Sub-page ranking higher in SERPS than main domain?

I have a new site, still under development. I just noticed now that one of my subpages is on page 6 of google for my main keyword, and I haven't backlinked this page at all, yet my domain, which I've been backlinking is on page 23 now.

Is this just because the site is too new, or what?

Not at all, it's optimized for a different keyword.

    Anchor text backlinks.
Same for both and also almost the same amount of backlinks?

    Stated from there:

"I have no problems keeping up with the increasing complexity of search, but Google is setting up some serious barriers to entry for new players."

    That statement is NOT true.
