$1,000 in Just One Week

Hi Warriors,

Suppose some one put a gun into your head and told you to make $1,000 in just one week - working online .

Let's assume, you do not have a list, a website and cash.

How would you do it?

Mike,
#main internet marketing discussion forum #week
  • Flip ten sites at $100 apiece. 2-3 hours to setup each site, do the first few myself and outsource once profits start coming in.

Write like mad. $50 - $100 a day is easily attainable for a newbie writing, even if they start from scratch.

Offer full packages to current website owners - probably one of the easiest things to do to make money starting out.

    • I actually outline something like this in my ebook. Blog/site flipping can be very profitable and you don't have to have traffic to sell it. HINT the profit's in the upsell.

      TomG.
    • That said it all right there! He must of been in this situation before!

  • Not trying to put you down, but did you make money with this site? If I remember correctly, a few days back, you posted that you are a complete newbie to IM and were asking for help.

Also, if this is not your site (and I presume this since you are a newbie), you should not post its link in your signature.

    Thanks!
  • Mike I think this is called gun to the head marketing and I not
really sure you'll be able to get anything done with that thing
    poking you...lol

On a serious note making $1000 a week or your life all depends
of your skillset or your assets.

If I'm a good webmaster I would hire out my services or do a
brainstorming session and find hidden gems in within my field
then I would write an ebook or do videos/audios and start selling
it but that is after I do my research and see if there is a market
    for it of course.

    It boils down to assets/skillset/network..

    • Michael -

Got to ask - how does someone new with no site and no experience put together a WSO that would be of interest? For the same $20 for a WSO the person could get a domain and hosting.

When you have no site or blog - what would you put in a signature?

What would be the point of a signature telling people to PM you? (don't understand what this would accomplish)

For someone just starting out - looking at their own budget to find money for a domain and hosting should be the first step. For many, it's not really "no money" but an unwillingness to give up anything to allocate the money that is the problem. Still others don't want to "risk anything till I see if this works" - and because they won't take any risk, it won't work.

Anyone who really can't afford $20 a month for a domain and hosting - isn't ready to start a business.

  • Read "30 days to Internet Success"

This is something we discussed here back in 2004 - the exact same question and it was turned into a product with all the 'expert' answers.

  • I would grab my gun and shoot him! LOL j/k

I would take a week off from work (which I can't do at my day job right now, but seeing the circumstance that I have a gun to my head I would explain the situation or just quit MY LIFE > DAY JOB) I would write many articles with my affiliate links inside. I would use MySpace, Facebook, to use social networking sites as a way to advertise my articles and affiliate links. I would also use forum marketing as a means to do this. I would at it for like several hours and hit several niches i the process.

    • Do a Joint venture with an internet marketer who has a huge list. Do a 70/30 split.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Article writing is good, and even if you don't have orders, just keep writing, list them on article sites link URLS to landing pages for affiliate products
  • For those that can write, writing articles is an option. However, it's good to not throw that advice at everyone who is asking how to make money.

I have seen people ask that question who obviously were not good writers, and article writing would not be a good move for them. In fact, if they went full bore at it, they may ruin their reputation and waste lots of time.

Not that it's not a good option, just that it's not for everybody.

    All the best,
    Michael

But , how do you think a complete beginner make I made $2000 in just 24 hours .

  • I would start writing articles and post them to various sites, become an affiliate to different sites and sell products, join PPC, and would look for email marketing. Also I would start writing an ebook on how to make money in one week without any paraphernalia (including money to invest in something). All at the same time, if I want to make that money within that time stipulated. Jokes apart, I would like to know what ideas you have in mind for a similar situation!!
  • I could have done it easily by flipping websites or using WSO.

  • I'd go flipping 7-8 websites, and that can easily make $1000 profit in less than a week.

It's all about the value of the product you are providing to a prospect buyer. If it is good, you will get recurring sales - you might sell 3-4 websites to a single buyer. You build a reputation over time, and it helps, a lot.

Flipping websites is something I do, and I know it can make fast cash.
  • I couldn't do it with a gun to my head - too much stresssss
  • - Social Bookmarking service to multiple sites for $10
One could easily do 100 URL's in a week.

    - Article Submission.

    - Directory submission.

    - Blog commenting "do follow" niche sites.

Write PLR reviews for top converting CB products @$50/100 per package.

Submit videos via Tubemogul for unique videos created for the client @10-50 bucks each.

Use this forum to advertise your service via signature & PM

  • You're kidding, right???

Just in case this post is misconstrued, I am kidding ... And not to be an a**, but it just seems like such a great marketing opportunity.

Okay. The premise is ... If someone had a gun to my head and I had to make $1000 working online in a week...

This would make a great story. Get a video of the gun being held to your head. Put up a blog. Send traffic to it by putting out a press release, and doing YouTube videos. Share the story on MySpace and Facebook and Twitter.

Leverage the traffic to get some sponsors --- maybe whoever makes the gun. Or whoever makes the laptop you have in the videos.

Run a poll. Let people vote for whether or not you will make it. Charge them $1 to vote.

Run another popularity type poll. Let people 'choose' whether or not you will make it. People love train wrecks. Honestly, we're just a breath away from reality shows that murder people.

Talk to Oprah's people. Get on the show - use the angle that things are so desperate now that people are holding a gun to your head to force you to make money online. Ack. The Internet has run amok. All those church people were right -- it is devil worship.

See if you can get some celebrity endorsements. Maybe they're coming out with a new Charlie's Angels movies --- it could be Cameron Diaz holding the gun to your head.

Honestly, if you do all these things you will make much more than $1000 and when you're done you'll be able to do the talk show circuit and then write a book about your harrowing experience and do the circuit again when it is published.

Turn the book into a movie of the week. Play yourself. Gather a fan-base. Start a blog.

    Full circle.

Or, you could run with just one of the excellent suggestions already made.
  • 1. Sell the "future" of your service.
    2. Sell your stuff on Ebay
    3. Post a Viral Video on Youtube and sell advertising space on your profile
    4. Flip domain
    5. Invest in stocks online

The list can go on and on. Possibilities are endless.
  • hmm... good question, er

  • I'd secure $1000 dollars worth of freelance work and complete it all in four days. I'd also run 7 PLR packs as a WSO - one a day. After the client work is complete, I'd build squidoo lenses promoting clickbank products and promote them with article marketing.

That seems like a fun plan! Since I know I can get the freelance work, I start with that. I know there is a need for PLR - I can easily write ten articles a day in addition to the client work (especially if the adrenal is going - lol) and then once I know I secured the money, I'd do the squidoo thing as a buffer just in case.

I started with the thing I'm strongest in and have the most experience - complete work from clients. I've never run a PLR WSO but I'm certainly no stranger to writing articles so that would be phase 2. Phase 3 is just a fun extra. It's amazing what you can really accomplish in a week if you focus.

I admit its a daunting task to get prepared to be in IM even when your able to understand the lingo.
One thing for sure that all newb's like me need to do is set up a plan with the "how to" first, the "niche" second and thirdly "implement".
Also, never forget to build your network....

  • I came to the WF tonight looking for a way to post a question regarding a business I was researching. Over the past 3 hours (give or take) I've gone from one Forum (within WF) to the next and eventually ended up here, at the the bottom of this great exchange of ideas. My head's FULL!!! Part of why I've been here so long is because every so often I need to Google a term, "WSO","OTO","PLR", and so on. What an education!!! I was introduced to the WF a few years ago and bookmarked it!!! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID ... I SHOULD HAVE JOINED RIGHT THEN!!! I am in a similar situation to the original premise of this discussion, but I think I know a little more than a "Newb". No gun to my head, but after being exposed to this highly intense discussion, my head could explode? I know how to get to the first page of Google in a day or 2, but can anyone tell me where I can go to learn how to create those little boxes for capturing a name and e-mail address, so I can start building a list? Great Forum!!!

    • wonderfully put... I agree with this totaly. I have seen pople buy wso after wso, yet say they can't afford web hosting or aweber

sign up with an autoresponder service like aweber.
  • I could do it if you took everything away - but that's because I already have the knowledge, have already worked out systems to monetize certain niches, etc.

But it's not very likely someone would be able to do this if they are totaly new. The assumption is that it is only a lack of focus and determination getting in the way from immediate success. That is simply not true in most cases. $100 or so in a week is more realistic.

Here's the exception: I really think that the site flipping is probably workable..

article marketing: this forum is full of people who are doing this, with numerous 30 day challenge threads with people cranking out a lot of articles - and I don't recall any success remotely close to this. Not in only 1 week.
  • Hi Mike,

If you want to effectively "make" the money in that one week, as opposed to having it show up in your bank account, JVs can work VERY well.

Since the JV partner(s) you find likely won't be able to promote you instantly, you won't get paid until the day of the promotion a few weeks down the road ;-)

    Here's the method:

    1. Figure out what you're wildly passionate about AND an expert at.

    2. Do some Google research to figure out if this is a viable topic with an online following and some prospective JV partners with lists of 5000+.

    3. Narrow down your topic as much as possible - just make sure lots of people are willing to pay for this knowledge.

    4. Find some prospective JV partners of the kind mentioned above. I'd suggest 5-10 of them. Get their contact info from their websites - you'll need emails and phone numbers if possible.

    5. Open a blank Word document and write a 1-2 page letter about the proposal. Describe the product (the one you make below), its benefits, uniqueness and the offer you're making.

Offer your partner 50% of the profits right away and be prepared to offer up to 70%.

    6. Brainstorm your product - it's going to be an ebook with a downloadable MP3 version. Get a catchy title. Outline the benefits and results readers can expect if they apply your advice. Put that info in your letter.

    7. Contact Vaughan at Killer Covers and tell him you need an ebook cover within 3-5 days. Describe roughly what you want and then let him loose (he does great work). Once the cover comes in, paste a copy into your letter.

    8. Prepare a phone script to use when calling prospective JV partners and rehearse it.

    9. Start calling them. Describe in simple terms what you're proposing. As long as you sound credible and professional and courteous, you'll find some potential partners who are interested. Even try the biggest fish in your niche (T. Harv Eker was one of my very first JV partners and he didn't know me from Adam!).

Position your product as a multi-media product rather than "an ebook". You'll need to come up with a price point before you contact partners. However, be prepared to vary your price point depending on their advice.

    10. Send a follow up email with your letter attached. For those for whom you couldn't find a phone number, just send the email for now.

    11. Once partners start confirming with you, you need to do the following:

    - Grab a domain name at GoDaddy for a few bucks, grab an Aweber account for $19.95/month, an Audio Acrobat account for the same price, a PayPal account and hosting for your site.

    - Find a web designer who has previous experience in putting up a dirt simple commercial website and get him or her started.

    - Start writing the copy for the site. You'll need an opt-in page, a landing page for after the opt-in, a sales letter, a thank-you page and a download page.

    - Write one follow-up email for those who will opt in. Write another for those who will purchase.

    - Write a series of 3 emails for your partners to use to promote your products.

    12. I highly recommend you offer to do a teleseminar with your partners to talk about what you know. This will hugely increase response to your offer and the recording can later become part of the product. This also adds value for your partner. Believe it or not, I once sold 75 copies of my book to 30 people on a teleseminar by inducing them to grab extra copies as Christmas gifts - alas, that's been my only 250% conversion so far ;-)

If you decide to do this, then the 3 promo emails above will be to induce people to come to the teleseminar.

    13. Now, you just need to produce your ebook! You can either write it in Word, get someone to ghost write it, or you can talk your book into Audio Acrobat. If you write it first, then you'll need to read and record it in Audio Acrobat anyway for the MP3 version.

    14. For sales copy, depending on your topic, you might consider offering personal coaching as an upsell, thereby increasing your value to your partner even more.

That's it. I'm probably forgetting some details because there are lots. I can pretty much guarantee from experience that for every 5 proposals you make, you'll make at least your thousand dollar return (and that's a pretty conservative estimate). However, you probably won't get the funds for a month or two or three.

Nevertheless, that one week of work will make you several thousand in all likelihood.

I should add that I do JVs frequently and the method above is substantially the same as the one that's served me very well for years.

    Best of luck!
  • 3 Simple Steps:

    1. Find a hungry market
    2. Find out what they really want
    3. Give it to them

    1. Find a hungry market:
Check out the tv, newspaper, magazines, amazon.com, ebay.com buy.com, conversations from your colleagues, friends, relatives and neighbours and see what is the hottest topic that people are talking about, is it a hot product that just released or a problem that people are facing?

Make a list of 10 topics/problems/products. Choose one of them and go into step 2

    2. Find out what they really want
This is the emotional aspect where you tried to go into the brain of the people to find out
all their hot buttons. The easiest way to do this is to go the forum and find out what these people are talking about. Hang out with them for some time and think of the keywords and common lingos they use

    3. Give it to them
Put whatever keywords/hot buttons you found in your articles, blog or ppc.

For every target market you want to research, just follow step 1 to 3 and you are on your
way to create passive income for life.
  • Hey Mike,

Thanks for this question. I'll copy and paste it so I'll remember it.
It's this kind of thinking that will make you work 200% more effective and creative.

I'm just starting out, but I'd write an e-book, create a landing page and get affiliates to sell it for me. I'd then contact all major leaders in this niche market to tell them I've just released a major e-book in this specific niche and that I offer them a free interview, while adding a great article on what I'm about to reveal in my ebook.

I'll contact some of the people I know in my network that can write up testimonials for my product so it'll be absolutely invaluable.

You know what. Let's try it. I'll start writing an ebook right now.

    Cheers,
    Niels

  • I would say that if I new a way of generating money this quickly I would write an ebook and make a million in a week.

    Andy
  • I would take what I did know and go to some offline businesses, ask them if they want a website built with hosting for 12 months. Charge them $2,000 outsource to rent-a-coder or elance for $1,000 - There is your $1,000 at least per week profit, how many businesses could you find that need a website?
  • CPA all the way. 5 $200 verticals
  • i think i would be really scared, with my current skills. But if i were some one whos creative juice in web designing is overflowing, who marketing energy is endless, and has a super keen eyes to find the niche that brings in lots of money. then I would laugh at the challenge. my point is its really up to your skills. but also do not forget, that nothing in this business, that can't be learned.
  • I would flip 4 blogs in one week. Each retailing for $250. But you would have to do all the work yourself in order to profit the most. No outsourcing. Hard yes, impossible, no.

Stick to niches that do well - hot celebs, yoga, recipes, iPhone, green living, weight loss, SEO, blogging, etc.

For further tips and details, feel free to send me a PM.
  • Is the gunman going to be holding the gun all week? I'm betting he'll get tired. I bet that I can stay awake longer than him. Then, when I'm sure he's asleep, I grab the gun. Then, I call the police. I bet this guy's a career criminal. Maybe there's a reward. Maybe even a $1,000 reward.

Oh, it has to be online... Okay. So, I eMail the police instead of calling them.
  • it's an inspiring post... do you have another example of similar posts to this?
  • I'd likely spend 4 days drinking a lot of coffee, smoking a lot of cigarette's, and cranking out roughly 20 or 30 articles to sell. Every article I sold, I'd use the money to outsource more articles for 5 to 10 bucks a pop, then turn around and flip those. It would be living hell though.
