Hi...

Somehow awhile back my computer started associating .reg files with Notepad.

So now every time I click on a .reg file to add an entry into the registry, it opens it in Notepad.

I do not know how to undo this.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

Thank you,
John

    Don`t know if this will work but try it ... go to your Registry and
    RIGHT CLICK on a .reg file. Choose Properties and you`ll see you
    can choose what program to open the file by default.

    No idea what you need to open .reg files with tho ... lol ... hope
    this helps mate

    Actually, this is a good thing, it will keep you from accidentally entering something in the registry. You should be able to right click on the .reg file and choose merge to enter it in the registry.

      To avoid similar problems in the future;

      When opening some file to look at it in Notepad by using the right click choice "Open with...", followed by the "Notepad" choice, observe the little checkbox in the program choice window that says something like "Always open with this program".

      If this one is checked, and the file should not usually be opened with Notepad, then you've got yourself a problem.
