Looking for advice for hiring a writer

I'm looking to outsource about 25-50 articles for the first time. It is in the gambling niche and I'm just looking for any advice on what to look for when finding a writer as I know that there are a lot of people who promise the world and don't deliver.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Check out the Warriors for Hire section here. Read through the reviews left by other members who have tried the services offered in that section.

You may do well in the Warriors for Hire section since the writers there are familiar with internet marketing and the significance of using keywords for articles.

Otherwise, you can also try Elance. You can easily sort through the profiles of freelancers for hire there where you can see their sample articles and testimonials from previous customers.

You can hire writers who charge per number of words or per article. Take a bit of time to read through their samples so you can easily make a shortlist of prospects to contact.

I think one key thing you need to do when hiring writers is to give them very detailed instructions and have a thorough discussion with them about what you need.

Give the writer a complete keyword list, describe the tone you need the articles to have, set the minimum word count, and specify the format (doc or text) of the articles to be delivered. If it's going to be in Word, you can also specify the font, the font size and the spacing of the document.

State your time frame and discuss with the writer a workable delivery date. You can also agree on an "update schedule" so that the writer can update you on his progress, or an "installment delivery" like if it will take 10 days for 50 articles, maybe the writer can submit 15 articles on the third day. 15 on the sixth... then you can pay by installments too.

Make sure also to agree on a revision process, just in case. Will the writer charge for revisions or is it included for free? If you discuss things thoroughly before the work process begins, this shouldn't be a problem.

Goodluck and when you find a great writer, treat him / her like gold.

      Hope this helps!

Make sure they can actually write!

All jokes aside, if you are paying 3 dollars for a 500 word article, you're going to get garbage. Invest a little more green, and you will get that much more in return.

I have personally hired people from here, other forums, oDesk and eLance. There are good and bad writers to be found wherever you go.

My best tip if you want to make sure things go smoothly is to get a sample. Look at their portfolio and if it seems ok start with 1 sample article. Pay them for this, it isn't fair otherwise. If the sample is good then go with a small order and take it from there.

Like I said there are good and bad articles everywhere to it pays to start slowly to make sure things go as smoothly as possible.

How much are you willing to invest in per article? How many words would you like to have for per article? Maybe I can see if I can quote you a reasonable price? I am currently trying to see if I want to provide unique articles to warriors.

When starting with a new writer, always ask for at least several samples (which you can pay for) to get a better idea of his or her writing style and the quality of his or her work. Never pay for a bulk order in advance until you feel pretty comfortable about the quality of the writer's work, and that you can trust him/her to deliver on the order.

There are many outsourcing sites that could help you for looking article writers. However, the problem rises when the employee you have hired is not what you expected. In order for you to avoid this, you can conduct interviews both in the oral and written skills. You can ask for some samples (if they have experience) while for those newbies, you can give them something to write about.

    Hope this will help you.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of freelance writers out there just waiting for you. These writers normally have profiles that contain details of previous work experience and portfolios you can readily check out. You can invite as many writers as you can for interviews, ask them for written samples and decide on the one that meets your budget and criteria. Be realistic, though. Don't pay $1 for a 1,000-word article and expect it to be of excellent quality. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.
