw my opt-in rate increase up to 50%.

Right now, every time I create an ad group, I will tag it to the new squeeze page.

Conclusion

It's not wise to have only one squeeze page. If your goal is to maximize your opt-in rate, then you should have different squeeze page for different target audience.

Also, Running Adswords campaign should not be expensive, the technique highlighted above is just one little secret I learn in this forum. The goal is to have as many related keywords as possible. Don't be afraid to have 5k, 10k or even 20k keywords for your adwords campaign.

Good luck!

I have not advertised with Google Adwords yet even if they sent me a free voucher. But I do believe that your tips are golden and can be much of help once I plan to start a campaign. It'd be brilliant to offer something for free to increase your opt-ins.

How much traffic have you been able to draw to your squeeze page from Adwords, is this a good way of building your list or just better for split testing?

      Thanks for sharing anyway!
