6 Simple Steps, $30+ Per Day And Gaining With Only 5 Sites, It Really Is That Easy!

First off, I know $30 isn't a lot, but that's what I'm making on only 5 (now 7) small affiliate websites that really only cost me the price of the domain name.

I'll have you know that this didn't happen overnight. I have spent a lot of time working on getting these sites rolling. So now the plan is to keep building more sites using the process outlined below.

Below are the exact steps that I took to make this happen. Hopefully this will provide some inspiration and motivation to those who are looking for it.

FYI... These are physical product sites, and they are all ranking somewhere in the #3 to #10 range on Google page 1.

1. I browsed popular department store websites for typical every day items that people use.

2. Performed keyword research with Google Keyword Tool and other SEO tools to find promising [exact] keyword possibilities.

3. Purchased domain name with keywords in the domain name.

4. Built the website on my own using basic HTML (nothing fancy). Created 1000 words ish of unique keyword optimized content for home page and any subsequent pages (most sites are around 5 pages).

5. Submitted to major search engines, Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

6. Wrote articles for each site and submitted them to roughly 8 popular article directories. The number of articles submitted for each has varied based on competition.

That's really all that I have done, not too complicated. I would say it took roughly 3 hours to build each website and get them submitted to search engines. After that, building backlinks with article marketing. The trick is to stick with it even when you think it's not going to happen.

Good for you!! I'm following basically the same model; however I finally realized to make this happen I can't do it all on my own. I've outsourced some article re-writes and then for my next 5 sites I outsourced building the site and the articles re-writes. I do my own keyword research and domain buying (because that's what I like to do!) and I also will be posting the articles on my site and to the article directories. I'm considering hiring a full-time VA to do my backlinking, but I probably won't do that until I get at least 10-12 sites up and going.

    Here's to our success!

I'm also considering outsourcing some of this work once I get more sites established and bringing in steady income. For the time being though I'll crack down and continue to do the work myself in order to save a little coin.

The first site I had went without affiliate links for about the first month. I added them after that, and then every site since then has had both. I do see results with both of them which is why I use both. Hope that helps.

I've found some great article writers on oDesk recently...but up until then my experience with article outsourcing had been the same as yours...dismal .

Just keep on trying new writers - give them a test run of a couple of articles - and I guarantee you will eventually find yourself some great writers. I initially hired 5 or 6 article writers for a couple of articles each, and have kept the better 3 or 4 on...and let the dismal writers go.

I wouldn't fuss too much about what country they're from. A couple of mine are from the Philipines, but I also have one from Bangladesh who does a great job (and at a fraction of the price of the Filipinos).

It's not so much an issue of price as it is of quality. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of crappy low-priced articles being sold on DP that I wouldn't even pay $1 for.

Finding good article writers really is not a big issue. I have had good luck finding good writers at vworker. Although I always make sure they have a very very clear understanding to what is expected of the content they will be creating.

It also helps if they have some thing to show you before hand. This is to help you determain if their writing style will work with your own. It also helps to see if they know how to properly pre sell the items you are asking them to write the content for.

This is a very clear approach he has offered. However mine is slightly different but not by much. I do this with info products found at clickbank Since the commissions are ten times greater then what you would get from any physical product affiliate site like amazon.

Selling the items can be a little bit tougher at first but this same process always works. I also take it a little further. Since I do not like any of my post to be on page 2 or after I tend to build more backlinks to pages that are not on the front page. By doing this I have pretty much dominated google front page results. I also have a very powerful link building method that I use for the very strong keywords for my sites. This almost always drives me to the front page.

Anyone who follows these steps will do pretty well to start. Good strategy I wish you the best of luck.

I write all articles myself. Not outsourcing anything at the moment. I did outsource some social bookmarking at one point, but I guess I didn't see any benefit from it so I stuck with just article marketing.

Well, you know what they say, "You get out of it what you put into it".. Which means that if you aren't willing to dedicate yourself & do the work right the first time (which may take hours, days, weeks) then you probably won't see the same great results that others are getting that "DO" put in that time.

It is amazing how much we can overcomplicate things when it comes to making money online but when you stop overthinking and just focus on taking action consistantly that is when the money starts coming in. Keep up the good work and keep thinking about how much you'll make when you have 150+ websites up and running.

It's nice to see others doing well with small mini site development projects in combination with seo/sem campaigns. I've been doing the same as you myself for a little while now and also have plans of expansion. I currently only have 17 domains developed into monetized websites right now, but eventually I'd like to have a 100 site network. My main focus each time I add a site is to make sure it's paying it's own renewal fee's every year before I add another one (Baby steps). So far so good

Yeah, I simply try to set milestones. Next I'll try to hit 10 sites. I'm thinking I have a pretty good process down now where I can hammer these things out fairly quickly.

FYI... I make it a point to have multiple income possibilities on the sites, meaning affiliate, adsense, and even in some cases my own products. I've heard to many stories about folks completely losing their income because they were only doing adsense. Yikes!

oh you just answered my question lol! ok so it's a combination of affiliate, adsense and your own product in one site. got it. out of curiosity though, where would you say most of your income's coming from?

I totally agree with you on that one. A few of the combination's I use are:

        - Adsense + InfoLinks
        - Adsense + Infolinks + Digital products
        - Adsense + InfoLinks + Digital Products + Services
        - AdBright + InfoLinks + Paid ads
        - Adsense + Adbright + PPS

Etc., Etc, there's lots of ways to mix them all up & it's comforting to know that if for any reason one ppc / pps programs drops, I can replace it with another one fairly easily.

What works for one though, doesn't always work for others, so it's a constant research & analytic's analyzing process for me

I use .com's only. I never bother messing with .info's, .net's, .org's, or any others. Just stuck with .com's because that seemed to be the way to go at the time. Real no reason for it I guess. It's worked anyway.

Nice work! That's pretty much what I do and I am doing 4-7K per month with 10 sites. Build more sites because you will see that you will get like 2 or 3 sites that easily make $30 a day each which is $90 a day plus the 30 you're already making. That's a decent income on auto pilot.

Do you target products over $100? Because that's also key to making more money with the same effort.

      Keep it up!

Definitely a very important factor. I have some sites that target less expensive products, but I find that products in the $150 to $250 produce the best results.

I've had a few that looked good on paper, but just didn't perform when it came down to it. Can't really explain it, bad market timing, tougher competition than I initially observed, who knows. It's fine in my book as long as I can create 10 more that make up for the ones that flopped.

Some are review sites and some provide general information about the keyword and do not discuss any particular products.

I have 250 blogger blogs plus about 45 wordpress blogs. I use the income off my blogger blogs to build my wordpress blogs. Sure I could lose my blogger blogs but in 3 years I have yet to lose any. I can build 1 blogger blog with adsense in about 5 minutes. Yes it takes a while to begin to earn, but it works for me.

    @jan and @leclaims,

Can i ask - what the miss rate is.

e.g you have 5 or 10 sites bringing in income, how many other sites did you build using the method that didn't make anything or do you find the research pretty much allows you to know you'll make something.

Now it's all about the research, If a product has a few hundred positive reviews on Amazon thn you know it is selling well so all you need to do is drive targeted traffic to that Amazon/otheraffnetwork page with your aff link and you'll make sales.

The trick is to stick with it even when you think it's not going to happen.

    hi Lechlaims:

Good tips! I have applied similar strategy with small success. Here's a proven trick to boost the conversion: if you mention a minor flaw of the product in your review articles, you appear to be genuine to readers. This would help to increase sales!

If you don't mind I ask, how do you measure the competition before you decide to launch a new site?

    Thanks!

I use a keyword difficulty checker. 50% or less, then I go for it. Higher than 50% difficulty, I forget about it. It's worked so far in most cases, but it's not really a huge factor in my decision to go for a keyword. I look more for keyword search counts, backlinks counts for the top competing sites, total indexed pages for the keyword, etc.

Basically you rank for low/weak competition keywords, but how much is your exact keyword search approximately(hwo much is you lowest search volume that you accept?) - is it low as well or you do your keyword research so extensively that you spot low competition high search keywords? When your backlinks are only article directory links then it is hard to rank for a highly-competitive keyword.

I have one low competition, high traffic keyword that I'm working on, but otherwise it's low competition keywords with decent traffic. I think the lowest search volume of my successful sites is around 2500 exact searches, give or take. They all vary though so it's hard to say which level of traffic is the most effective.

        Sounds like you're doing great!

I know $30 a day doesn't sound like a lot to many people, but you're doing that with only 5 sites.

Imagine what your income will be like when you have 100 sites - that will be
        $600 a day, or $219,000 a year!!

There is so much power in this kind of model - a lot of sites making a little money each day.

I have yet to see my first dollar from my online efforts, but hearing your story is inspirational to me.

I wish you all the best in your endeavors!

It really is a numbers game. I have one 5 page site that makes $200/month and I do NOTHING now (my very specific keyword is #1 on Google natural search). Then, I have a Blog, and about 5 other sites that I put a lot of work into and sometimes make nothing. Content counts, but keywords and backlinks count more!

And don't ask, of course I won't tell you what niche the "winner" is in. You'll have to do your own research and testing.

I usually shoot for 2000 or more exact searches, low backlink counts for the current top ranking sites (50 or less), total indexed pages varies, maybe 500,000 ish.

dejurs, It depends on your market. The more market you were in, the more backlinks you need. But after following other tutorials, if you submit your link to PR5+ is just almost the same as submitting 500 backlinks to no PR sites.

I use a similar model. Although I don't care if my tld is .net, .org, .info. I just go for the closest match and find a tld to fit. Wal-mart is also a good place to sell from. They offer similar commission as amazon and participate through linkshare. So if you run out of amazon products you can check out wal-mart to see if they have similar products.

Some traffic from article directories, not a whole lot though. Mainly using articles for backlinks. Most of the traffic comes from organic search results.

Consider it a "base salary" so to speak, not my main source of income. It definitely helps to have something coming in on a regular basis, especially if the other income streams are not producing.

Imagine this - someone comes up to you in the street and says "that cash machine over there is giving me $30 dollars every day for free", all i have to do is push button 1 then button 2 then button 3, i don't even have to put my card in. They then wander off shaking their head in amazement. Are you going to yell after them "Sounds Great, but I want you to show me proof? or are you going to go over to that cash machine and press buttons 1 2 and 3.

Created 1000 words ish of unique keyword optimized content for home page and any subsequent pages (most sites are around 5 pages).
This is a difference here that really needs to be highlighted. I'm finding that the higher quality the content on my sites, the easier it is to rank. Autoblogging junk (I used to do it without success) just doesn't have the same effect as 500-1000 word unique content!

    Your results are great!

    hello people,

I am doing the same thing now, but have relaized some niches are pretty competitive, so oyu need a lot links to built, So I do about 100 links a week for one of my sites, for know cause its fresh it has really low traffic and no sales, but I had some people subscribing to newsletter.

So it really takes time. I think its really important to have also good content inside blog if you have a blog for this seted up.

I also test other technique, with really good squeeze page to generate a list and than sending people to the right offer - aff from CB for example.

And sending them useful tips with newsletter then. So in this technique, no blog website, only squeeze page. would see in weeks to come how the traffic will boost, cause we are building links for this.

by the way one question for you: Where to find really good ebook product or electronic product for decorating interior niche?

I checked amazon for some ideas, cause in CB there is not really good one..

leclaims I just had a couple questions for you if you don't mind answering:

    5. Submitted to major search engines, Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
Could you elaborate a little more on submitting a site to Google, Bing, or Yahoo?

    6. Wrote articles for each site and submitted them to roughly 8 popular article directories. The number of articles submitted for each has varied based on competition.
Do you take articles that you have posted to your site, and then submit them to article directories? Or do you write completely new articles and then submit them?

Do you backlink through a resource box? Have you found an effective way to word your resource box to get more click-throughs?

    Thanks

Nothing really special about this. Once I have a site completely finished and moved to my web host, I then submit the main domain URL to google, then yahoo, the bing.

For these sites I wrote completely different articles and submitted them to article directories.

Originally Posted by Gyromite View Post

Yes. I usually use the resource box as a continuation of the article or a teaser for the reader. I'll often say something like "Looking to purchase (link to site with keyword in anchor text) , then visit... ", or "Want to learn more about (link to site with keyword in anchor text), go to ...". I don't know if this the most effective method as far as conversions goes, but I do see quite a bit of traffic from these articles. The backlinks are what really matters to me anyway.

You haven't any problems with getting your sites ranked by submitting the same article to multiple directories? Hi leclaims

    That's pretty impressive.

All up 15 hours work for a continuing $900+ per month. Even if it only lasts for 12 months you have $10800+ in returns.

Work that through at 15 hours and you've got a nice "little" $720 per hour. How many people would want that sort of hourly rate????

    Regards

Well done. $30 is just under $1,000 per month. I know someone who did the same and had 10 sites earning $10 per day, so $100 per day in total. Now the same 10 sites earn $20 per day, so totalling $200 per day. Thats $73,000 per year, just from 10 sites mixing affiliate and adsense. Can't complain at that.

    Well, "easy" is all relative.

What you're doing isn't push button easy like some newbies think, but a real strategy that takes planning and implementing. I think it's all in how you put all the pieces of the online marketing puzzle together.

Building websites that have information about products that lots of people are interested in is very doable for most people. Getting those sites to rank well is something that needs to be mastered - and that means understanding how seo and keywords work.

So, it's easy enough once you know what you're doing.

      Exactly.

It's also very easy to get sidetracked when you have so much valuable information at your disposal. There are so many different avenues that you can be led down when you hang around the forum here. Not that it's a bad thing. I'm just saying that sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad, that is why I really tried to keep it simple with these sites.

very ecnouraging story. this has encouraged me a lot. i just opened my personal site today and i will put some affiliate marketin/adsense there to just to make some small cash to pay for hosting and domains. i have considered doing what you are doing too. having 5 sites who pay you 30$ a day, to me that is A FORTUNE and a goal that i will target myself too.
thanks a lot for sharing with us.

p.s. just in case anyone wants to see my site and wants to let me know what he/she thinks, you are more than welcome:

Yes, I've added a number of subpages to some of these sites to cover some of the more popular related keywords. Seems to work well.

    Awesome work!

    This is MAJOR success!

It does not matter that it is only $30 at the moment I did a similar model to this and can tell you that if you keep on going you will get some items that do not sell at all and some that sell like wildfire...

Also try putting some high end items on there if you have not done so already.

    Awesome work mate.

I do a tiny bit of social bookmarking, but only to an extent (very minimal). I focus mainly on article marketing.

I would like to perhaps venture out to other backlinking methods to see if I can get my sites ranked faster.

I depends on the keyword, in the case of the 5 sites in question, anywhere from 5 articles per site to 30 per site or more.

      EzineArticles
      ArticlesBase
      Amazines
      GoArticles
      ArticleRich
      TheFreeLibrary
      SooperArticles
      ArticleBlast

There are so many of them out there, you could submit to any combination and not necessarily these.

You did nothing but article marketing for backlinks? Nothing else, no blog commenting, forum profiles, etc?

If it's not too personal, are you going to spoil yourself a little bit this holiday with the money that your 5 sites are generating or the more boring stuff like savings, car and house payments?

Article marketing and a little bit of social bookmarking in the beginning. Didn't mess around with forums or blogs.

I'd classify article marketing as an evergreen method that can generate you passive traffic and passive income over a long time IF you do the proper keyword research and write compelling articles. It's funny how some gurus and other "experts" like to proclaim that article marketing (especially bum writing) is dead, and yet you see people proving them wrong every day.

Oh yeah, article marketing is a great way to do IM, the only problem lies in building too much content for others.

I mean, knowing what I know now about SEO, there is no way I would have written that many articles for Ezinearticles that I did in the past.

It really is better to put your content on your site, but it won't give as fast results.

This is very true, and one has to strike a balance between the two. Ezinearticles can be a great source of passive traffic for a long time to come, but you don't control it whereas your site is completely under your control.

I think the trick is figuring out how to effectively split your articles between these two areas. Each has its own purpose and both can be effective, I guess it is up to the individual, based on his or her own particular scenario, to decide which area to give more emphasis to.

3 hours to build each site, 6 or 7 months to a year to get them where they are at now. As you can see, it takes time, and for the first few months these sites made next to nothing.

I have some other sites that are making next to nothing and they've been running for a year or so. I suppose it's probably because I started them and then realize they didn't have the best traffic potential, so I gave up on them. Like I said before, sometimes you win some, some you lose some.

I'm indifferent on this yet. I have mixed feelings on whether or not to build more or expand on these. Perhaps a little of both because I have ideas for new ones, and some of the existing sites have room for growth (more keywords can be added).

You hit on a couple of important keys

Yes you're right it takes time to build good sites that bring money, but I'm sure it can be done faster than Leclaims did, he said he only submitted 30 articles for his products, there is some people in this forum that have made 6 figures earning in 1 year ! So, of course his strategy is goo, now the thng is to accelerate it to make it more profitable, I'm sure Leclaims agree with that.

Now instead of building other sites like others advice (not bad advice though) try to increase the earnings of the current websites, you make an average of 6$/day with one website, im sure you are able to reach 10 or 15$ a day sooner or later! I think its better than building other sites !

So you are using 100% organic traffic to sell physical items $150 to $200 in price? You must be an ace at choosing the products, because $900/month from 5 sites that survive on Amazon commissions is spectacular.

You should write guide to how you choose the niche/products. I am sure that is most people's biggest problem in IM (besides traffic which you also seem to have down).

How long did it take for you to reach the $30/day mark?

Excellent one. So you are at #1 for 1 of your 5 websites on the main keyword, and #3-#10 for the remaining? Awesome job!

You have a solid foundation now - rinse and repeat. And most importantly, create a brand - this is something I tell everyone following this method. A brand is the biggest thing you are missing out and this is something you shall realize much better a couple of years later.

i have a blog on a keyword with 150,000 searches a month and only 35,000 competition and none of those are based on that keyword yet after getting an article to backlink my blog and having built over 80 backlinks from blog comments and many more from forum comments the blog is still not ranking anywhere in google.

If your blog does not have proper on page optimization then you will have a very hard time ranking for your keyword. On page optimization tells the search engines what your site is about which is the first step in the SEO process. Backlinks come second so go check your on page optimization for these things.

      1. Is your keyword in the title, description and H1 tags of your site or page you are trying to rank for?

      2. On the page you are trying to rank for do you have your keyword in there 2-4% of the time? This is called keyword density and basically it means that for every 100 words of content you have on your site you should have your keyword in there at least 2 to 4 times. Have your keyword in the opening paragraph of your content, in the closing paragraph and then a few times in between.

      3. If you have an image on your page, does the alt text for that image contain your keyword? If not, add it.

There's a few more things you can do to optimize better but the above 3 things are crucial.

Now the search engine spiders will come to your site and read the tags plus see the image alt text and find your keyword a few times in the body of the content. This way the search engines will know exactly what your site is about and you will need less back links than your competitor to outrank them.

      Cheers

This way the search engines will know exactly what your site is about and you will need less back links than your competitor to outrank them.

        Cheers

How long ago did you build the site or blog? Another factor could be the strength of your competition. New sites will take time to rank especially if the competition is decent.

its been about a month, there are 150,000+ searches for the keyword and only about 35,000 competition but none of those site actully rank for the keyword, there are 3/4 reputable sites at the top and the bottom half of page 1 changes almost every week.

i have a blog on a keyword with 150,000 searches a month and only 35,000 competition and none of those are based on that keyword yet after getting an article to backlink my blog and having built over 80 backlinks from blog comments and many more from forum comments the blog is still not ranking anywhere in google.

what exactly are you backlinking secrets. how can it be done so easily like you say.
If your on-page SEO is fine, as you say, then it could be the backlinks. Have you checked to see how many backlinks your competitors' sites have?

Not only that but also check the quality of your competitors back links. Look for things like PR of back links and if they are anchor text with the main keyword other than that. 1 month and 80 back links is generally not enough to get good rankings for a decent keyword. Yes it's possible to get ranking sooner but give yourself a few months to rank for your keywords. Also, mix up your back links a bit. Do a press release or two, make articles from your videos and submit with a link back to your site, see if there is a forum in your niche that allows you to have a blog on there and make a post with back link to your site.

        This will get you ranking.

here are the first ten listings on google for the keyword in quotes.

          1. PR7 - L:130,000 LD:300,000

          2. PR6 - L:735 - LD:300,000

          3. PR6 - Wikipedia page not on my keyword but simular - L:1,700 - 125,000,000

          4. PR0 - L:164 - LD:17,000,000

          5. PR0 - L:105 - LD:17,000,000

          6. PR3 - L:9 - LD:750,000

          7. PR0 - L:6 - LD:6,000,000

          8. PR0 - L:6 - LD:8,000,000

          9. PR4 - L:3,000 LD:3,000

          10. PR0 - L:1 LD:35,000

Now my keyword is a 3 word long tail keyword and most of these rank for a simular one with the last word being different. Only the PR0 sites contain my full keyword but its only like 2/3 times on the whole site while mine has it about 22 times spread across 3 pages and as its on blogger its all visable on the main page, plus i also have it in the title and meta tags, none of these sites have it in there meta tags or meta keywords.

i have written an ezine article with this keyword it has no backlinks and its on page 3 in google while my blog with 81 links, has a PR6 and a PR5 is no where to be found and yes it is indexed.

Your blog has only been around a month, and only has a couple pages. Ezine has been around for 10+ years and has in excess of 330,000 pages (probably thousands more as I type) and 60,000+ backlinks. I'm guessing that might be a factor.

Perhaps add more quality, optimized content about your keyword, and keep backlinking via article submissions, blog posts, perhaps maybe some social bookmarking.
