Where can I get royalty free music.......?

...that doesn't cost a fortune? I just had a look on a couple of sites and even for a one minute acoustic clip it was $59.95 plus $9.95 for the license! Is that the going rate or can I get it cheaper? Thanks.

Every now and then Digital Juice will put their "BackTraxx" collections on sale. When they do those are the bargin of the century. Lots of clips in a wide variety of genres.

If you're doing a lot of videos this is a no brainer. Finding the right music for a given video can be one of the most time consuming aspects of creating videos.

And if your time is worth money...

Hi Bill, Is there a way to quickly find out when digital juice has these deals you talked about? How do you check for them?

I really like Royalty-Free Music for use as Production Music, Hold Music and More . They start as low as 9.95$ for a track, and have got great variety of music you can choose from!

  • While it is paid, this offers some good paid & free solutions. (& for the paid items, you get more than just 1 clip, anywhere from 5-15 usually for about $99.95).

Around $7 per tune. I use these on all of my videos for high energy background music.

You can loop them if necessary.

"Saw this post and just had to chime in as I have been on the quest for the
perfect royalty free track so I have been doing some searching myself.
Not all royalty free music has to cost an arm and a leg - especially when you
need more than 1 piece say for a long sequence or a short film etc.

Free ones would be (although the selection may not be quite there if you are
      picky):
JewelBeat.com - A new find for me. Superb music.
Incompetech.com - I think everyone already knows this one right?
Jamando.com - not all are royalty free especially if the composers
are ASCAP, BMI or SESAC signed.

      Paid options:
      RoyaltyFreeMusic.com - Pretty pricey.
Opuzz.com - Short tracks $2.99 onwards. Whole CD with 10 tracks and
edits for $49. Great deal! 2 CDs $69.
CSSMusic.com - CDs about $59 onwards and depends on titles.
Individual tracks from about $9 I think for a 30 second.
      Quite a few others.
      Good luck Alice!

I suppose it depends on if you want decent music or premium music. You get what you pay for IMO. Most of the cheaper stuff sounds cheap, and if you have a great product I believe you should represent it with great music.

Michelle mentioned it already (thanks Michelle), but I co-own Premium Royalty Free Music | Soundtrackster and would be happy to create some sort of WF discount if the interest is there. It's electronic music, but it's homemade by my pal Oleg Mokhov.

StockMusic.net is high quality and worth every penny... and you can save some if you buy in credit bundles. With the credits, you can go back later and add more tracks as projects come up.

If you're needing to make a video/ad with music, check out animoto (animoto.com). The have a free service (but only 30 second clips). A paid service gives you unlimited access. Selections of music aren't bad either. Pretty wide.

Mininova.org - this used to be a torrent site that featured pirated content. However, since it was ordered by the courts to cease its piracy operations, the site changed to a legitimate torrent sharing sites for content that is free. Hence, the music you can find here are shared to the public for free by the artist.

You will need to download and install a torrent downloader in order to download stuff here. I use Utorrent - just google it for the download link.

depends on what your going to do with the music, if your using it to make money like commercial use then you'll have to pay, if its something personal or non for profit then you can go with creative commons. hit up muscosound.com I'm sure you can work something out with him

Wow; lots of suggestions to try. I'll throw mine into the ring; just joined video blocks dot com.

So far I am loving it, but haven't dug into music yet. They have a 7 day trial membership during which you can download 20 clips of video and/or music for free, then they charge your credit card if you don't cancel. They have a huge supply of clips (7.3 million), but I'm not sure how much is music, how much is video, and how much is effects.

I downloaded 40 clips so far, and haven't even got to the second page of the 5 pages of aerial clips; tons of other categories; I assume the music catalog is huge as well.
