Are you In The Weight Loss Niche?

Warriors,

I am curious to hear who is in the weight loss niche....What are you doing? what seems to be selling? Not selling?

I am interested to hear your stories as the time of year is rolling around again....

Are you selling PLR ebooks?

Would you be interested in an entire PLR program complete with audio and video or is that too much?

Look forward to the banter

      Hi John,
I have been watching this niche for a couple of years now and it continues to grow each year. Belly Fat is the hot way to go at the moment. Last year I lost 50 pounds on Jorge Cruise's The Belly Fat Cure. Which is simply limiting yourself to 15 grams of sugar and 120 carbs a day. I would love to have a full program on a lifestyle plan in this area. For those of you that are wondering about marketing and getting traffic, check out Jorge's site. Very simple, but he is the King on social media marketing and his traffic numbers are unbelievable.

I am not in the weight loss niche; however am quite a bit into weight loss and fitness. I can tell you that there is a guy, or a group of guys actually, but mostly a guy named Joel Marion who has put out several weight loss, quick fat loss diets recently that have sold a ton!!!

The thing is...his stuff is legit, that is why I think it sells very well. He does not create crappy information, and he has a lot of backing, one being the winner of the National Body For Life Contest. He also has some real heavy hitters in the fitness field with him. Guys that a lot of people trust and know from their other programs.

About a month or so Joel teamed up and launched a program with Arnel Ricafranca...Arnel built a youtube subscriber base of almost 500K by offering free daily workout programs.

He just launched a new book called Cheat Your Way Thin - Holiday Edition the past few days and his stuff always ends up being top CB products. Look here Marketplace - ClickBank

I am not plugging the guy...so don't think that LOL. But I figured I would let you know because it seems that every time he launches something it sells thousands of copies in hours, and usually prices at about $77

I've seen a few article by Joel on T-nation.com which is the best bodybuilding/weightlifting site there is. However, they weren't ever the highest rated articles by the members. Pretty basic stuff compared to a lot of the people on there.

There are plenty of people on that site that could use their qualifications and make a lot of money but they don't know how to market what they're doing very well. Or most of them try and market their gym and training versus some ebook. Little do they know their ebook could bring in a lot more than their gym would by training people

I agree with you DaveJ13...T-Nation is a great site, but I think more to those that know about bodybuilding and so forth. For example I really don't think that most people know about Chris Shugart and the V-Diet for example, let alone that most should not attempt it.

However my opinion with JT, as well as his group of guys (Vince DelMonte, Craig Ballytyne, Arnel R., etc.) they gear more towards the newbie dieter/bodybuilder. People that don't know a lot, or are looking for a better way.

It is almost like the IM niche in weight loss, you have people that know you can find the information online for free, but people know that people will pay for the information as well, ie. just getting into IM, or Just getting into losing weight. Some people are looking for a magic way to make money, some are looking for a magic way to lose weight. It's all about what you put into it. I think that IM and the Diet/Fitness industry are almost identical in that aspect.

If you are into BB, and weight loss, fitness, you'll find sites like T-Nation, JohnStoneFitness, etc

Yeah he got married this summer...the guys I mentioned were his best men LOL. I think Arnel lives, or used to live about 20 minutes from me.

It's funny I reread your first post and noticed you were thinking of creating a PLR package. I would love to get into that Niche...I am always researching and reading about fitness, bodybuilding, etc.

I just fear its such a competitive marketplace. Almost as hard, if not more difficult than IM products.

What do you think considering you are a Fitness Marketer

I think it would be a great niche for anyone that wanted to hit it full board ahead. I'd take pictures every few days of myself and build my body up. I would've done it if I didn't already weigh over 200 pounds. Would be nice to be that skinny 150 guy with no muscle again.

There are also people like Joe DeFranco who I just love but once again, he has some eBooks but he makes his money from his gym by catering to people that might possibly go to the NFL or are in the NFL.

I am sure these guys aren't dumb and they know they could make more money off of eBooks but they take more pride in their gyms. I personally would rather sit at home and make money off of eBooks but that's just me.

Best thing about this niche is that you could have a 7-figure take home payout every year.

Even better, just create the next P90x/Insanity and you'll have a $200 million + per year company. Then again, that would be hard to just sitting in your underwear.

$400+ Million, it's crazy. I actually own both of those programs...they are awesome btw. They have a coaching program you can join too, where you can promote the products and build a business. It resembles a MLM kind of thing, but Beachbody.com is the real deal.

They are really starting to do a lot of promotion for their Shakeology. Its a good thing I guess...a consumable product, so you need to keep ordering. The coaches get a % of each reocurring sale, and make money from all the other products.

The CEO, Carl Daikler or whatever his name is, knows how to grow a business.

I have been doing this and it has been working about pretty good. I guess it helps when you use the products and get great results from P90X. A lot of people don't even recruit they just set up sites and sell products but the long term money is in sharing with others. P90X gets millions of searches every month in Google. I started blogging about my P90X journey and now that blog makes sales weekly for me.

I think credibility and reputation is very important especially in the weight loss niche. If someone is gonna put themselves up as a spokesperson of their weight loss product, they need to walk the talk. Who would believe someone whos fat going around preaching about weight loss? (I'm not insinuating anything to the OP). I believe Arnel was successful because he truly has a good success story with convincing before and after pictures when he was doing his youtube marketing. Having good before and after pictures of yourself for the weight loss niche is like having screenshots of your paypal or clickbank account for the IM niche. Then again, theres always the other option of hiding behind some cartoon like fatlossforidiots or fat burning furnace, but this doesn't really build reputation though.

By the way, submitting articles is primarily for backlinks, not necessarily traffic.

    All the best!

I think this is generally true but the people (probably a direct marketer) who created Fatloss4Idiots is laughing all the way to the bank. And he doesn't even have pictures or testimonials.

Yea but those fatlossforidiots type of sites are really exceptional cases. I'm still trying to figure out how they do it other than the fact that they have tons of affiliates selling for them.

A product has to be a simple to follow plan for people or they wont use it.....
For the weight loss/fitness niche you have to teach all the information in as few words as possible....A lot of video and a lot of demonstration.

There is sooooo much to teach so that the weiht loss is long term and healthy but what people are looking for is something they can download and take action on. If they have to read 100 pages first they likely wont buy.

The key is it has to start working now. It has to be as easy to follow as possible and still have a ton of the right information.

finding that sweet spot is the magic bullet.

Since a lot of you are obviously a lot more experienced in this niche than me, maybe someone knows about this. bodyoffire.com has been down for at least 10 days that I know of. What happened???

That page had a lot of the most impressive testimonials I've ever seen. It had a gravity of about 30 on CB. That is making a steep slope downward right now. Looks like no sales at all from affiliates. I pulled the page I had promoting it out of the nav but never expected things to take this long.

Some poor affiliate had the .org version for a review site and a couple of days ago he was still sending traffic to a down site.

Not sure about the site, but if it is Chad Waterbury its a legit site. This guy is very well known, and a huge contributor over at T-nation.com

One thing I do want to mention however is what I stated in my previous posts...you can find a ton of the information on T-nation by CW. Just google him and you'll see him.

      T-nation is basically a forum

It's obviously a very competitive niche, I think the best thing you can do with the weight loss niche is provide great, valuable content and build a relationship with them.

the youtube channel example is a great method above and very innovative.

you have to expect too that people looking for weight loss products and help have all been scammed before so it's important to brand yourself as some kind of authority and not just look for the quick buck here.

    kind regards

I think the challenge would be to bring a fresh offer to the market or a new angle to promote the products as an affiliate. I cannot say with certainty as I haven't cracked the code yet, working on it.

This is a great thread and I hope we keep it going and update any progress we make toward building profitable blogs/websites. There have been some great ideas tossed around!

@eplio, thank you so much for sharing your keyword research done for "weight loss". It was definitely worthy of hitting the formal "THANKS" button!!! That list of keywords have given me some additional keyword ideas to plug into my editorial calendar.

I have a health, fitness and wellness blog I've had for several years but have not built it out or monetized it yet. This thread has given me the motivation I need to get the ball rolling. My focus is on a very specific/target market within this niche with inter-related issues. My plan is to really focus on creating quality blog posts.

My current dilemma is deciding upon a good WordPress theme/template to use. I want a template that is simple, somewhat clean, and conducive to videos and will allow me to grow without outgrowing it. I'm currently using the Kubrick "Twenty Ten" theme, which I like. I'm getting a custom header designed for it that's more reflective of my micro-niche(s).

What WordPress themes are you guys using or would recommend for the health, fitness, weight loss, and wellness niche?

      Hi everyone,
I am a registered dietitian. I have seen many clients who would benefit from weight loss to improve their medical conditions.
My main observations for weight loss success:
      · Motivation
      · Direction
      · Accountability
      · Support
      · A diet and exercise plan that FIT their lifestyle and tolerance.

Like IM, many clients expect to come out of my office 10 lbs. lighter after the first visit without taking any actions. So, I'm thinking many of those people who bought popular diet books to sit on their shelf also expect results without all the necessary components above.

Due to a visual impairment I have been reading and learning about possibilities to replace my present income with online income.
A membership site including weight loss sounds like something that could fit into my future.

If anyone has any ideas for me I would appreciate to hear them.
I'm interested in anything in the health and wellness niche.
      Thx.

I'm in the weight loss niche and also write/sell PLR packages relevant to the niche. I always include an audio element as I feel that it is an essential component of the experience and really gives my products an edge.

I would add that I have plenty of offline experience in the industry, having trained and worked as a Pilates instructor. I also have a background in motivational training which I believe is crucial to the success of a weight loss program as so many people need to sort out the 'inner' them before they can successfully tackle the 'outer'.

It's a great niche to be in because it is evergreen and enormous in its reach - there are literally hundreds of ways you can tackle weight loss although it does really come down to the fundamentals of eating and exercising right. I also don't believe in over-saturation simply because the internet is so vast and growing all the time. Identify your sub-niche, market assiduously and there is plenty of money to be made by marketers old and new.

I am about to get started in it. It is too competitive for me to make it my IM project, but I am about to go on a mission to lose 100 pounds and will be inviting others interested in doing the same to join in and report what they are doing, using, and their results.

I'll probably find some alternative means of advertising other than with article marketing, but it may still be a part.

I am just not expecting to earn as much as I lose.

Congrats LD. 100 pounds in a year is impressive. Great job.

You should blog about this journey. What you are doing, what you are eating etc. You can always monetize it later. Just by talking about what I do on my blog brings me organic traffic and sales.

        Thank you,
That is pretty much what I plan to do. I am taking a very non-traditional approach to weight loss. My hopes are to gather a following of others who want to, or have lost as much weight to encourage one another and to report what they are doing and how it is working.

I am still trying to figure out how to monetize it. I have already seen LD's WSO and am considering getting it so I can use it as a viral gift to build my list.

The site won't really be a "How-to" site, but rather a blog of experiences of people using different methods that worked, or didn't work, for them.

        Well, good night for now.

Thanks for the word of encouragement. I have looked at your PLR. It is a little out of my budget right now, but it is tempting. I will see what happens at work Tuesday. Depending on my outcome, I hope to get your WSO on Wednesday.

      Thanks again,

I'm in weight loss. I have a membership site as well several blogs that do recipes and target specific market areas. I personally dropped almost 200 pounds and it helps when relating to women who need the help.

Otherwise I find that my sites that give away free recipes do the best in organic traffic and sales.

Haven't dipped into it much but a while ago (like 4-5 months ago) I created 10+ weight loss niche related sites to add to my adsense network and to date they seem to be earning well for only being single pagers. Unfortuniately I can't say I have earned much from the Amazon Aff. side of it though. Maybe I should apply click bank products to them instead and see if that works better.

Demand does vary a fair bit depending on the locations you are targeting... obviously winter is a sucky time to be pushing weight loss, but it is always summer somewhere

I have weight loss niche sites that I have targeted mainly at 2 different countries - 1 aimed at Australia and 1 at the USA.

Promotion goes into overdrive for Australia about November and then eases off in March.

December/January tends to be good regardless of location since you get a heap of new years resolutions

    I lost 22 pounds (10 kilos) in 6-8 weeks.

    My secret?

    Eat right. Exercise more.

Changed the old routine to a new one that was healthier.

I'm going to get into this niche soon.

I would love to hear any suggestions as to what information products I might get into. I have been practicing medical nutrition therapy for many years. I thought of doing how to videos such as how to cook/eat for a medical condition i.e. Acid Reflux disease. There is a lot of information on the net and some are not accurate and evidence based. Doctors do not have the time for diet management instructions and many people do not see a dietitian for instructions due to insurance problem or no dietitian available in the their area.
Although diet and nutrition area is what I know, I'm interested in any health, wellness, and self improvement topics.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I'm in a very similar niche (bodybuilding, muscle gain, that kinda stuff) and doing pretty well.

I rely mainly off EZA traffic, each one of my articles averages 7 or so clicks.

Just start getting that list going

I created a weight-loss product almost a year ago, and my biggest obstacle was getting traffic.

The internet is saturated with lose weight/ diet products, and really, how many key words in the diet niche can there be. It's very difficult to compete. Plus with the success of fatloss4idiots and other similar sites that have been around for a while, their organic traffic is an old oak tree, while you're the new seedling.

My product was my story as well, and I did a tremendous amount of research for it, to make sure there was substantial value....but nothing matters if I can't get any traffic. I've just left it alone for now, as I have bigger fish to fry!

But hey, that's just my experience...

I am in the wellness niche and find that people are buying into these products and finding that when they feel better and move around without as much pain, they lose weight.
