  • It really depends on your niche...

There are dozens of ways to promote your site, and millions of websites where you can advertise...

No one can help you unless you are more specific...
  • I agree with tpw we need to know your niche to best assist you. Always the best places though are forums in your niche and of course Facebook and Twitter are some of the best places to start.

    • Start off with some planning.

Do the usual things like register on all famous web 2.0 sites like Twitter, Facebook etc. (Don't forget LinkedIn).

Then proceed to submitting on Major search engines, this should be done earlier to give sufficient time to index.

Find your niche specific sites and promoting.

Good idea to register on a good banner exchange site (your banner on other sites and others on your) not for ever but for staring it's good idea.

Link building on niche related sites (Remember having 1000 backlinks are useless if they are not from related sites so go for specific sites and not for quantity).

Hope this will provide some sort of help or guidence.
  • First of all - all social bookmarking sites. Digg, reddit, propeller, stumbleupon, etc...Write a press release, go to niche forums and post with a sig linking to your site. Those are the basics.
  • There are a lot of ways to promote your future website, but that depends on your chosen niche.
In general, you can use social websites like Twitter and have a lot of backlinks.

    Good luck!

    • If you use Twitter for social interactions, that's a good place to promote your website.

If you use Twitter as a glorified RSS feed, never mind.

  • Please provide information about your niche. If you use a social network, and I recommend that you do, it is better to be social than to rely solely on automated messages. Bet wishes to you.
  • If your product or service caters to Internet Marketers, then the Warrior Special Offer Forum is highly recommended.
  • All the above are really great pieces of advice.
I would like to add something not mentioned here, called pinging. It means that you put in your URL and it takes the word out the so to say.

    Services: pingomatic, pingler, pingmyblog

Also if you get google reader into your browser, you can click on your site, add a note and keywords in the box that pops up - this is called rss feed
