Allen & Warriors... Idea For A New Section That Would Rock My Socks Off!

How about a section called: The Warrior Forum Marketplace

We have one...it's the WSO section.

Are looking for a new section to compete with it?

And how would Allen benefit by splitting the views between the two sections?

If you can answer that one...

The WSO section is for products AND services, etc. (at a DISCOUNT for warriors only)

There are 2 other sections that ALSO already compete with it:

1. The Warrior For Hire (People offer services, as in the WSO section)

2. The Classified Section (People sell products AND services there too)

The NEW section would be for products ONLY and they wouldn't have to be discounted.

How would that compete with the WSO forum, when people know that at the WSO forum they get a discount? It's a whole different concept. In my opinion, the WSO forum will always be king.

But a section where people can sell their own products at full price could be very appealing to buyers and sellers... Do you disagree?

P.S. - To answer your last question: Allen would benefit by making money from both the WSO forum AND the "new" forum.

Well, let's see...

I have a product that I want to sell.

I look to see which section gets the most eyeballs.

Buyers are looking for the best price so there's a good chance the WSO section will get the most eyeballs.

I want to get the best (highest) price for my product.

Do I post in both sections?

Will that cause confusion/buyer dissatifaction?

What's my move here...?

Excellent point. In that case, it would be a tough decision and only TESTING would allow you to find out what the best move would be. And that's what marketing is all about, testing and testing and more testing.

However, what about the Warrior who wants to launch a new eBook that they created on a HOT internet marketing related topic... But they don't yet have traffic going to their site/sales page?

They would be able to TEST how well their product would sell (at full price) as well as how it would be received by the market (people would give their reviews, etc.)

I see it as an opportunity to sell without offering a discount -- While simultaneously benefiting from the traffic of this forum. Of course you'd have to pay... but that's the point.

He wouldn't be "splitting" the views... Remember how Sponsors launched and the views on the Special Offers section never faltered...

It would just get a "small" piece of Warrior Forum traffic...

For a market place to be effective it needs to attract buyers.

What you described would be the WSO section, but without the discount. It certainly wouldn't attract my interest, and I can't see anyone else going for it either.

I appreciate the thought behind the idea Shane, but I'm not thinking there's much benefit to another section...

If things are full price in this new forum, we're MISSING THE POINT.

The WSO Section is for Warrior SPECIAL Offers - that means that we offer our wares to our community and share the good vibes by giving them a better deal than full price.

From Allen's sticky on the WSO Rules:

"2. A Warrior Special Offer Means The Price You Give Must Be Better Than The Price The Public At Large Can Get. (This is not a "buy my product" forum, it is a "Special Offer" forum)"

So, it seems (again, while a decent thought process) you are suggesting a "buy my product" forum.

Thanks for your input Gary. However, I am not suggesting to change the WSO forum at all, so I don't see how I am missing the point. I understand the point of the WSO forum and I make a great amount of money from it... I love the spirit of "giving" and offering Warriors special deals...

This was just a suggestion because Allen has been experimenting with new ideas and ways to monetize the site...

Q: How does a "buy my product" forum benefit the community?

A: 1. The people of this community that decide to sell their product there will benefit from the profit they make.

2. The "buyers" will have an easy place to find IM related products that might not have been offered as WSO's.

3. Allen would benefit from the extra income.

I didn't think you were suggesting a WSO forum change, my question is what's the benefit to having another separate place to sell the same thing (other than your suggestion of products only vs services)?

Even if (as others have suggested) the WSO section REALLY isn't special pricing, how would this new forum differentiate itself?

Why wouldn't someone just offer their product in the WSO section instead?

I'm not opposed to your idea, and have tried to be complimentary because I like new thoughts, I'm just not seeing the purpose behind a new forum when there's one that fits the need currently.

Thank you for your detailed response Gary and I appreciate the complimentary words.

It seems like many people don't like the idea so maybe I was just enjoying my shower a little too much when I thought of this...

However, the main benefits in my mind are:

1. People would be able to offer products only vs. products & services.

2. People could TEST their product at FULL price so that they can see if they should lower the price or raise it based on the reaction and feedback they get from fellow warriors.

If people really aren't offering their products/services at discounted prices, then they are breaking the rules and you are right... It wouldn't be different than the WSO forum other than the products only factor. But are we really assuming that everyone posting a WSO is breaking the rules?

Just to be open, I'm not concerned about being right, just an interesting discussion.

I'm a positive thinker, so I'm going to go with:

1) They ARE giving a special price
2) They are making it a special offer because it's only available to Warriors (arguably to anyone that finds it via the forum)

I completely understand the testing the waters at full price part as you mention. If #2 meets the rules, you could test there or make your offer better by adding a bonus, first access, etc.

Couldn't you also post in the classifieds section at full price? I realize then you are competing against affiliate offers, etc.

Yes, you could certainly post it at full price in the Classified Section, but again, that section is specifically designed to be a hodgepodge of different types of offers, products, services, etc.

I'm surprised that there isn't already a section to "sell your products" at full price, without competing with services, affiliate offers, etc... This is the #1 internet marketing forum! But, even without my tiny idea it's still the best community I've ever been a part of online and I only want the best for it and its members.

I'd argue that the majority of products on sale as WSOs aren't discounted at all. Many are only on offer as WSOs - which I think also answers your questions. Just list your product(s) in that section.

Also - I don't think they are for Warriors only. As far as I'm aware, anyone can purchase from there, even if they aren't a forum member.

It does not sound like an idea that has much of a 'community' edge to it, just taking the 'special' out of some of the Warrior Special Offers and moving them to an area where they are a bit less... special. It kind of smacks of paying Allen just to spoonfeed traffic to us. I know that WSOs can be looked on by some people in that way, but if we all start bringing a flood of offers to the forum that aren't all that special then the place will wind up just like anywhere else and it won't be the traffic magnet that it can be today and Allen won't be sending much traffic anyone's way. I don't like it - sorry.

The problem with that statement is that it is not accurate at all. Any one visiting the forum can buy a WSO, you don't need to be a registered member.

I have to agree with most of what every one is saying, it would just compete with the WSO section.
