What part of that process is bogging you down?

I understand the process but I just don't get how to do it. Say my site lets just call it site X how can I get my Squeeze page above that page, so the reader almost has to enter the information if they want to read the information.... If that makes sense. And how can I do this?

Not really... but I will try it again.

      - visitor arrives to example.com (your domain's URL)
      - because every website displays by default the index file - they will see your squeeze page

IMPORTANT! If you already have an index.html file in your root (public_html folder) save it with a different name, otherwise the new index file will overwrite it...

      - make your "information" page the thankyou page from my description above

    In more details:
    1. You make a simple html file where the only content is a short text "selling" your reasons to sign up - make it example.com/index.html to be displayed on your domain (or example.com/something/index.html - if in a subfolder)
1a. create a file/page (e.g. nextstep.html) where people arrive AFTER submitting the form: tell them to go to their Inbox and click on the link in the confirmation email
1b. create a third page/file (e.g. thankyou.html) where they will arrive AFTER clicking the confirmation link in the email - that should be your download page or OTO page

    2. create an account at aweber > create a list > get the form code...
(they will guide you through the process; asking for the URL of the pages above)

    3. place the form code in your optin/squeeze page (index.html)

    Get traffic to it

I don't think you're talking about a squeeze page. A squeeze page is for collecting email addresses for marketing purposes. I think what you're looking for is a membership script. Or have I misunderstood?

It doesn't matter what tool is used to build/make a web page - it can be even notepad if you know html.

However, I see a flow in this whole "business plan"... WHY would anybody want to sign up, not knowing what is 'behind' your squeeze page? What is so unique in your offer that would tempt me (or anybody else) to sign up for your list?

I am not saying you don't have... just thinking aloud. To sign up just to visit your site? Hell no! At least for me that's not a compelling reason.

All valid points but I am wondering how to do it, I think I said it wrong in the question. What is happening is the main site is information based with links. One of these links then points to my squeeze page for something "gonna be some sort of product" Then they enter their info, and the product is sent to them!

At the moment it looks like you are looking for popup, not a squeeze page. Squeeze page is a simple page, with just opt-in and some content.

There's product called Popup Domination. It's not too expensive ($77), but it will help.

It will create a nice mini squeeze page, just when visitor comes to your site. They can't see your content before they close it, or enter their email.

Aweber has the option for an optin box to popup built-in.

Go to your form settings and follow these options.

Place the javascript anywhere on your site and when a user visits, the page will dim and your option box will pop-up.

P.S You can change the width, that's just what I'm using.

Ah-Ha! Now I got it. I'm a little dense sometimes.

Simple. Go to your Aweber account and set up your list (just follow their prompts), build a webform, get the code for the webform and paste it on your squeeze page with some compelling reason for me to give up my email address. Once a user enters his or her info, Aweber will automagically send a confirmation email. Once he's confirmed, he'll get the welcome email that you wrote when you set up your list. In that email will be the download link to the product. You can also put the download link on the thank you page which you define in Aweber when you set up your form.

Thanks so far I get it but you know the squeeze page URL? Do I promote that separately to my website? Or shall I just put the code on my website?

Personally, I'd put the code for the sign up form on your main website.

You don't want visitors to have to jump through hoops to sign up to your mailing list. Just make sure that your 'bribe' for them signing up is relevant to your website.

      Just my thoughts,

      Jeff.
