$529 in 13 days with $0 - LISTBUILDING ONLY!

I have posted a few times in here about the true raw power of listbuilding. I have done this for a long time and have made some good amounts of money by doing so.

Infact, earlier on in my career I worked out that having a very special list that you treat like gold can bring you as much money as you want. Seriously! I believe this is true but now I can show you real hard core proof, with the little experiment we did below. Please make sure you read if you are struggling to make a dime. I do not put it down to my experience, if you read below. I put it down to hard work.....and getting stuff done.

Anyway, So my mate and I gave a challenge to ourselves....while we were drinking of course (yes, dont get me started!). To see how much money we could bring in a 2 week period starting from scratch. That 2 weeks is nearly up...

The results are pretty good so far. But it shows you how good hard work is...article marketing and building a list.

I will cut to the chase for you, then come back and answer questions if you like. But here are the steps we took.

1) Searched around for a hungry niche, ebay, amazon, and forums using google, yahoo and a special forum searcher tool I use.

2) Got a hosting account, domain, hosting etc. With a keyword in the name.

3) Got my mate to do write an ebook, while I set up a messy squeeze page, and did some very average (maybe even less than average LOL) copy and set links up payment buttons, download pages etc, etc. (you could outsource this if you wanted) This took a few days or hard core work. (What? you mean you have to do some work to make money? ummmmmm YES!!!! YESS!!!!! YESSSSS!)

4) We then spent each day coming up with 10-12 articles and one video to post on youtube. Most days we got to about 8 or so articles done and then burnt out. But we did get some nice videos done, posted them to youtube with the website showing up down the bottomed while it played. That helped with more traffic too.

5) articles : Once our articles were done each day we posted them up on EZ account, and goarticles and in our sig line directed them over to a simple squeeze page for them to opt in. About 37% of people opted in most days when we checked our stats.

6) Once people opted in we directed them to the sale page, which was messy, and they were automatically opted single to our series of autoR messages. We only have a 4 auto responder messages so far spread 1 every day. But we should be adding more onto this soon.

7) Now we are just spending the day writing and adding articles, and posting them up. We want to test this more. Our main aim is just to get more traffic to the squeeze page. The more traffic we get the more optins and the more chance we will have of people buying from the emails they get from being on our list (i.e. the autoresponder messages)

HAVING A LIST CAN BRING YOU MONEY.... WE JUST STUCK TO THESE RULES YOU SEE ABOVE.

LISTBUILDING LIKE THIS IS POWERFUL, AS LONG AS YOU KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Seems like we picked a good niche. Because with your internet marketing it does come down to the very first step. Not picking a good niche,......PICKING A GREAT NICHE OF HUNGRY DESPERATE BUYERS.

Have a look at the clickbank statement below (which is real by the way), we have sales coming in almost everyday....our product is $47 ....so that is why clickbank statement says $42. Like I said we are doing no more than getting traffic from EA and goarticles in the sig line directing them to our sqeeuzepage so they can sign up and get on our list. Then we just get our autoresponder to send them more good info...and one video at the end of the series.

NOTE : The day we brought in $211 was a day when I did a video blast to the list we had. It was just audio and text on screen. And it was just a paraphrased group of three articles that I had already posted on EA. I am really testing this at the moment as it is very powerful giving this stuff away. People love video more than text, as you may as well know.

I love internet marketing. Tis why I gave my boss the finger many moons ago. Tis so much fun. But I love helping the good warriors out on this forum. It makes it much more fun.

Hope this helps you and your business succeed. Now go get em' tiger.

Cheers

Celente.

P.s. I guess you could do this and would cost over a little if you signed up with aweber, and outsourced copy and ebook, but still wanted to help those struggling out there. Take action and the world will be yours.

Thanks for all the detailed information. It's interesting that you had success without even paying for Aweber.

Actually we were using Aweber. But you can use freebie autoresponders out there.

I think there is one called monkey something that will give you free for first 500 subs.

        Aweber is the best but.

I believe you are referring to MailChimp. With MailChimp you can store upto 1000 subs for free, the only catch is that you can send out a max of 6000 emails per month.... so if you were capped at 1000 subs then you would have to space out your messages for (30 divided by 6) every 5 days.

Although, I would say that if you had 1000 subs then there is no doubt in my mind you are making enough money to go and buy aweber... easily.

            Mr AnnoyingOrgange.

Thanks champ that was exactly the one i was referring to.

I know a friend who only has about 750 people on his list, but he gives them stuff every week and makes about $2000 a month in sales without fail. He is a true list building warrior if you ask me.

If you have over 500 people, yes you are over the baby hump and ready to get going with aweber or getresponse. I use them both, and are both pretty good.

Hi Clente, could you pls share how exactly you search out a hungry niche? you kinda breezed tru that. Seems like a plan but 80 percent of its success lies in the ability to locate such niches.
Will appreciate if you went into more detail. Tanx.

Sure, I did breeze through it for a reason. I said I would help below, so what I did was..

      - Go hunting, and spend a few hours really go searching.
      - Do not just go for 1 niche like fat loss, you need to go searching everywhere and pick a niche that is not broad. Instead of fat loss for losers.... pick something like "How to lose weight after pregnancy!" see how that is more tighter in selections. You have not just gone for fat loss, you are tareteing a more specific group of people that are desperate.

-I mean who doesnt want to lose weight after they have had a baby think about it

-Once you find your specified niche, go looking in forums. Hang out and watch what people are saying, what problems they are having, how they talk, what they talk about. I truely believe if you are an idiot of a niche, if you hang out in forums for a few days and read as much as you can and ask questions in there you will soon find yourself fast becoming an expert.

-You will be suprised at how people are willing to help you out. But watch the language in there. You can sense if people are desperate by the thread titles. Maybe like "Help I just had a baby and tried everything, but I cannot lose weight, PLEASE HELP! " stuff like that.

-All you are really doing is making sure there is a market for what you are about to sell.

-Too many people go into a market i.e. glass blowing, without first realizing about 0.003% of the population is into glass blowing. BIG MISTAKE!!!

-With Amazon, sometimes you will see a few books on the same topic show up in the top sellers for a few months. If you do see this, you most likely have a winner. Remember when 'the secret' was big. It kept showing up there for weeks on end. And people in that niche started making a killing. (it is kinda bit more dead now but)

Same with 4 hour work week, and then outsourcing is big topic now. THere is a big hint for you there. Amazon is very powerful weapon to use in this process.

      Hope this helps.

      Celente.

Thanks for sharing this powerful information, Celente. While everybody talks so much about how the internet is constantly changing, the fundamentals of internet marketing have stayed pretty much the same, and you basically need 3 crucial things which almost everyone is aware of:

    1) Targeted traffic.
    2) A squeeze page for capturing emails.
    3) A simple product that appeals to a hungry, desperate subniche.

If you have these 3 elements in your internet marketing, it's just a matter of rinsing and repeating to build a bigger list that you can send many more relevant offers to over time.

This is not rocket science at all, people. It just takes a little dedication and persistence to follow through with all 3 parts of this formula.

Oh my godness. you are 110% correct.

I come in here somedays and smirk when I see post with people asking what the holy grail is.

This was just a test..... I make a full time income online and bring in a lot of money each month....but only because of my funnel. I have posted it here before but it goes like this.

      -squeeze page
      -sales page
      -auto responder sequence
      -continuity program
      -VIP continutity program (video)
      -VIP Coaching
-SEMINARS (this is a big one )

But if i didnt have a list, how would I get them through to the sales page, or monthly membership or even seminars. So that is the true power of all this.

I make alot more than $529 doing the above. But I guess that is for you to decide.

    Great thread, definitely very inspirational.

I've been doing IM for a while now, but just in the past few months have gotten very serious. Hopefully I'll have the same luck you've had in the next few weeks!

Along with that, the tips on how to search for a specific niche were also very helpful.

    Congratulations!

    A few questions..

Where did you begin to find the niche?
Can you disclose the special forum searcher tool you mentioned?
What kind of videos did you post?
The 8 articles, did you post all 8 of them just to ez & go everyday?
How did you find so much content to posts 8 articles everyday?
Were the follow-ups purely pitching or content too?
How many subscribers do you have at the moment?

Sorry for all the questions and again, congratulations!

This is a great post and inspirational for a lot of people. It shows you can still make money with article marketing even though it's becoming more competitive by the day.

Here is a question that I am sure a lot of people would want to know.

How do you structure your autoresponders?

Do you tell stories? Do you just give tips in regards to your niche? How do you build the relationship mixed in with promotion?

      Thanks

I'm guessing that you created a product and set it up on Clickbank, since you mentioned "sales pages" and "buy now" buttons - and then explained your pricing.

Do you push your own stuff like this, or also include other affiliate offers?

Either way, great job! It's amazing what can be accomplished when you've got a little fire under your belly - and I've found that contests, bets or even the occasional drinking agreement can provide mountains more motivation than "I want to make money because blah blah blah."

"Desperate" buyers well served will make you a ton of money, no doubt.

"Obsessed" buyers can be just as profitable, and a lot more fun. Especially if you're one of the obsessed.

The idea is to find a large enough group of people who willingly spend money (repeatedly) on their problem or their passion. Connect with them, serve them well, and you'll get the keys to the kingdom...

    Hey Celente,

    Nice tips!

So do you send people to your salespage straight after they opt in? As in, get this free report - > Download your free report, also, hey check out the full deal!

Or do you just get the email, then send them to the salesletter via the autoresponder messages.

    Thanks!

Yes always Optin -> full sales letter

      Or optin -> your blog

Those are the two models I use. It is alot more complex than that....but that will give you the main jist of it.

I used to be the one that bashed people that kept telling me to build a list.

But when this idiot actually tried it out and I started making good amounts of money I was over the moon.

When I built my first list up of over 5000 people and send my first email campain, I bought in just over $2300....i will never forget that day.

Build your list....if you spend no time on anything else, build your list and get them to trust and respect you. That is the best thing you can do as a newbie. IT works like nothing I know.

Celente, when you set up new campaigns like this how many messages do you typically load up the autoresponder with? Do you prefer to have many messages lined up in the autoresponder, or do you prefer broadcasts where you write and send out things as you see fit?

    Hi,
Would this work as well if you just did articles/videos en masse each day, but direct link an affiliate offer (via a domain name re-directing directly to the offer) to save the days of creating your own website/squeeze page/product? (Even EZA will let you do this with a domain name re-direct).

From what I understand this would work, although you would lose the benefits of list building (unless you directed it to a landing page first). I just thought this could give newbies the confidence that something actually 'works' (ie see money coming in) before product creation?

Would this article/direct linking still work nowadays? Good place to start if so...

No doubt you could do this, but you'd be losing out a lot on the benefits of list building. Conversions are typically going to be much lower as you're going to be shooting for an immediate sale with direct linking, and the problem I see with this approach is that newbies are probably going to be discouraged with the results (i.e. the sales achieved) they get.

Paul you're right, but I would add in some more.

List building, that's what we call in the IM world.

In the Direct Marketing world, the same thing applies, and they treat their databases/list like a DIAMOND mine Think Gary Halbert.

Any brick and mortar businesses who is not doing this - i.e acquiring list/email/mailing address to retain their customers, they are pretty much set up to be failed or leaving money on the table.

However, many IMers or business owners don't treat their list well.

List were made up of all real life human, right? They are not some zombie or robots.

They are human like us! So treat your list well, as you would like to be treated, for all of those who is reading this one

Aiden, of course! Lists are the lifeblood of any business, where online or offline. It's so much easier to generate a sale from an existing customer than to go out and market to a new one.

Obviously, this assumes that you treat your lists well. Constantly bombarding them with product offers and not offering them anything of value in return is going to burn them out very quickly!

Thanks again for ramming this down our throats! Celente, if you don't mind, would you share some of the niches and subniches that you're targeting with your listbuilding efforts?

No way! I do not want you smart little cookies keyword stuffing, and competing against me. LOL.

I will say this though. I might be in the health and wellness niche.

Listen to Robert Kyosaki, he said the next 10 years the baby boomers have worked their guts out and have lots of money to spend.. they are living longer and that means they are more prone to becoming sick and injured than any generation we have seen...and they have the money to pay for CURES.

So I just want a nice piece of that pie.

That is enough of a clue for you. *touches nose*

        Good luck.

P.S. I suck badly at marketing, please do not listen to me please.
        LOL For the armpit thing!

As for the "suck badly at marketing" fact, that's not true. (Or maybe it's true, because... YOU DON'T EVEN MARKET YOURSELF IN YOUR SIG )

Only those who appreciate the value of true marketing, would have a tightly, closely guarded, and nicely planned out sales funnel behind the scene...

You might be suck at the armpit thing but not in the marketing thing for sure

Only have one IM site buddy, that does pretty well. I find other niches easier, and more fun to learn about as I said.

Ok I am off, enjoy your day, and good luck out there warriors. Stop reading and go do some work. That is what I will doing. My eggtimer went off. Only spending 30 mins in here a day now.

          Cheers

          Celente.

Agreed list building is powerful if done correctly, but ofcourse the product in the first place, be it an ebook must be equally compelling
