There are PLENTY of people making money this way. I don't use it myself but I think the key is to provide quality, detailed reviews and to STICK AT IT. Most people give up all too quickly. With Wordpress you can schedule up, say 10-20 reviews while you are still feeling inspired, and then leave them to be released on autopilot if you find it tough going. My advice would be avoid the geek/tech niche, way too much competition from the geek blogs. Microwaves sounds better

This is a good plan as long as you stick to it and do good keyword research. You might be interested in Dan Brock's Deadbeat Super Affiliate product - this is the sort of plan that he covers in that product.

Your reviews should be long (around 800-1000 words) and provide value to the reader. Do an extensive research first for each product you are reviewing and then provide all the details you found in the review post. You will need also to create a few supporting posts on the same blog that will be linking internaly to the review post. That way you will boost rankings of the review post. Also, don't forget external link bulding as well.

I wouldn't go with Amazon products as their commission is very low. Try some other physical products from CJ or shareasale

I think you're heading down the right path. I built an Amazon site to test the waters and it's making a few sales a month so I know this works but I just need to scale it up.

I think you can go two routes, either build small product review sites then profit from high volume sales or work on one or two sites with high priced products then focus on sending traffic to them. Goodluck!

It maybe better to write long and high quality posts per product. Aside from ranking for the keyword it is optimized for, long product reviews also have a chance of ranking for other LSI and longtail keywords mentioned within the article.

I was thinking the same thing about blogging. Im curious if those review vlogs were really making some serious money. Oh well so does this review blogging technique apply to other niche such as money making? Im thinking on how popular a blog review site in the money making niche can be?

I do product reviews too and much prefer doing it to other methods. I also make money from adsense with product reviews too.

I just have a specific theme for a site then write as many reviews as possible on products relating to the theme. It does well. I find once I have set up backlinks for a good few pages other pages rank well on their own.

I'm guessing any niche could be profitable if you research it well enough and bring in enough traffic. I guess I'm partial to physical products for this type of stuff though, not sure why, just am.

I make money with product reviews. I have found Amazon and product reviews a VERY good mix! But, the key is to create a good review and not just copy all the info from Amazon. It's also good to compare products and give a recommendation. Of course, you will also need to do keyword research and drive targeted traffic to your review.

When creating backlinks for a review site like being discussed here, do you recommend creating backlinks to the top level domain or to specific pages within your site? Or both?

Example:

all backlinks to www.xyzproductreview.com

or

all backlinks to www.xyzproductreview.com/this-brand

or a mix of both?

You want to create a mix of both and make it look natural. don't just build profile links or just article back links. Have a mix of links and also mix the anchor text then you will do fine.

To answer the OP's question, yes I make money doing product review blogs for Amazon products. Choose a niche and build a review site around the niche. Make sure to include a few negative reviews as well to build trust with the readers.

Optimize, have each review on it's own post or page optimized for it's keyword and have the home page target the main niche keyword like explosion proof refrigerator reviews or best explosion proof refrigerators etc.

Short answer: Both.

Medium sized answer: For a new web property, I'd start out with most link building efforts aimed at the domain name. As the site started receiving traffic and was getting indexed well, I'd continue to build both, but shift the focus to the individual products. Varying up the sources and types of links too, I think that is important as well.

Yes - I think product review sites are starting to get very popular with internet marketers, and also very competitive. I have a few and you do have to constantly stay on top of adding new, original content, and a solid, aggressive backlinking strategy to compete - in some.

I'm sure there are plenty of areas that are still untapped.

Yes, you can absolutely make money from this. A lot of my sites are much the same. The one thing about having a generic site like 'microwave reviews' for instance is that it is harder to rank for the individual keywords that you would like to rank for. Harder...but not impossible. The reason is, if you have your most desired keyword in the url (i.e. supermicroveturbo or whatever) it will carry more weight when it comes time to trying to get it to rank. There are advantages to having an 'all in one' review site though, it's much easier to drive traffic to it and you can laser target your backlinking campaign. I do both.

I make money from product reviews. But you need to write articles and create other backlink too. The traffic does really convert well too sales with targeted articles ('xxx review, is xxx a scam? etc'). But with howto and fix posts pointed at a review blog post conversions are much lower

Before do proper research on keywords and only go for monthly search above 2500 if doing SEO..

For ppc you can have search of 100 as well depending on product..

Focus on buying keywords only.

Go for product above $100 for good commission... Less than $100 is waste of time..

I do a bit, it's mix of a blog and review site. You need to optimize your site for search engines and generate traffic or you won't beat the competition (other affiliates). You can either choose Amazon or Clickbank but some people looks to be really having more success with physical products.

I have one review site that made me $78k last year. The commission on each sale ranges from $20 - $47 bucks...

The key is to do your research..

Personally I would not build a site and spend all my time promoting it knowing that I was getting tiny commissions from Amazon with Microwave ovens..

Go where the money is and then work hard and focus on one site... Preferably around your passion or interests.. This way your more likely to succeed..

Does it make you feel great writing about Microwave ovens? I doubt it!
