Enhancing my membership site

Recently I launched my Resell Rights membership site. My initial idea was to provide members with a weekly supply of resell rights products that they could sell for profit. However, if that was the only thing I do, I don't think I could retain the members past 3 months.

I have included special services such as article writing, wordpress development etc. Somehow, I feel that I could do more to increase the value of the members.

Can warriors here give me some ideas of what you would want to find in this sort of membership site? I wish to enhance the site so as to attract more members. Thanks!

Bluntly, what you have is almost the same as 99% of your competition.

And some of that competition offers the products on an individual sale basis.

What I have found with my own websites is that unless people are using the stuff and making money, they won't hang around long. Some will sign up just to get the products then quit.

One way around this is to offer unlimited access for 6 months at a set price, rather then recurring.

Alternatively, you gotta look for a unique angle... or give members the services they need to help them make money with the products.

    Hope this helps.

  • Membership sites, in my experience, are hard to sustain because of people's psychological apprehension to monthly fees.

The only way to keep your members over the long run, again in my experience, is to go for the "uniqueness route" rather than the "value route". Trust me, people are willing to pay a premium for unique or exclusive stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. I will be planning to add "uniqueness" to my membership site too...Need to work out the structure as well as the service delivery portion.

    Any other feedback?

You may want to consider simply making it a microcontinuity site. Tell members it's a 6 month membership, and if they stay for all six months, then they get lifetime access. Takes off the pressure to constantly create new content, and your members are more likely to stick around for six full months because they know it's not a forever thing. Just an idea.

I am still thinking of how to build uniqueness in my offering.

Thanks for the idea. Yes, I am considering the Fix Term membership model too. It makes more sense for me so that I don't kill myself creating content month after month. Instead of just PLR products, I might tweak it into a training course spread over 6 months.

But those who complete the course would be able to have free lifetime access.

You say you do Wordpress development, why not make a wordpress plugin that your audience would be interested in, and offer it free to members. Make it a "plugin service" that requires continuous membership to work.

Hey I have been doing membership sites for a long time. Lots of testing, lots of money made, but I have probably not made as much as I could have. I had problems like yours in the beginning and have some little tips that could help you out.

    1) offer a trial, when they sign up make sure you say hi. Get them to know you are a real person and want to help their business.

    2) Be different, chances are they are looking around at people and membership sites and they are all the same. Have a cool edge, or a persona that say "Its me you need to go with"

    3) To keep people on you will have to come up with a good way to drip feed content. My drip feed content sites are good and keeps members on board. Yes some drop out and you cant help that....but you need to give them stuff that keeps them staying on with you. ANd my best goes at this is with the drip feed method. I have one site that drips feeds for 12 weeks, with 1 update a week. It has a high stick rate because the content is good, and people are urged onto the next week. It took many weeks to set that up but the retention rate is higher than all the rest of my membership sites.

So have something worthwhile, be different, and make sure you stuff is top notch. All commonsense here really. But hopefully that will help with some of your hassles. Just about testing and tweaking too. You will get to know your members soon enough and what they like and what turns them off. It will be obvious after a while of testing.

    Hope that helps.

    Celente.

I'm also a huge fan of drip feed sites. I hae made a ton of money from them, and my retentions have been as high as 80% for a 6 month period.

The difference here is that the OP is promoting resell rights products.

      Big difference.

I have spent the last 8 months testing this on my membership plr packages, and the drip feed aspect didn't work out to well.

If for example, you are providing content that is related... ie all the same niche, then you have targeted customers who will stick around. A great example of this is all Mom PLR.com

      Or All weight loss PLR.

The whole idea of resell rights is overblown in my humble opinion.

With stuff like this, you gotta think outside the square.

Feel free to PM me your email and I'll be happy to help you brainstorm further.

Consider narrowing your niche. It's counter-intuitive, 'cos we tend to think the bigger our market the more $$$ we'll make. After consulting to hundreds of businesses I've seen the reverse generally holds. Niche rocks. Find a tightly knit community of interest and serve it super-value. More stickiness, more loyalty, more opportunities for long-term revenue. Hope this helps...

    Hi guys.

In terms of drip fed sites do you find that a membership area with updated content, tools, etc. works best or just a structured training program (type of thing) that gives people pre-produced content for a certain period of time?

I don't think people have a problem with monthly fees - but the perception has to be right.

    Thoughts?

Mate, I have made my $$ with the latter. It's basically the simplest form of coaching.

You offer a training program, then combine it into 4 week intensive and upsell it for $197+ as a rapid results program.

      Cheers.

I think that you have both monthly fees and one time fee. People who registered for monthly fee, can upgrade their membership to lifetime after one month and in this case their fee for the first month will be returned to them. In this case more of your users will like to upgrade their membership to lifetime.

    Hi Warriors,

Thanks for the inputs. I have some basic understanding of how I can enhance my site. Here are some ideas after looking at your inputs.

I will have 2 payment mode. The Basic and the Advance. The Basic members will receive a training course on how to use PLR products to make money online. The course will be stretch for 6 months hence the members will only pay up to 6 months.

They will also receive 50 PLR ebooks and 100 PLR articles. They will also be entitled to special services such as wordpress set up, article rewriting etc for additional charges.

The advance members will receive alot more of coz. Besides the training course, they will receive unlimited PLR products such as ebooks, videos, turnkey sites. On top of that, they will receive premium articles to enhance their learning.

The key USP is that as long as they see through the course, they will be entitled to a completion bonus, which could be a free lifetime membership....

    Thoughts?
