And I am a huge fan of free tools. Does anyone know of a good tutorial that can show me quickly how to create a data CD that will automatically play when the CD is inserted?

Thanks.

It's a simple batch file named autorun.inf with three lines of code, stored in the root directory of the CD.

Look here for an example.

Autorun.inf file, What is it?

Replace autorun.exe with the name of the program you want to run. Same for the icon if you have one.

Google is your friend!

What do you want to auto play?

Check your burning software to see it there is an option for auto play.

Thanks to you both. I guess I was using the wrong terminology. I searched Google for "autoplay" and I should have been searching for "autorun."

Tom, I am using an old version of Nero. It's Nero 6. I assume it's old because I've had for years. Again, I searched the help files for "autoplay." Thanks to you both for helping.

My post is for "autorun". I knew what you meant!

  Does that help?

What's the name of the file you want to autorun?

  [autorun] open=filename.exe icon=filename.ico
