Site Problems - Please Help - Will Buy A Beer For Fix!

8 replies
Hi Guys,

I thought i would post here to try and get a fix for an annoying problem that has me stumped.

Also whoever can fix this Rubik cube of a problem i will buy a beer.

Basically take a look at my site here:

FFXIV Leveling Guide _ Final Fantasy 14 Leveling Guide

If you are in Firefox you will be able to load the site up no problem and when you exit (you will see that Exitsplash) is installed and everything will work fine.

Now try loading the site in IE8 - first problem is that near the bottom the text is all red - how do i fix this?

Also try exiting the site in IE8 and the exit splash page is all the way over to the right and I have NO idea why.

Obviously i want this in the center with IE8 - please let me know if you can help?

Chris

    The red text issue: line 214:
    <p align="center" class="style5"><span class="style9"> </p>

    Your <span class="style9"> started... but there's no closing - so everything after that span is applied with "style9". so remove that.

    the exit splash thing is probably within your javascript for the exit splash. too much to go into at the moment, BUT a brief look: <iframe src="'+exitsplashpage+'" width="100%" height="100%" align="middle" frameborder="0"></iframe>

    widht 100% might be the culprit for pushing everything to the right

    For the exit splash, in your style.css - remove the " text-align:center;" in your body{

    so, from:
    body{
    margin:0;
    text-align:center;
    color:#000;
    background:#1e2a64 url(images/back.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    background-attachment:fixed;

    }

    to

    body{
    margin:0;
    color:#000;
    background:#1e2a64 url(images/back.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    background-attachment:fixed;

    }

      Tried that ^ thanks for the fast response.

      It just made the main content box appear left alligned and the header graphic stayed in the center.

      Anything else i can try?

    sorry cant help you much by just looking at the code, need to test the whole site.

    but from looking at your exit code, it's probably not the best way to do it... it's loading the age into an iframe... why not just redirect them instead?

      Yep it is the exitsplash.com package doing this so can't really change it unless i take it off.

      Have you got Skype at all?

      Might be better to give you access to the site to try and fix it?

      I will of course pay you for doing so.

        Hello Chris,

        There are quite a few errors in the code on your page. It's always a good idea to run the code through a validator such as The W3C Markup Validation Service

        Some browsers are more forgiving than others when it comes to rendering code. Validation is always a good place to start when you get unexpected results.

        Hope the link helps.

          Awesome resource!

          Thanks Myles, I will be using that from now on.

          Still I think this is something to do with the .css file or the code on the page - anyone want to help and i will pay you for the work.
