6 Simple Steps, $30+ Per Day And Gaining With Only 5 Sites, It Really Is That Easy!

First off, I know $30 isn't a lot, but that's what I'm making on only 5 (now 7) small affiliate websites that really only cost me the price of the domain name.

I'll have you know that this didn't happen overnight. I have spent a lot of time working on getting these sites rolling. So now the plan is to keep building more sites using the process outlined below.

Below are the exact steps that I took to make this happen. Hopefully this will provide some inspiration and motivation to those who are looking for it.

FYI... These are physical product sites, and they are all ranking somewhere in the #3 to #10 range on Google page 1.

1. I browsed popular department store websites for typical every day items that people use.

2. Performed keyword research with Google Keyword Tool and other SEO tools to find promising [exact] keyword possibilities.

3. Purchased domain name with keywords in the domain name.

4. Built the website on my own using basic HTML (nothing fancy). Created 1000 words ish of unique keyword optimized content for home page and any subsequent pages (most sites are around 5 pages).

5. Submitted to major search engines, Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

6. Wrote articles for each site and submitted them to roughly 8 popular article directories. The number of articles submitted for each has varied based on competition.

That's really all that I have done, not too complicated. I would say it took roughly 3 hours to build each website and get them submitted to search engines. After that, building backlinks with article marketing. The trick is to stick with it even when you think it's not going to happen.

  • Good for you!! I'm following basically the same model; however I finally realized to make this happen I can't do it all on my own. I've outsourced some article re-writes and then for my next 5 sites I outsourced building the site and the articles re-writes. I do my own keyword research and domain buying (because that's what I like to do!) and I also will be posting the articles on my site and to the article directories. I'm considering hiring a full-time VA to do my backlinking, but I probably won't do that until I get at least 10-12 sites up and going.

    Here's to our success!

    • I'm also considering outsourcing some of this work once I get more sites established and bringing in steady income. For the time being though I'll crack down and continue to do the work myself in order to save a little coin.

    • Where do you find your article writers? Everyone I've used so far has been dismal.

    • Doesn't work for all, but work for someone , not too crazy about 3 hours on each site ...

  • Good luck...would like to be updated on how you are doing...thanks.D.
  • It is amazing how much we can overcomplicate things when it comes to making money online but when you stop overthinking and just focus on taking action consistantly that is when the money starts coming in. Keep up the good work and keep thinking about how much you'll make when you have 150+ websites up and running.
  • $30 isnt a lot but the action taking really means it

You're going to make more very soon

    Way to go
  • nice work. Great idea for building the sites
  • It's nice to see others doing well with small mini site development projects in combination with seo/sem campaigns. I've been doing the same as you myself for a little while now and also have plans of expansion. I currently only have 17 domains developed into monetized websites right now, but eventually I'd like to have a 100 site network. My main focus each time I add a site is to make sure it's paying it's own renewal fee's every year before I add another one (Baby steps). So far so good
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah, I simply try to set milestones. Next I'll try to hit 10 sites. I'm thinking I have a pretty good process down now where I can hammer these things out fairly quickly.

FYI... I make it a point to have multiple income possibilities on the sites, meaning affiliate, adsense, and even in some cases my own products. I've heard to many stories about folks completely losing their income because they were only doing adsense. Yikes!
      • [2] replies
  • good for you! I have a stupid question though. so how are you making money? just through adsense?
  • Great post, was wondering for your domain names whether you use specifically .com or do you also consider .info's and .net's?
    • [1] reply

    • I use .com's only. I never bother messing with .info's, .net's, .org's, or any others. Just stuck with .com's because that seemed to be the way to go at the time. Real no reason for it I guess. It's worked anyway.
  • I think it is interesting you have everyday products people use rather than some unique product. I would love to be making $30 a day..just what I need. Good for you. Thank you for sharing the info.
  • congrats on the achievement.
    • [1] reply
    • Nice work! That's pretty much what I do and I am doing 4-7K per month with 10 sites. Build more sites because you will see that you will get like 2 or 3 sites that easily make $30 a day each which is $90 a day plus the 30 you're already making. That's a decent income on auto pilot.

Do you target products over $100? Because that's also key to making more money with the same effort.

      Keep it up!

  • @leclaims @jan roos

Typically, do you use Amazon or a different affiliate network?
    • [2] replies
    • Mostly Amazon but also other aff networks with high ticket items.

      Cheers
      • [1] reply
    • Amazon, but I'm also looking at CJ for one particular type of product that I'm promoting. Seems to be better commission rates, so I'm going to give it a shot.
  • @jan and @leclaims,

Can i ask - what the miss rate is.

e.g you have 5 or 10 sites bringing in income, how many other sites did you build using the method that didn't make anything or do you find the research pretty much allows you to know you'll make something.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Now it's all about the research, If a product has a few hundred positive reviews on Amazon thn you know it is selling well so all you need to do is drive targeted traffic to that Amazon/otheraffnetwork page with your aff link and you'll make sales.

      Cheers

  • Exactly! After bouncing from one method to another for nearly a year I finally decided to stick with ONE thing until I started seeing results. It took about three months for those results to show up though.

Congrats on your success and for sharing how you did it!
  • Awesome information. Thanks for sharing.
  • This is really inspiring - thanks for the great read. I think I might have to dust off my SEO hat!

How come the IM game is seriously easy but so hard to implement???
  • hi Lechlaims:

Good tips! I have applied similar strategy with small success. Here's a proven trick to boost the conversion: if you mention a minor flaw of the product in your review articles, you appear to be genuine to readers. This would help to increase sales!

If you don't mind I ask, how do you measure the competition before you decide to launch a new site?

    Thanks!

    • I use a keyword difficulty checker. 50% or less, then I go for it. Higher than 50% difficulty, I forget about it. It's worked so far in most cases, but it's not really a huge factor in my decision to go for a keyword. I look more for keyword search counts, backlinks counts for the top competing sites, total indexed pages for the keyword, etc.
      • [6] replies
  • So its all about SEO and backlinks. Mostly backlinks, curious... what's the average backlinks you need to be significant on search engine ?
    • [1] reply
    • dejurs, It depends on your market. The more market you were in, the more backlinks you need. But after following other tutorials, if you submit your link to PR5+ is just almost the same as submitting 500 backlinks to no PR sites.
  • thanks i really love you post....
  • I use a similar model. Although I don't care if my tld is .net, .org, .info. I just go for the closest match and find a tld to fit. Wal-mart is also a good place to sell from. They offer similar commission as amazon and participate through linkshare. So if you run out of amazon products you can check out wal-mart to see if they have similar products.
  • Great going leclaims! Keep it up.

If you don't mind me asking, what percentage of the traffic is coming from articles directories, if at all? Or are those just back links to push your site to the top?

    Tanvir
    • [1] reply
    • Some traffic from article directories, not a whole lot though. Mainly using articles for backlinks. Most of the traffic comes from organic search results.
  • Mind to share the total earning per month ?

  • This is a difference here that really needs to be highlighted. I'm finding that the higher quality the content on my sites, the easier it is to rank. Autoblogging junk (I used to do it without success) just doesn't have the same effect as 500-1000 word unique content!

    Your results are great!

  • Congratulations! Your method is really simple and effective. I will see if I can follow. Thanks
  • Thanks for sharing.

    Simple yet effective advice.

I think persistence is key. I especially like your comment 'The trick is to stick with it even when you think it's not going to happen'.

It applies to internet marketing and other things that are worthwhile doing.
  • Did you go for unique niches as well ? So its a machine gun techniques then.
  • Good job! You should be proud of yourself for sticking with something long enough to see some success. I know a lot of people tend to jump from one thing to another when they don't see results immediately, myself included!
  • hello people,

I am doing the same thing now, but have relaized some niches are pretty competitive, so oyu need a lot links to built, So I do about 100 links a week for one of my sites, for know cause its fresh it has really low traffic and no sales, but I had some people subscribing to newsletter.

So it really takes time. I think its really important to have also good content inside blog if you have a blog for this seted up.

I also test other technique, with really good squeeze page to generate a list and than sending people to the right offer - aff from CB for example.

And sending them useful tips with newsletter then. So in this technique, no blog website, only squeeze page. would see in weeks to come how the traffic will boost, cause we are building links for this.

by the way one question for you: Where to find really good ebook product or electronic product for decorating interior niche?

I checked amazon for some ideas, cause in CB there is not really good one..
  • leclaims I just had a couple questions for you if you don't mind answering:

Could you elaborate a little more on submitting a site to Google, Bing, or Yahoo?

Do you take articles that you have posted to your site, and then submit them to article directories? Or do you write completely new articles and then submit them?

Do you backlink through a resource box? Have you found an effective way to word your resource box to get more click-throughs?

    Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Hi Gyromite,
Check out my answers to your questions below.

Nothing really special about this. Once I have a site completely finished and moved to my web host, I then submit the main domain URL to google, then yahoo, the bing.

For these sites I wrote completely different articles and submitted them to article directories.

Yes. I usually use the resource box as a continuation of the article or a teaser for the reader. I'll often say something like "Looking to purchase (link to site with keyword in anchor text) , then visit... ", or "Want to learn more about (link to site with keyword in anchor text), go to ...". I don't know if this the most effective method as far as conversions goes, but I do see quite a bit of traffic from these articles. The backlinks are what really matters to me anyway.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Congratulations on your success. I know it
was a lot of work - but you did it and that's
    awesome.

Persistence is the key. We can all learn a
    thing or two from you.
  • Hi, i read your steps and i did almost exactly like what you did. Anyway, how many articles per site did you submit to article directories? did you do it every day? maybe like create 5 articles (one for each site) every day and then you submit it to the popular article directories. thank you.
    • [1] reply
    • I started out with 5 articles per site and then continued to write and post articles from there. Some it only took 10 or so, others more. One site has over 30 articles written and posted for it.
      • [1] reply
  • Enjoy your success man.
After struggling for good 7-8 months with various famous and selling products, i too got back to micro niche products and found good results.

People are so engrossed with clickbank and digital products, that the doors are wide open for physical products.
  • Hi leclaims

    That's pretty impressive.

All up 15 hours work for a continuing $900+ per month. Even if it only lasts for 12 months you have $10800+ in returns.

Work that through at 15 hours and you've got a nice "little" $720 per hour. How many people would want that sort of hourly rate????

    Regards

    Bronwyn and Keith

    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Great work.. $30/day still a good money to earn. It will help for other investment... Congrats buddy!
  • Well done. $30 is just under $1,000 per month. I know someone who did the same and had 10 sites earning $10 per day, so $100 per day in total. Now the same 10 sites earn $20 per day, so totalling $200 per day. Thats $73,000 per year, just from 10 sites mixing affiliate and adsense. Can't complain at that.
  • [DELETED]
  • Well, "easy" is all relative.

What you're doing isn't push button easy like some newbies think, but a real strategy that takes planning and implementing. I think it's all in how you put all the pieces of the online marketing puzzle together.

Building websites that have information about products that lots of people are interested in is very doable for most people. Getting those sites to rank well is something that needs to be mastered - and that means understanding how seo and keywords work.

So, it's easy enough once you know what you're doing.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Exactly.

It's also very easy to get sidetracked when you have so much valuable information at your disposal. There are so many different avenues that you can be led down when you hang around the forum here. Not that it's a bad thing. I'm just saying that sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad, that is why I really tried to keep it simple with these sites.

  • Hey Guys,

Just wanted to chime in on the article writers issue. I personally use Authority Content (google them) and I am very pleased with the service. Quality is decent and quick turn around. I use them for all of my Amazon Review sites and they cost about $1 per every 100 words.

    • [1] reply
    • Yeah sometimes you get lucky and find writers who provide excellent quality for the same price as those who don't provide very good quality
  • Great job so far! May I inquire...

    1. The Local search volumes of your keywords?

    2. How well ranked are your sites?

  • very ecnouraging story. this has encouraged me a lot. i just opened my personal site today and i will put some affiliate marketin/adsense there to just to make some small cash to pay for hosting and domains. i have considered doing what you are doing too. having 5 sites who pay you 30$ a day, to me that is A FORTUNE and a goal that i will target myself too.

  • If there is a magic bullet in IM, what is in bold, italics, and underlined is that bullet.

  • that is a very good ways. That is effective, that can be hard but if you are well dedicated you love doing it not feeling bad times. The 6 step you thread is not that simple but nice.
  • That is basicly it. However, most people tend to give up when results are not really good. Thats why 80% of people trying to make money online fail at the end.
  • When you submit the same articles to all the article directories, is the title of these articles also the same?!

Btw, Good job with your amazing work.

  • Awesome work!

    This is MAJOR success!

It does not matter that it is only $30 at the moment I did a similar model to this and can tell you that if you keep on going you will get some items that do not sell at all and some that sell like wildfire...

Also try putting some high end items on there if you have not done so already.

    Awesome work mate.

  • This is a superb and simple plan. Do you use only article marketing to get backlinks to your amazon sites? How many posts do you have per site?
    • [1] reply
    • I do a tiny bit of social bookmarking, but only to an extent (very minimal). I focus mainly on article marketing.

I would like to perhaps venture out to other backlinking methods to see if I can get my sites ranked faster.
  • On an average, how many articles did you submit to top 8 directories? Can you mention those directories here? Thanks!
    • [1] reply

    • I depends on the keyword, in the case of the 5 sites in question, anywhere from 5 articles per site to 30 per site or more.

      EzineArticles
      ArticlesBase
      Amazines
      GoArticles
      ArticleRich
      TheFreeLibrary
      SooperArticles
      ArticleBlast

There are so many of them out there, you could submit to any combination and not necessarily these.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Thats an awesome and very inspirational story. I'm trying to get something like that going too. Article marketing can be a little rough to stick to though, so I'm trying to get away with doing a lot of forum posting and blog commenting type backlinking. I sure hope I can get away with it, but I'm going to try and write a press release today.
    • [1] reply
    • You don't have to rely on just article marketing, you can do a variety of things to get backlinks. It just happens that article marketing is one avenue that I chose and stuck with.

  • Great strategy and its a great inspiration for many IMers. By the way, is every single one of your article you've written greater than 1000 words?

    • No, just the content pages of my sites have roughly 1000 words. The articles I write for submission are typically 300 to 500 words.
  • What do you promote? Any specific merchant or just redirect the visitors to popular online retailers?
  • Very encouraging. I will give it a try right away but please tell me how do you pick the products that you are going to promote?
  • Very inspirational. Nice to have a reminder once in a while to develop a plan and stick to it (revise it if necessary) until you get results.

    Hats off to you

    • That is really great for you !

Now instead of building other sites like others advice (not bad advice though) try to increase the earnings of the current websites, you make an average of 6$/day with one website, im sure you are able to reach 10 or 15$ a day sooner or later! I think its better than building other sites !
  • So you are using 100% organic traffic to sell physical items $150 to $200 in price? You must be an ace at choosing the products, because $900/month from 5 sites that survive on Amazon commissions is spectacular.

You should write guide to how you choose the niche/products. I am sure that is most people's biggest problem in IM (besides traffic which you also seem to have down).

How long did it take for you to reach the $30/day mark?
  • Are these for info products or physical products?

  • Nice tips, it's great advice to know it didn't happen overnight, as usual testing, testing and testing some more, till you find successful formula, then simply rinse and repeat

    • Excellent one. So you are at #1 for 1 of your 5 websites on the main keyword, and #3-#10 for the remaining? Awesome job!

You have a solid foundation now - rinse and repeat. And most importantly, create a brand - this is something I tell everyone following this method. A brand is the biggest thing you are missing out and this is something you shall realize much better a couple of years later.
  • Nice thread. Congrats on your success so far, which is probably just the beginning.

$6/day per site isn't bad. Although I have a couple of sites that make $50+ a day, I really just try to make a new website make $1/day and I'm happy with it.
  • Great work and idea I think a lot of people will benefit from this information.
  • how can you actully rank so well in google without no backlinking effort at all. how did you get just articles to take yoursite so high in google, ive tried it and my blogs go no where in google.

i have a blog on a keyword with 150,000 searches a month and only 35,000 competition and none of those are based on that keyword yet after getting an article to backlink my blog and having built over 80 backlinks from blog comments and many more from forum comments the blog is still not ranking anywhere in google.

what exactly are you backlinking secrets. how can it be done so easily like you say.
    • [2] replies
    • If your blog does not have proper on page optimization then you will have a very hard time ranking for your keyword. On page optimization tells the search engines what your site is about which is the first step in the SEO process. Backlinks come second so go check your on page optimization for these things.

      1. Is your keyword in the title, description and H1 tags of your site or page you are trying to rank for?

      2. On the page you are trying to rank for do you have your keyword in there 2-4% of the time? This is called keyword density and basically it means that for every 100 words of content you have on your site you should have your keyword in there at least 2 to 4 times. Have your keyword in the opening paragraph of your content, in the closing paragraph and then a few times in between.

      3. If you have an image on your page, does the alt text for that image contain your keyword? If not, add it.

There's a few more things you can do to optimize better but the above 3 things are crucial.

Now the search engine spiders will come to your site and read the tags plus see the image alt text and find your keyword a few times in the body of the content. This way the search engines will know exactly what your site is about and you will need less back links than your competitor to outrank them.

      Cheers
