Domain Flipping/Parking

Can someone direct me to the right forum for information on working domains? Is there a recommended product or member site that anyone has actual experience with and would recommend. I've purchased a couple of reports sized ebooks, but they are both very vague and leave me with more questions than answers. I'm looking for something with a complete systematic approach to 'Domaining', preferably with video tutorials.

After a LONG layoff I'm hoping to make some quick cash so I can afford other marketing ventures. Since I have little to begin with, I have researched the quickest way to cash generation and working domains seems to beat everything else, hands down. Maybe I should qualify my statement by saying that I have little expereince and or technical knowledge to go at it any other way. Domain flipping is simple enough for the newest of newbies to do and takes little initial cost's.

Thanks

NamePros & DnForum both seem to be very popular communities for noob & vet domainers full of free information that may help you get your feet wet & pointed in the right direction.

Once you have a buyer. This is the same as with anything you offer for sale.

Finding that buyer, of course, depends on the quality and pricing of the items and then finding the right venue to advertise and/or networking to find someone who is interested enough to purchase what you have. This applies to most everything that is for sale.

With respect to pricing, it is best that you look at some sales history. Check out DNJournal.com Domain Sales and DN Sale Price- Domain Name Sales Price and History websites.

There is more to it, so heed what drifter73 mentioned plus there's still quite a bit of research you may need to do to really make some money at it. Patience is also required.

      Good Luck!

The thing with domain flipping is that while it's not terribly hard to find decent ones at the new registration cost (typically $10 or under, depending on the registrar you use), how quickly you sell that domain is going to depend on the amount of effort you put into marketing it.

Sadly, this is where many people drop the ball. They think they can list it at just one or two places and sell it very quickly. Unfortunately, it doesn't typically pan out this way, and sometimes you really have to send out dozens of emails and search out buyers in other ways as well in order to make the sale.

It's still not a bad deal though, when you analyze things. Where else can you make an investment of $10 or less, put in some effort and time (say 10-20 hours contacting buyers) and then sell it for $300 or even more? This is a very realistic scenario I've seen happen time and time again, but you have got to be willing to put in the effort.

        Paulie,

What books or courses would you recommend for domain flipping? What areas would you list a domain to sell? Thanks for the input. You seem to know a great deal about this business. Feel free for others to answer as well thanks.

Robert, I think Gene Pimentel has an excellent course on domain flipping that would be ideal for a beginner, in my opinion. I've had the most success with contacting offline businesses when flipping my domains, and since they're the end user of the domains you can typically get higher prices for them as well.

Gene Pimentel is the expert domainer here. He was leaving on some cruise not too long ago (his second this year, which shows that domaining pays off for him). Not sure if he is back yet, but he has some excellent products on domaining.

Thank you! I do appreciate everyone's replies but, you seem to be the only one giving me specific directions. I'll look into Gene's products. Thanks again, alex (swtp43)

Thank you Suzanne. Just returned a day ago, and the cruise was fabulous! We had a full suite on the Crown Princess for 7 days/nights... with ALL the bells and whistles. We were treated like royalty. And, yes, all thanks to domain flipping. By the way, if anyone is considering a cruise, I highly recommend contacting Willie Crawford. I booked through him, and he pulled some strings and went out of his way to take care of everything.

@ swtp43: Yes, you can make some very quick money in domain flipping, but you MUST know how to choose marketable domains. There is a long learning curve if you do it on your own.

It will probably be more profitable building a site around it and build value that way.

Sweetcheeks, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Maybe I should emphasize the fact that even though I am returning, I am still new. My time away did not afford me any time online to continue to learn. I was trying to survive a deadly illness. Thanks for the input though! alex (swtp43)

Alex, what he means is that you should probably build a website that corresponds with the domain you're trying to flip, as this enhances its value and attractiveness. Try to see it from the perspective of the buyer, they'd see more value in a relevant website built on top of a domain that they're interested in, than a simple domain with nothing attached to it.
