Other Warriors said they have not done this - well I DID - here's why

Yesterday (November 8) there was a thread about
the new Warrior forum banner ads where a number
of Warriors said they did not click and some said that
they would not click.

Well, I clicked one:

50% OFF - Rave reviews - Instantly double, triple or
quadruple .... etc

Here's why.

Black - stood out from all the blue on page

Split into 2 parts with 50% OFF - Rave reviews on left
which attracted my attention more than having text
all across

Gave clear benefit

Have you clicked one? Why?

What do you think would make them more clickable?

What others have said:

make good offer

don't make them look like ads

use black

attention grabbing headlines

Obviously, I am not looking for definitive answers
as nobody will have them. I am looking for starting
points to consider that people can test to see what
actually works.

Why didn't you just post this in that thread instead of creating a whole new thread?

My intention was to create a thread where people
would put ideas in to help people with creating the
      banner ads.

I thought that by creating a separate thread that
the 'positives' would not get lost in the other large
      thread.

If, I have done incorrect forum etiquette, then please
report the post. I will then learn from my mistake and
in future reply to threads instead of creating new threads

hmm I never click forum ads, they are just too obviously and look to much like ads.

But for those people that do click appealing texts should be used to persuade the users, like titles on WSO's.

Would you click the signatures at the bottom of a post?
If, yes, then why click them and not the banners -
aren't they both just different forms of ads?

So, you don't click on an ad because it looks like an ad? So, does that mean you just avoid clicking ads in general, but would click if you thought it wasn't an ad? The reason I ask is, these ARE ads, what are they supposed to look like?

        Here's 2 thoughts about why there's a difference
between clicking (or not) banner ads and signatures.

        1) their names - one is called a banner ad (word ad
in its name) and the other is called a signature (no
mention of ad). People do not consciously like ads.

        2) how people had them displayed - banner ads are
paid for, but signature allowed for posting a post. Is
it like Cialdini said that reciprocity works.

A person reading a signature thinks subconsciously
that the post writer was good enough to write info
for them so they will look at the post writer's signature.

However, a person who views a banner ad is for
something that interests them will not click as no
reciprocity is involved, but would look at interesting
        signature because of reciprocity.

Not sure if true - just thinking aloud.

That's the intention of this thread. What should
they be like to attract clicks?

There is info about how to craft signatures to get clicks.
There is info about how to craft WSO titles to get clicks.
These text based banner ads so how do we craft them?

Some people clearly will not click on ads because they
are ads. Does it matter if they are ads (not rhetorical
        question)?

Should a person just think will this make me more money
than I paid for it? If yes then it made you money and
does not matter if it was presented to you as and ad.
However, for some people it does matter - why?

            I did click one.

There are some people who will not click and I was
trying to think about why they wouldn't.

The quote 'I will not click as no reciprocity involved'
was supposed to be what the person who refused to
click would subconsciously say to themselves.

Obviously, it didn't quite read as that. I have changed
the original post to hopefully make the meaning more clear.

I've clicked 4 or 5 of them just to see what was what. I like it. It's easy to ignore if you don't care and it's interesting as a marketer to see who is investing in the banners and what they're offering. You gotta always be learning, especially if you're in the IM niche.

      John a very apt view,

with 10 boxes per day and where people book as many spots on as many days as possible, nothing stopping you booking two or 3 spots if your money is good.

what a great opportunity this is to dominate the airwaves, for example if you invested 100 into your first ad, / then if you made $ 200 you would based on the system come in and buy another spot for 100 giving you 2 ads running while putting the other 100 in your pocket, at this point your even with 2 ads running that should now produce the next return in half the time.

from there each day wake up divide your take by or what ever % you wanted and drop in and buy the next heap of available spots it may be 4 this time, 8 the next day and so on, keep in mind you have only spent the first 100 and thats now safely back in your pocket along with a 50% of what ever is churned out. / as an example

each day you get stronger where your ads are booked ahead and paid for in advance, in addition as you move forward take one or two hundred and float a new product and repeat from steps one.

you now have more momentum going and you take ownership of that box up top. / add more products.

it was that method per say that took me from bottom of 35K blogs to number one most expensive blog to advertise on in sorts (within weeks) / get and edge and dominate it / this baby system is wide open for the picking right now.

anyway i am sure people have all that worked any way, just as i see it and to answer your question as to who is placing / investing in the ads now / the clever people will be all over this and slamming home base runs.

A person could come in later even if it was controlled by heavy players as above and nudge into the market but it would be a hard climb and a lot more work and patience / at the same time any spare spot would be good if you has your ducks lined up in a row.

    Have you clicked one? Why?
Curiosity of what this neat new WF thing was. Had nothing to do with the ad itself. I didn't even read the page it linked too.

What do you think would make them more clickable?
People who are interested in this stuff will read them and click them, those who aren't will ignore them.

Aside from that, those with a gift for writing attention grabbing headlines will do well.

If I knew the answer to writing money making ads I'd be running one myself but it's a talent I haven't mastered.... unless you're looking for smart ass comments the ruffle a few feathers, I am good with those

I like the banners. They are different enough so that the "regulars" here are interested in them. They certainly stand out more than the standard sig. file. I think they are the perfect size too -- not overly distracting, but eye catching.

If people are saying they will click Text links in signatures, but not banner ads... Why not appease them by making a banner ad that looks like a regular signature link. Type some text into MSPaint, changing the colors of specific words for eye appeal (links are often blue). Then post it as your signature banner ad, and link it to your destination.

People don't want to click pictures, they want to click links. Avoid the problem with the simplest of solutions. Fake it...

I'm not much of an impulse buyer and banner ads scare me...psychologically I have a growing distrust for them after working too many years in IT and seeing people get their computers infected from clicking on stuff.

If I'm looking for something to buy I tend to know pretty much what I'm looking for OR I buy from people that I know and respect. There are people on here that could have "buy my stuff" as the anchor text in their sig and I'd click it....although I did just click on the banner up top just to keep from appearing belligerent and spiteful (all the cool kids are doing it).

How can you have 50% off of rave reviews? Are the reviews on sale? I don't get it.

I just wrote a part of the full banner ad as the full
ad had quite a lot of text. I wrote a summary of the
full ad so that people would know which ad I was
          referring to.

It had 50% OFF on its own. Underneath it had rave
reviews. So it was saying that there was 50% off
AND the offer had rave reviews. The main text of
the ad 'Instantly ...' was at the side of the bits
          just mentioned.

      Hi

The thread is about the new banner ads at the top
of the pages above the IMPORTANT NOTICE section.

A little bit confusing because 2 banner ads were
introduced close in time. Banner ads at the top
and banner ads in the signature.

That's my ad ...thanks for clicking =)

And also thanks for breaking down why you clicked on it.

There are a lot of factors to consider when designing a text banner and I'll be honest I went through 5 or 6 other designs before I settled on the one you mentioned.

In fact, it was originally blue, and I almost deleted it before I tried it in black and decided it was sorta ok. When I submitted it I still wasn't sure, but then when it was approved Allen sent a short message saying he thought it was the best banner design so far.

I'm glad I went with it because it has worked out great so far. Tons of clicks and visitors to my offer and almost double the number of sales I usually make on that product per day.

I think these new banner advertising options are a great idea, but I also know that the offer is every bit as important as the banner...If your offer sucks or isn't interesting then your banner won't matter.

In terms of people clicking on banner ads...I'm one of those that hardly ever clicks on a banner, but based on my results with this banner....a lot of people are still willing to click.

      Your welcome.

I have never seen banner ads that are just text so
assumed that they were a new idea. Well there new
on this forum at least. So was curious about what
      would work.

Obviously, the offer has to attract. However, what
drew me first was your layout.

Need to use white space to get all details across.

      Glad it's working for you.
