I need help figuring this out

Okay so I've got a website that has a banner selling an ebook. The banner is linked directly to a PayPal button, there is no squeeze page or anything. They just click the banner and go directly to PayPal.

My question is this. How can I get the ebook digitally or automatically delivered to them? I can't wrap my brain around the logistics of this.

    Hi AFI,

You can setup this from inside your paypal account, when you created your payment button there will be an option that says something like - "redirect page after purchase" I forgot the exact word.

You can put your download page url there, or you can even put your file url directly, for example http://mysite.com/myfile.zip

    Hope this helps.

Yeah but if I give them that page, they could just give that page to all of their friends without paying? It would be an "open" page on the site. I want a page that is encrypted or at the very least, password protected.

1-Set your PayPal button redirection to a thank you page with download links.

2-Using something like e-junkie to set delivery.

3-Going a step further and use some membership script (BFM, amember..etc) to deliver your ebook via protected page.

If you want t secure the page, like goldmind123 said, ejunkie is very easy to setup. About $5 bucks per month. You can even find free 90 days trial coupon by googling it.

Okay. I just have never used ejunkie before and I liked the other site because they said they'd install it for me. I'll check it out though.

You don't have to install anything with ejunkie, just a couple form to fill and payment button code to paste to your website.

i checked that link of yours, and it is pricey; can't you hire someone to make you a script and install it so you would have that feature? this way, you'd own the license for the script; if that works for you, then you could even sell it afterwards; maybe you'll get someone cheap that could do that for less than the price requested for that automated script

To answer you're question. What you want to do is package the e-book in a zip file. Ok, then you want to create a thank you page, if you have hosting, you're hosting company should have some sort of website creator. I would go ahead and upload my .zip file to my hosting account first. Then use you're website creator to build you a small thank you page. Say something like "Thank You For Purchasing My E-Book, Your downloads are below" Something similar. Ok, within your're website creator there should be a hyperlink option. Now what you want to do is grab you're .zip file and put it in the file destination box, Also this is where you add some more txt "Download {product name here} by clicking this link" Something similar. Ok, once you have you're page you need to log into you're paypal account and edit you're purchase button, which you said was in the form of a banner? Go to the same page you went to within paypal to create you're button. Ok, there should be 3 steps, open up step 3 by clicking on it. A page will open up with more advanced features. You should see "take customers to this URL when they finish checkout" Ok, so this is where you put you're thank you page URL. Then tick the box on the left side of it. Click create button, you're finished!

    Let's recap.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1.Package you're e-book as a .zip file.
2.Upload the .zip file to you're hosting server
3.Use you're hosting companies website creator to build a small thank you page
4.Use a hyperlink yo embed you're .zip into you're site with text
5.Login to paypal, go through the same process as you did before when you created you're purchase button, find the step 3, open it up and put you're thank you page URL in the box, then tick the box on the left. Then click on create button.

Okay you get a thank you for that one.

I've already set it up with eJunkie. I tried to test it but it won't let me buy from my own PayPal account so hopefully it's working.

You should also set it up so the ebook gets sent to their e-mail. Why? What if they quit the page they where redirected to (mozilla crash, for example) and can't find it again?
