by kocenghabok

I had recently built a social bookmark site. Its likes digg, reddit, etc where people can share their web content. But, my site is wont to compete digg, reddit, etc. I make it for only my local country user.
So, my question is how to make it get a lot of traffic and have a good pagerank?
thanks for any answer

You should hire a team on ODesk and get them to create tons of backlinks to the site... If you dont know much about SEO or backlinks I would go with backlinkteam.com as they still use off-shore teams to keep costs down but manage the teams with an American Manager who manages your campaign. I have used them a lot and have always gotten great results... Google any Barter related keyword and you will find my website listed in my sig on the first page... They also did it in just two weeks.

The same way you'd drive traffic to any site. If it is similar to digg and things like that hopefully you can have a few articles/stories that go viral and then lots of people would start linking to you naturally. Otherwise Id start building high quality backlinks over time and get it ranking for your desired keywords. A generic web directory submission would also help to lay a foundation of backlinks.

There are thousands of social bookmark sites, many with very high page rank.

Think "Why would anyone use mine?"

The is that if your site will on the top of the list at the firstpage of the search engine it means yours site is famous so they will use it...people will take a look the top 3 sites...I know this because I am an SEO head for two years...

Yes, i know about SEO and backlink, but still not understand about it. I think i might do it by myself, because my target is my local country. And in my country that's just 2 popular social bookmark, 1 of them often down. So i think it is a good field.

And, what is the best method to build ton of backlinks, how many backlinks per day is good to avoid google sand box?

yes, i know, but in my country, that's just 2 social bookmark, and one of them is often can't access because their server is down.

Okay, seriously... there's tons of ways to drive traffic to your site.

In your particular case though, since there's a LOT of competition, you'd better do some thinking first. Make a list of the top social bookmarking sites and why they are there, the benefits to the users, study how they got there, etc. That will give you a good start on the market. Very neccessary in this case, IMO.

Once you have an idea; you can promote your social bookmarking network on forums, blogs, buy advertising space, run PPC ads, etc. The methods can be anything as long as you have clear goals and know what you're doing.
yes, thanks, but my category is about anything

If you're targeting your country, advertise in places where people from your country hang out. Find sites with a lot of traffic from your country and buy ads on them. To make a social bookmarking site work, you're going to need a lot of traffic.

how to get traffic to your site? just think of how people supposed to know about you without telling them. you can't do this in one day only, I suggest you submit your site to many search engines as you can. have message board, guest book, links directory, online search, picture gallery...this makes visitor enjoy your site and that could interact with you.

If it's revenue sharing I'll use it. Triple threat adsense, kontera, and chitika even better. Does it have a profile page and do all the bookmarks link the profile page because that's a problem I have with sites like Karma Lynx? If it's wordpress, even better.

High PageRank is consistent with the number and value of links you have to your site.

Usage is just a matter of letting some people know, perhaps through links, then letting it grow naturally.

I built a twitter-style social media site earlier this year.

Now it has about 250 users, of which about 2/3rds use the site weekly.

Is the site valuable to anyone but me? Yes, or they would not come back each week.

Problem is this: Is it valuable to me? Not yet, and I am not sure it ever will be.
