Best features for a PLR web site?

Hello,

My name is Olive West (pseudonym) and I'm just starting to build a PLR selling website. There are still a few things I'd like to put on my site before I tell anyone about it, or announce it or anything but I wanted to post for the first time and say hi!

If you have a moment, does anyone have any constructive "boy, I wish I'd known this when I started a PLR website" tips?

Thanks!
Olive

Hi Olive, welcome to the forum!

That's kind of a tough question. I spent a LOT of time before I launched my PLR site to do a lot of research to give me the best chance of success. I would definitely advise you do the same (you probably already are - hence this thread )

Other bits of advice I have are to be unique (don't release content that's already been done a million times) and to interact with customers. I think building a relationship with customers helps a lot.

And - from day ONE - start building your list!

    Good luck

    Hi Olive, welcome.

I've never built a PLR site myself, so I can't give you any specific "building tips", however, its success will hinge heavily on site traffic. That being the case, I would advise you to put some serious thought into devising a feasible traffic strategy.

    Good luck,

    Hav

    Good question!

I wish, in the beginning, I'd thought longer and harder about how to promote my PLR site, and then taken more action. I felt stiffled because I couldn't do article marketing through EzineArticles (since they hate PLR) and I didn't really pursue other avenues until later.

    P.S. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new business venture! Wishing you the best.

I would say my weakness has been staying focused. Just keep on track and don't get distracted by every new thing. It's easy to get discouraged in the beginning and think that it's not going to work out. Your persistence will pay off if you're offering quality content.

Welcome to the Warrior Forum, Olive, and good luck with your PLR business. The best advise I could offer if you want to make money with this is to sell only what people already want to buy. ;-)

Not sure how far along you are, but I highly recommend purchasing Tiffany Dow's PLR ATM product. That's what I used as a guide when building my PLR site.

    Firstly...

    Welcome!

    Here's my take on this...

The first thing I'd do is think about market positioning. What can you do to separate yourself from all the other PLR sites out there in cyberspace?

Imagine how you would like your PLR site to look? What content (visual and textual) do you imagine on your PLR site? What do you like most from other PLR sites? What features do the most popular PLR sites have in common?

Start writing down ideas (write don't type) on a bit of paper. Now your unique angle could be your graphics, your domain name and branding, the amount of PLR content you make available each month, a multi-tier pricing structure. Whatever... This is just some stuff falling off the top of my head!

But it needs to 'fall off' yours.

Just write down some ideas, don't think about it too much, just write.

After half an hour you'll likely have a full list of ideas on the angle you'd like your PLR site to take.

    Put the list down.

Go and do something else completely different and forget about it.

Pick it up tomorrow and select your favourites then be prepared for a flood of additional ideas to invade your headspace. Some of these ideas you can probably go with, some of them you'll dismiss. Gradually, from the 'mist' of ideas, your unique angle will start to emerge!

Now you have the first stage of your plan.

Yeah, you need traffic (your site would die without it) but the way you position your site and the angle you take will directly influence the amount of people who decide to sign-up.

Bit of a braindump this... but I hope it helps you in some way!

    Garry.

Welcome to the forum. I am also quite new and decided against PLR to start. But when I was looking around I saw one website that you might find interesting.
It's (plrwholesaler dot com) by Gabor Olah. You can take a look the way the site is set up.
Apply what you think is the best, add your unique spin and make it better. Good luck.

thank you everyone. I am DEFINITELY going to use some of your ideas -- especially since I am committed to making this a long-term respected business. And yes, I am working off of Tiffany Dow's PLR ATM pack.

I'm having a small issue right now with my signup form, though. I can't afford Aweber right now so I'm trying to use mailchimp. I created a unique form design but when I tried imputing that code into my page, it was too big and took up too much space on the homepage. So I had to settle for a small, generic signup form on the side panel.

Do you know how I can tweak the code to make it the right size? Also, do you know anybody who does cheap header designs?

    Thanks!

What you could do for your sign ups and content requests is to use a contact form to handle it. Depending on which email service you end up with, you could transfer these email addresses to the service. Don't get too hung up over that part, while it will help the content you sell is more important.

I would personally focus on getting more packs for sale over a beautiful design. Once you get your site making a solid income you can easily reinvest some profits into making it pretty.
