Festive marketing - how will you be making the most of it?

As the festive season is nearly upon us - with ever increasing numbers of Christmas adverts on TV(!) - there's clearly a strong argument to say it's a great marketing opportunity if you have the right promotion...

What are you going to be doing for your prospects and customers? What has worked for you in previous years?

Needless to say New Year presents a whole host of opportunities too...

To start the (snow)ball rolling, here's a couple to think about:

Christmas: Most companies/marketers send some form of Christmas greeting but with everyone else doing the same it is very easy for your message to get lost in the thousands of similar messages. So...

1 - Be the first to say "Happy Christmas" in a fun way ...as you're the first you are far more likely to be noticed and/or remembered!

2 - Christmas cards? Again two-a-penny... how about do as one of my clients does every year: They create cards which are three-dimensional recreations of famous buildings... The interesting thing is that many of their clients COLLECT them! I know one guy who has 7 of them lined up on a shelf in his office... and yes, they are a talking point throughout the whole year whenever someone visits. So for my client they have continual free advertising!

New Year: This is an obvious one and I know from personal experience you can get killer results. Whatever niche you are in create a "How to achieve your New Year's Resolutions" give-away which specifically relates to that niche. An obvious would be weight-loss, any one who sells a weight-loss product and does not capitalize on New Year's 'fat busting' resolutions is missing a HUGE opportunity!

So, now it's your turn... let's inspire each other with great ideas which can make us all an extra few dollars this Christmas!

All the best,

Michael

PS - Let's keep this thread about promotions anyone can do no matter what their niche ...in other words this thread isn't about doing things specifically in the Christmas niche. Ta!
