Speech to Text Software?

Dragon Naturally Speaking is one of the best that can take voice to text. However I don't believe you can take a recorded voice from an MP3. With Dragon you have to do the talking and it will type the text for you.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred can transcribe from an MP3 file, same for DNS 11 Premium.

As long as it's your recorded voice, you just make the recording in the same manner as you would if you were using DNS directly. As long as you say "period", "comma", etc., it'll transcribe the audio as if you were talking directly to it.

Dragon Naturally Speaking is the best, but Vista and up comes with a speech recognition tool. They both require good enunciation, so a mp3 usually will not work (I've tried :-/)

I have is as part of Windows XP Pro

Right click on the Toolbar at the bottom of your screen.

Choose Toolbars / Language Bar

You may have to fiddle with your microphone and other audio settings.

You can train it to a limited extent but it is far less accurate, responsive, or sophisticated than Dragon Naturally Speaking.

As offbeat as this sounds my Droid 2 cellphone has an amazing speech to text feature. You speak one sentence at a time, and need to re-press the speech button every time, but it has great accuracy. I got a notepad app, and I just USB it right to my computer, or you can even email yourself an article.

I got lazy with all the software on computers. Buying a mic, calibrating it to my voice, it takes forever. This way actually works. Hope I could help.

I'm SOOOO wanting either an iPhone w/DNS (with Verizon, hopefully next year) or an Android phone so that I can use this feature.

Go droid I love the keyboard in addition to the touch screen. I never took a likeing to the iphone, big fingers, no good on the touch screen keyboard.

Hi Dave,
I have to agree with the others about Dragon Naturally Speaking
as that is what I use.

Although if you are using Windows Vista then it has the ability to
also change voice to text and it's Free!

Look in your control panel for the "Speech Recognition Options".

You may use speech recognition software which will make your work easy.
