Link cloakers (A bit SUS)

Hi all, I am wondering, has anyone used "affiliate link bomber"?

This is my case; I used affiliate link bomber, because I had concerns for parasitic software running amok.

Since then, I noticed a huge drop in sales.

A bit sus, I decided to just use the clickbank link, which is already cloaked.

Then sales came back, going back to ALB in the hope I can increase conversions, and it all dropped again...

I tried the cloaking and then the redirect, but sales still low...

Desperate to make some sales for my campaigns, I decided to get some extra free traffic by submitting articles to Goarticles.

The first article went through without a hitch, But then when I went to submit the second article... This is what happened:

In the goarticles account, I prepared everything I needed to, to submit another article... Then as I hit the preview key to see if all is good, I decided to hit the "continue to edit" key... All of the sudden, ALB came up!

I then thought, hit the submit key and submit the article(so that then I can go back and edit it), but then ALB came up again...

I'm thinking, how in the hell did this pop up?

Maybe some how, through the program, a cookie is being inserted into my visitors computer, where every now and then, the visitors are redirected to ALB, as a form of THEIR marketing strategy... In affect it is probably causing distrust to my visitors and this as far as I'm concerned, will affect any branding aspects of biz

Now I am Totally SUS.

Has anybody had any same experiences?

Thanks in advance, Pierro

I have had plenty of trouble with cloaking scripts.

Hi and thanks for your reply (ncmedia)... This is what's getting me up in a pandemonium state of mind - the cloaker is at the server side ( I have to create data bases for this)

Why does the cloaker's website pop up, when I'm in the goarticles directiory, trying to submit an article?

Unless there is something in the program, that inserts a cookie for their purposes (ALB) into the pc's of my website visitors. I am my own visitor and to experience what I did... many questions of distrust enters my mind.

    I'm dumb founded!

    cheers Pierro

As Norb rightly says above, if you just do local redirects and avoid these unnecessary third-party services, you don't have to worry about these problems at all - and you're more in control of your own business, too.

    Ditto to the comments above.

Have you tried GoCodes. It's a great redirection plugin.

I used Affiliate Link Cloaker from 2007 until recently, then suddenly when I checked my links, I discovered they were just opening a blank page. I tried to contact the site I bought it from but just see a message telling m that a new version is in the works, come back soon!

It's a pity this software has stopped working, as I said, I used it for 3+ years and it produced great cloaked links like www.mysite/product.html and completely hid my affiliate identity throughout the buying process.

I've just spent the entire weekend searching the web for a replacement without success. I found a couple of likely candidates but further research always turned up negative feedback.

What on earth happened to Affiliate Link Cloaker, it was brilliant?

Was it a software that was installed on your PC or web server?

As has already been said stick to simple redirects. Even if using software. Most affiliate networks like CJ and ClickBank do not allow true cloaking (using stuff like frames) to mask the domain on the end users browsers.

I used a paid plug-in that I loved but the developer stopped developing it so all my affiliate links died. Just what happened to you Annie. Blank pages and 404 pages. So I'm very leery about using plugins now.

A software or script that sits on my desktop or server and just automates the redirection process is what I stick to now.
