Why is it that Google still shows only 2 links pointing to my site when I search for link:mysite.com? It's been like that since a couple weeks after I started my site (5 months ago today).

Yahoo shows 1,700 or more... even bing shows a whole lot more than that. I have written tons of articles that link back to my site with relevant anchor text, bookmarked it countless times with relevant anchor text, submitted my site to directories, etc. Even pages that I know have 100+ backlinks show 0 in Google.

What am I supposed to do for Google to recognize my backlinks? And why is my PR still 0 with more than 1,700 backlinks, 5,000 pages of content, etc.?

I usually don't ask simple Google questions, but this is irking me. I am pretty sure Google has done a PR update/algorithm update since June.

Sometimes Google indexes backlinks in a long period of time. I would just wait and results should start showing soon especially if Yahoo is already showing results.

The problem with webmaster tools is that the numbers are overly exaggerated...

Because I have a link to my home page on every page and sub page of my website, it shows 500,000 links pointing to my root domain from my site.

Other than that, it shows something like 400,000+ backlinks pointing to all pages on my site... from 101 domains. I have never even heard of half of the sites listed, and none of my blogs or social bookmarking sites are in that list either.

    Strange.

It will take a while after Google will index all your backlinks.
    You'll see the results later.
    Good luck mate!

        Hi SEEKYT

Google will take a while to show all back-links(usually 3 to 6 months) , maybe it never show all back links coz it's inaccurate

        But don't worry..

HERE is step to make sure you get link juice and credit in eyes of Google for the content you created.

        1) Go to the content you have created, copy and paste the URL in Google search , If you can see your page in search then page is indexed by Google and nothing to worry about as it will be updated in Google sooner or later.

BUT If you can't see your content in Google search then you need to do this extra work to be indexed..

        1) Just bookmark all the pages which are not indexed by Google. By bookmarking Google Bot will come soon and index you content. I got indexed within 24 hrs.

Don't be disappoint , you are doing great job by creating content. I don't know your are at No# 1 spot or not. If NOT you will be soon at no. 1

Need any help just PM me

        Good Luck

Don't rely on the list shown by Google, they hide the real backlinks. The reason is they don't want us to find out which links have more juice...

If you want a better indication, use google alerts on your domain name...

    But keep it secret, ok?
