Product Idea.... I need your input

My 19 year old son has always had a problem with his weight, so a year ago he decided to lose weight and made up a program on his own and went from nearly 300lbs down to 210lbs in 12 months.

I thought about making an ebook about his story and promoting the ebook with videos etc. Do you think if I can market correctly this could turn into some good bank?

He is fine with doing this and in fact encouraging me to market it.

    i like the idea of telling people real stories; something that they could relate to, and feel that they are not reading "yet another book about losing weight"; these are the kind of e-books that i would buy; the main question is concerning what did your son do to lose that weight; if it resembles what it is already on the market, i don't think it would turn out very successful

    As a *cough* larger gentleman myself (okay, i have my own gravitation pull) i've often thought about losing weight and making video footage of progress, keeping a diary.. and using that to promote a weight loss program later. It's probably a good motivator to stick to the diet, so naturally i think it's a great idea.

    Okay it's a bit after the fact as your son has lost a huge chunk of weight already - but i'm sure you've got photos over the period of time.

    One thing I worry about - what if your son's diet wasn't healthy. e.g a diet that whilst allowing weight loss might have potential to harm the health of others if it's not nutritionally sound. What would the ramifications of that be? What legal issues might that open you up to?

    Perhaps if you had a nutritionalist validate the diet he followed that issue might go away.

    So a good idea - but might need some backside covering before you go live.

      On another site I own I have an affiliate who does exactly this about my weight loss product, she pulls in $500+ a month from me alone. She makes a monthly update video showing her weight loss and telling what shes been up to, another video with more info and advice / product recommendations, and 3-4 blog posts a week... pretty simple..

      So yes, along the way you can get a following, and build up a reputation and make money...

      .. and in the bigger picture yes, I would think it would be a decent idea for a product, and certainly this is how a lot of these products get started - google "John Stone Fitness"... he started with his fitness journed and daily snapshots of his body...

    Testimonials are usually the best ways to sell online. The message comes across better when there is a living proof story associated with it. I will say, go ahead and do an ebook and if you help with promotion, leave me a message.
