Admin A WSO Question

INTERNET MARKETING

Allen, I know on the old forum we were not allowed to ask people to post in the thread, to make it look like social proof. Has that now changed?

Can we offer a wso and then ask people to post if they have bought or if they want the download link?

I'm pretty sure that you still are not allowed to do that.

I would guess you would get a faster answer by sending him a PM or sending a question like this through the help desk maybe?

Well, I don't see a problem as long as they're not forced too before getting the download because we don't have a reply-bump problem anymore.

I know you wouldn't force us Bev, I was speaking in general

Of course I'll wait for further notice before I do.

  Personally I like direct email, but the volume received can get out of hand. Heck, I've even had to set up my own Helpdesk on my main site, in order to filter the spam and receive only genuine enquiries.

  People still find ways around the reason for the rule. They put things like, "Post in this thread or send me a PM if you have questions"... then almost always there is something wrong with the download... or the payment button... so people ask questions in droves because they can't buy or their download was unsuccessful.
  
  IMHO this is a very shady act. It may not bump a thread, but it will get a WSO to the 20+ replies quickly.
  
  Some people tend to view threads with the most replies first. This puts new WSO's at a disadvantage all because someone can't follow a simple rule. Providing of course that the rule is still in effect.
  
  I have seen some using the, "yeah i got your PM" or "just sent you a PM" to pad the total replies. The WSO creator shouldn't be allowed to post in their own thread. They should use the PM system.
  
  The rule should be extended to only allow testimonials or un-resolved complaints as responses to the thread.
  
  But getting everyone to follow this set of rules would be a daunting task.
