This is probably obvious, but If I create a pen name for a niche, I need to keep that pen name for everything i sign up for for that niche right

Whether it is an email , social bookmarking site or anything

Thanks

Not necessarily. Just because the content was written by one person, doesn't mean that another person couldn't be doing the promoting.

      Exactly right.

This strikes me as being quite a strange question.

You'll perhaps want to keep the name you post under on your own site (and in any niche-relevant articles you may syndicate around) consistent, though, just because it'd help with building trust.

If I see an article on a directory posted by one man/woman named Ben, which links to "his" site, where he posts under the name of Bernadette, and then I receive emails from their mailing list under the name of Barbara, I'm probably going to be wondering what the hell is happening, and who the hell I'm dealing with. I wouldn't perceive any one of them as having as much knowledge or authority as I would if they were all "the same person", because I wouldn't "know them".

Also, it might be common knowledge around here that a lot of the products we buy (or affiliates we buy through) utilise pen-names, but I'm not sure the "average consumer" expects this ... and so they might perceive you as being a bit shady if you're so blatantly leaping around all over the place with a zillion different names.

Don't worry about it for social bookmarking purposes, though. Anyone can social bookmark a site (and in fact, the less related to you they are, the more "natural looking" it'd appear in this case, I think).
