hey im trying to set up my wordpress blog .. and i think that i'm doing everything correct yet when i type in my i get an error like this Warning: require_once(ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/bookmark.php) : failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/public_html/admin.php on line 3

can you help me with this cause i dont know what this means .. thanks

  • disable all plugins

    re-activate default theme

    start all over again to narrow down what is causing the problem.
  • It's hard to say without being able to troubleshoot it myself. Can you open that admin.php file in dreamweaver or wordpad and copy line 3 to this forum?

  • When does the error happen? Have you been able to set the blog up and get into the dashboard area or are you stuck on the initial stages of setup?

    • this happens when i try enter in my url in the browser ( or at least thats what i tried... ) i really hope that i dont have to do this all over again
  • Well, the error messages ALWAYS tell you what the problem is.

    You uploaded the WP files in the wrong place, or you didn't keep the folder structure when unzipped or some similar user mistake.
    (this is also for dadamson)

    You do NOT need to look into the file because this part or the error message

    says clearly that the admin.php file IS IN THE WRONG PLACE!
    It should NOT be in the root directory. Period.

    Delete all the files and directories an start over.

    • hey to everyone that posted thanks for all of your help .. all i needed to do was to basically erase and restart it all again ..

      now i need to know where can i find a good theme .. i went to themes.wordpress.net and i only found maybe one or two themes .. is there any where else i can go to find more themes ( free preferably .. shoe string budget and all .. lol )
