Its always about google google google, and i thought about it, I never use google! I have the yahoo search bar in my firefox browser and I use that.

What are the hard #'s on usage for search engines, obviously google is tops, but many use yahoo, its probably the #1 home page when people open their browser.

I like yahoo, i like their display ads, their adwords program, etc. AND its cheaper.

thoughts? feedback?

getting ready for launch of our product, google disproves my site, we are re-doing it. maybe they will like it, but i need other options...

  • Yahoo is a good home page. It's been my homepage since 1996, but Google is a better search engine because they give more accurate results.
  • Don't know what the hard numbers are, but, for me, Yahoo and Bing deliver more paying traffic than Google does.
  • I have always used google but i like also yahoo especially for its great "feature"..yahoo answers
HotDamnShortSales, you can use YahooAnswers to find potential markets!

  • I've been with Yahoo since year 2000! And Yahoo mail box has unlimited space. Juz love them but somehow, got to move with trends with Google at times. Using both now..

Can't say which is better but I rank higher on Yahoo than Google most of the times
  • yea i think google just gets all the love because well, they are google, a great story, they were more 'mainstream" and it stuck. "google me" or "google it" has a better ring to it than "yahoo search it" i guess. you can tell that the things are changing though, because google is being very selective as to the types of ads they allow now, they disproved my hdss page, but wont give me exact specifics, very annoying!!! im over google!

Technically, Google is the stepchild of Yahoo, since Yahoo was popular first. But Google is #1...for now. In 5 years from now, facebook may become the #1 site/search engine.
  • Trends have been changing very rapidly over internet. But if you keep coming with updates on your site then you can maintain your position as Google did.

  • interesting. thanks

  • On my main website, broken down by the number of people I receive from the search engines, with over 8,000 people per month coming from the search engines, the numbers break like this:

    80% Google
    9% Yahoo
    9% Bing
2% Another 48 smaller search engines

Market share numbers by third-party websites reflect this breakdown.
